The word "football" can refer to a variety of sports. Association football is the most well-known kind of football. In North America, South Africa, and Australia, this is referred to as "soccer" to distinguish it from other popular football variants. THE TERMS "FOOT" AND "BALL" ARE COMBINED TO GET THE NAME FOOTBALL. FOOTBALL IS THE NAME OF THE GAME BECAUSE, UNLIKE (FOR EXAMPLE) POLO, WHERE PLAYERS RIDE HORSES, FOOTBALL PLAYERS WALK AND FREQUENTLY RUN (ON THEIR FEET) WHILE PLAYING.THE OBJECT USED TO PLAY FOOTBALL IS A BALL, COMMONLY KNOWN AS A "FOOTBALL," WHICH IS TYPICALLY SHAPED LIKE AN ELLIPSOID OR SPHERE. ALTHOUGH THE FOOT IS TYPICALLY USED TO KICK THE BALL, OTHER BODY PARTS MAY ALSO BE USED (SUCH AS THE HANDS IN ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL), AND SOME OTHER GAMES THAT ARE REFERRED TO AS "FOOTBALL" ALSO INVOLVE HANDLING THE BALL. WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THEIR HANDS AND ARMS, PLAYERS CAN USE ANY PART OF THEIR BODY. TO PREVENT THE BALL FROM ENTERING THE GOAL, GOALKEEPERS MIGHT EMPLOY EVERY MUSCLE IN THEIR BODY. 4 FOOTBALL

5 BASKETBALL In December 1891, James Naismith, a Canadian-American professor of physical education and instructor at the International Young Men's Christian Association Training School (now Springfield College) in Springfield, Massachusetts,[5] was trying to keep Fvigorous indoor game to keep his students occupied and at proper levels of fitness during the long New England winters. After rejecting other ideas as either too rough or poorly suited to walledin gymnasiums, he invented a new game in which players would pass a ball to teammates and try to score points by tossing the ball into a basket mounted on a wall. Naismith wrote the basic rules and nailed a peach basket onto an elevated track. Naismith initially set up the peach basket with its bottom intact, which meant that the ball had to be retrieved manually after each "basket" or point scored. This quickly proved tedious, so Naismith removed the bottom of the basket to allow the balls to be poked out with a long dowel after each scored basket FUN FACTS NO INJURY NO FOUL Shouldering, holding, pushing, tripping, or otherwise striking an opponent was never allowed. However, such offenses were never considered fouls until 1910, with the advent of a rule disqualifying a player for committing four of them. That total was raised to five in 1946, in the inaugural rules of the Basketball Association of America (the original name of the National Basketball Association), and to six the next year.

In the game of golf, players use a variety of clubs to hit a ball into a succession of holes on a course with the fewest strokes possible. Unlike most ball sports, golf cannot be played on a standardized field, and one of the main aspects of the game is navigating the varying terrains that can be found on different courses. Courses usually consist of nine or eighteen holes , which are sections of land with a cup—the hole where the ball is supposed to land. Every hole on a course has a putting green with the cup and a teeing ground to start from. Between the tee and the green, there are a number of common types of terrain, including the fairway, rough (tall grass), and other hazards like GOLF 7

Tennis is a racket sport that is played either individually against a single opponent (singles) or between two teams of two players each (doubles). Each player uses a tennis racket that is strung with cord to strike a hollow rubber ball covered with felt over or around a net and into the opponent's court. The object of the game is to manoeuvre the ball in such a way that the opponent is not able to play a valid return. The player who is unable to return the ball validly will not gain a point, while the opposite player will. 8 TENNIS 8

The activity of riding a bicycle or other sort of cycle is called cycling, sometimes referred to as bicycling or biking. It includes riding humanpowered vehicles including tricycles, quadricycles, unicycles, and balance bikes. All across the world, people ride bicycles for a variety of reasons, such as transportation, leisure, fitness, and competitive sports. Cycling gained popularity in Europe and North America in the late 19th century, particularly in the final ten years of the century. Currently, more than half of all people are proficient bike riders. 9 When compared to other forms of transportation, bicycles are thought to be a more environmentally friendly means of transportation, particularly for use in cities and over shorter distances. Riding a bicycle is among the healthiest and most aerobic exercises you can perform. Riding a bike regularly has many advantages, such as improved heart and brain health, elevated mood, reduced risk of chronic diseases, and increased longevity. Riding a bike is also a low-impact exercise that takes you outside. You can burn calories by cycling as well. You can increase your muscular and cardiovascular endurance by riding a bike for at least thirty minutes each day. Your aerobic capacity will increase with regular exercise, allowing you to go on longer and more strenuous bike rides. Because exercise increases your overall stamina, you might also experience increased energy levels throughout the day. Most exercises are indeed environmentally friendly. However, using a bike as a mode of transportation allows you to travel sustainably, get some exercise, and breathe fresh air. You have the freedom to ride your bike at your own pace. With a stationary bike, you have two options: ride steadily at a resistance and speed that suits you, or take an HIIT cycling class that combines arm, core, and leg exercises into a 45- minute workout. If you're riding outside, you can either ride at a steady speed over flat terrain while taking in the view, or you can choose a strenuous route that will make you sweat. All in all, even though it's just one bike, you may customize it to make each day feel unique. CYCLING

