While our products are responsibly sourced, 100% reef safe, and environmentally friendly down to our recyclable packaging, our do-good attitude extends beyond our product to the research into treatment and prevention of melanoma by proudly partnering with the Australian Melanoma Research Foundation. 5% of all sunscreen sales will be contributed to the foundation and consumers will be taking an active part in being a force for good in the fight against melanoma. Our entire range of sunscreens is audited 100% organic. This means all of our ingredients are naturally derived and no pesticides are used at all. This eliminates the risk of the presence of even trace amounts of pesticides that other natural products may have. Absolutely zero animal testing is conducted at any point in our manufacturing process. While other brands may hint at this concept with phrases such as ‘no animal testing’ they are not cruelty free. We work closely with our facility in Brisbane to ensure that any testing is only done on consenting humans What does this mean? Our precious reefs have been dying for a long time and only recently have the most popular international destinations started to ban chemical sunscreens in their reefs. Many of the toxins found in chemical sunscreens are significantly damaging to the beautiful coral communities found near our precious beaches and have been washing off our skin and leaching into our aquatic life. ZINC OXIDE BENEFITS
Zinc oxide has many naturally occurring benefits and occurs in concentrations of up to 30% in popular baby rash creams. Being an essential trace element in proper cellular function and bone formation, it forms a physical barrier against a very broad spectrum of UV radiation and is effective in protecting against the harmful radiation from the sun. It is both antimicrobial and non-comedogenic (does not clog pores) thus it is the perfect choice for people with redness or rosacea due to sensitive skin. The antimicrobial properties of ZnO can aid in healing burns and other skin damage that results from sunburn. Not only that but is super safe and is not easily absorbed through the skin(17). Zinc oxide sunscreens sit on the epidermis and create a barrier atop it, unlike other chemical based sunscreens that get absorbed into the bloodstream. The FDA’s release published 24/08/2021 stated “infants are at greater risk than adults of sunscreen side effects”. Zinc oxide is considered safe for infants by the FDA and is even present at up to 40% in nappy rash creams. Therefore, if there is a situation where sun protection such as protective clothing or shade is not available the safest option for babies is a Natural Zinc based 100% Organic 100% Vegan Sunscreen.
