Kercang GAMES

Kercang is a type of traditional Malay game.
This game is usually made of rattan arranged in layers according
to the level of difficulty.
The first stage is the easiest followed by the second, third and so
on.
This game was popular among the natives and Malays who lived in
and around the Endau Rompin forest once upon a time.
But now the Malay community has forgotten it and it is only
played occasionally among the Orang Asli such as the Jakun
ethnic group when there are foreign visitors as a show.

Sabah's population is made up 33 indigenous groups that
communicate in over 50 languages and 80 ethic dialects. The
Kadazan-Dusun is the largest ethnic group in Sabah that makes
up almost 30% of the population. Celebrated annually on 30th &
31st May, the Harvest Festival is the most celebrated holiday of
the year by the Kadazan-Dusun to honor the Rice Spirit and to
give thanks for a bountiful harvest. The Bajaus, or also known as
"Cowboys of the East", and Muruts, the hill people and head
hunters in the past, are the second and third largest ethnic
group in Sabah respectively. Other indigenous tribes include the
Bisaya, Brunei Malay, Bugis, Kedayan, Lotud, Ludayeh, Rungus,
Suluk, Minokok, Bonggi, the Ida'an, and many more. In addition
to that, the Chinese makes up the main non-indigenous group of
the population.


HISTORY

The history of Sabah can be traced back to about 23–30,000 years
ago when evidence suggests the earliest human settlement in the
region existed. The history is interwoven with the history of Brunei
and the history of Malaysia, which Sabah was previously part of and
is currently part of respectively.

INTRODUCTION

Sarawak Community

Sarawak has 27 major ethnic groups, so far as
presented. All these ethnic groups have their own
language, culture, and way of life. Ethnicity in Sarawak
is divided according to settlement areas such as coastal
areas, river valleys, inland areas, and highland areas.
The most densely populated areas are in the coastal
plain, the river valley in the western part of Kuching,
and the area between Sungai Kayan and Sungai Mukah.


HISTORY RELIGION
