Rhineland Tour Sample Itinerary

• All activities are subject to opening times and availability.
• Entrance rates, flight details and opening times are subject to change.
• This is a sample itinerary. All services (e.g. entrance fees, coaching and

meals) included in your tour price are as per your “Cost Includes” letter
not as per this itinerary.

Day 1 Arrival & Day in Cologne

AM Assemble in the airport for your flight to Dusseldorf.

On arrival meet your coach and transfer to the Leverkusen
for a tour of the Bay Arena Stadium (journey time 45
minutes).

Meet your guide for a 1.5-hour behind-the-scenes tour of
this renowned stadium. Stroll through the player’s tunnel,
visit the changing rooms or take a seat on the players’
bench.

PM Depart the Arena and travel by coach to Cologne.

This is the oldest city in Germany and is steeped in culture
and history. Visit its large Gothic Cathedral. Dominating
the skyline, the cathedral’s two spires tower 157 metres

high, making it the second highest building in Cologne.
Climb to the viewing platform (entrance €2.00) in the
cathedral for a panoramic view over the city and the Rhine
river. You will have free time to browse the shopping
streets before departing Cologne for your accommodation
in Koblenz.

On arrival in Koblenz, check in to your accommodation,
where your group may enjoy an evening meal and
overnight accommodation.

Day 2 Full day Phantasialand

AM Breakfast at your hotel.

Meet your coach and transfer to Phantasialand for a full
day.

Enjoy a fun-filled day at Phantasialand. Located in Brühl, 1
hours’ drive from Koblenz, this is Germany's second most
visited theme. With its different themed regions, you can
experience extreme roller coasters, enjoy the amazing
Chinese architecture, listen to traditional African or
Mexican folk music, and take a tour of Germany’s capital
without leaving the theme park.

PM Meet your coach and return to your accommodation for
your evening meal.
In the evening, the group can go swimming at a local pool
in Freizeitbad Tauris, located about 15 mins away, before
returning to your accommodation.

Day 3 Full day sightseeing

AM Breakfast at your hotel.

Meet your coach and transfer to the Rhine River.
You will take a 1.5 hour boat trip along the Rhine to St.
Goarshausen. You could see the famous ‘cat’ and ‘mouse’
castles as well as the Loreley Rock – this is a treacherous
part of the river, where legend has it that a mermaid singing
from the rock lured many sailors to their death!

Continue by coach to go up to the Niederwald Heights
offering spectacular views over the river and the vineyard
hills (chair lift and cable car are closed at the period of the
year). At the top, you can visit the Niederwald Monument,
a statue which honours the nation of Germany.

After the visit, your group will have some free time for lunch
in Braubach.

PM Your group will visit the Marksburg Castle. This is the only
castle on the Rhine that has never been destroyed and is
well worth a visit offering visitors a perfect depiction of
medieval life.

Return to Koblenz, where your group can have dinner at
your accommodation.

On this evening, your group may enjoy a game of bowling
at a local bowling center before returning to your
accommodation.

Day 4 Full day sightseeing & Departure

AM Breakfast at your hotel and check out.

Meet your coach and transfer to Frankfurt for a full day
sightseeing.

Arriving in Frankfurt, visit the old town, Römerplatz, the
heart of Historic Frankfurt. For centuries, this large square
has been the centre of all festivities in Frankfurt. The Römer
is the historical town hall with a neo-Gothic façade. The
half-timbered buildings lining the square are true copies of
the originals. At the south end of Römerplatz is the
Nikolaikirche (St Nicolas’ Church). Behind it is the Historical
Museum with eclectic material on Frankfurt’s rich history.
Across the alley is Haus Wertheim, the only half-timbered
building in the old town that survived the inferno of 1945.

Another interesting way to see the city is by taking a river
cruise. Only a few steps away from the Römer, directly on
the Main quay at the Eiserner Steg, there is the main
landing stage where the group can board a river cruise.

PM Depart by coach to the airport for your return flight home.

Your group may depart from Dusseldorf or Frankfurt
airport for your return flight to Dublin.

Arrive Dublin. On arrival, group to make their own travel
arrangements home.

This is a sample itinerary for suggestion purposes only.
Please discuss any required modifications with your sales representative.