Hiking is an extended, strenuous trek in the countryside, typically on trails or pathways. In Europe, leisurely walking came into being in the eighteenth century. Although religious pilgrimages have been around for much longer, they entail walking great distances for a spiritual goal connected to particular religions. In North America and Canada, "hiking" is the preferred term; "walking" is used for shorter walks, especially in metropolitan areas. The term "walking" refers to any type of walking in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland, including park walks and alpine backpacking. In the UK, the terms "hiking," "rambling," "hillwalking," and "fell walking," which refers primarily to hillwalking in northern England, are also frequently used. Australia is home to the term "bushwalking," which was coined in 1927 by the Sydney Bush Walkers group. Trampping is the term for an extended, strenuous walk or hike in New Zealand. Numerous hiking groups throughout the world support this popular sport, and research indicates that walking in any form is beneficial to one's health.Bushwhacking is a term used to describe hiking that occasionally entails it. This is especially true of tough hiking through bushes, undergrowth, or dense forests where moving forward necessitates pushing foliage away. A machete is used to clear a path in severe bushwhacking situations where human passage is obstructed by dense undergrowth. 10 HIKING

SURFING A surfer (or two in tandem surfing) uses a board to ride on the forward portion, or face, of a moving wave of water. The wave often brings the surfer towards the coast. Surfing is a surface water sport. Surfable waves are mostly found at coastal coasts, although they can also be found in lakes, rivers in the form of tidal bores, standing waves in the open ocean, and wave pools. Regardless of posture, surfing describes the act of riding a wave with a board. A variety of board types exist. While the indigenous peoples of the Pacific region surfed waves in alaia, paipo, and other reed boats, the Moche people of Peru would frequently surf on additional similar watercraft. While the current concept of surfing usually refers toa surfer riding a wave while standing on a surfboard, generally known as stand-up surfing, ancient societies regularly surfed ontheir thighs and knees. 11

Skydiving is the recreational sport of parachute jumping from an aircraft. You can go skydiving alone or with other individuals in groups. It is necessary to receive training. Skydivers, in contrast to most paratroopers, frequently wait until they are low to open their parachute. A balloon that is high enough in the sky or a helicopter can potentially be used for the jump. The sport of skydiving can be thrilling. Skydiving is the practice of free falling through the air (often from an airplane) without using a parachute. Skydivers typically descend from 4,000 meters (12,500 feet), giving them between 40 and 50 seconds of freefall time. Exiting an airplane at altitudes higher than 4,000 meters can result in longer free fall durations; nevertheless, really high leaps necessitate pressurized air within the aircraft and bottled oxygen for the diver. People who enjoy scuba diving, also referred to as "divers" or "scuba divers," swim underwater. They have a compressed air tank that allows them to stay underwater for extended periods of time. The tank is a sizable steel or aluminum metal cylinder.A diving bell with trapped air would be lowered in the 1600s. A diving bell is comparable to a big, heavy, upside-down bucket that, when covered under water, retains air. Breathing that air, a diver would enter and exit the bell, working until the air quality decreased. In order to allow the diver to stay longer, fresh air was later fed through a tube to the diving bell. The original diving suits used an air pump hose and a bulky copper diving helmet with windows. Clamped onto a waterproof diving suit was the helmet. Since swimming was unsafe, divers would stroll on the seafloor while wearing large weights.[1] Air would be supplied to the helmet via the air hose from a pump above the diver on land or in a boat. The diver would breathe from the air within the helmet as it passed through a valve and out into the water. Although a lot of air was squandered in the process, the diver could not be supplied with air only when needed. We refer to this as a free-flow system. 13 SCUBA DIVING

ROWING Using human muscle power to move a boat over water is known as rowing. It might be considered a sport. To go as quickly as possible on top of the water is the aim of rowing. The sportsmen utilize a boat. They can use one oar or two sculls to propel the boat forward. Different styles of rowing exist. The types vary according to the number of passengers and whether or not a coxswain is present. In the Northeastern United States, the Commonwealth, and England, rowing is a highly popular sport. Regular rowing matches are held between the historic universities of England and the United States. 14

One of the first fighting sports in history is boxing. Two boxers (those who engage in boxing matches) play it in a ring. They attempt to strike each other while donning padded gloves. In boxing, there are several strategies for success. One is through a knockout, which occurs when a fighter takes a punch to the body and is unable to stand back up in ten seconds. Another method is through a technical knockout, in which the fighter is rendered incapacitated and the bout is stopped by the referee. For a boxer, wins and loses by technical knockout also mean losses by knockout. Winning on points is an additional option, which a boxer obtains by outboxing their opponent by hitting BOXING15

In a wrestling bout, two competitors attempt to pin the other person to the ground. We refer to those who wrestle as wrestlers. It is forbidden to strike when wrestling. Throws, takedowns, and trips are techniques used by wrestlers to bring their opponents to the ground. They employ pins and holds to control their opponent when they are on the ground. For fighters in mixed martial arts events, wrestling is a well-liked and practical foundation. 16 W R E S T L I N G
