HENN NA hotel The continuous advancement of technology

paved the way for vast ideas; creating a whole new
level of service and experience to the people—one
where innovation intertwines with comfort. Japan’s
Henn-na Hotel made a breakthrough as it was recorded
as the world-first hotel staffed by robots.

The name of the hotel was derived from the
japanese word “Henn” which means “strange” or “to
change”, where both definitions manifested. The state-
of-the-art hotel gives an experience that lies beyond
ordinary technology and comfort.

The said robot-run hotel may seem strange, yet
exciting. The hotel will welcome the customers with
an English-speaking dinosaur and Japanese-speaking
female humanoid receptionists that will help you in
checking-in or checking-out. At the cloakroom, a
robotic arm will take care the luggage. In addition, a
doll-like hairless robot with a voice recognition is the
concierge that utters breakfast and event information.
Facial recognition technology is also another feature
wherein a digital image of the guest’s face is registered
upon check-in, as it serves as a room key.

The robot staff taking care of the accommodation
is indeed the breaking of the demarcation line that
separates the robots and humankind—that both can
compatibly live with the former efficiently serves the
latter. • XVIII •

5G HUMANOID ASSISTANT ROBOT

One of the goals of innovation is to make the life of humankind easier. https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6fhcz9

With the insatiable desire of humans to continuously build new technology
that adheres to the aforementioned intent, evolutionary breakthroughs
are being developed to assist us in doing dangerous work.

The 5G Humanoid Assistant Robot is a work-in-progress ideal that hopes
to assist people when performing hazardous jobs, as the robot mimics
human movement. The mimicry was made possible using 20 different
sensors attached to the operator’s body, where the robot receives signals
through 5G network. As the operator moves, the robot will move in unison,
even in a remote location.

Although the prototype is still quite unstable, it is already a big leap
towards the ideal that these aspirations will ease human activities with
the hope that no human life will be in peril because of dangerous works.
