Purpose-
The purpose of this workshop is to inform educators of the PUSD on ways to help their students achieve 60 minutes of physical activity a day in the classroom setting. -Many students do not achieve 60 minutes of physical activity a day.

A training designed to introduce the strengths and challenges that children in foster care and others who have been exposed to trauma face on a day-to-day basis. Transformative School Counseling in a Linked Learning Environment will assist professional school counselors and other educational leaders in their understanding of the counselor's roles of leader, advocate, systems change agent, and consultant/collaborator. These roles will be viewed through the lens of the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) standards.
This information is important for professional school counselors and administrators. Participants will create their own plus/delta/plan charts as a concluding activity to reflect on the strengths, challenges, and plan of action for their own school sites.
Participants will leave with a better understanding of Linked Learning, and their role in meeting certification standards. Participants will be empowered to serve in the roles of advocate, systems change agent, collaborator, and leader.
The presenter was a professional high school counselor in Linked Learning and California Partnership Academy environments in the Long Beach Unified School District. She earned her doctorate in Educational Leadership for California State University, Long Beach. She is a former ASCA RAMP recipient and first semi-finalist for ASCA School Counselor of the Year. She currently is an Assistant Professor in the Counseling Graduate program at Azusa Pacific University.

I propose to offer a presentation to teachers (and classroom aides) that highlights some of the amazing scientific sites and personalities that are in (or have been) in Pasadena. My purpose is to invite teachers to enrich science and/or history lessons by showing/telling students what role Pasadena has played in producing and promoting people, information, and instruments that have benefitted mankind.

We will be sharing some fun and engaging instructional strategies on incorporating sight word practice in the classroom. Some of the activities can be done whole group, while other activities can easily lend themselves for small group instruction. With the use of visual cues, Kagan strategies, and playful activities, we will provide some tips and tricks so that teachers will be able to get their students moving around and celebrate the joys of learning sight words in a fun environment. After modeling and going through some of the best practices, we will have teachers make-and-take some of the activities so that they can utilize it in their classrooms immediately.
