PENGENALAN PROGRAM

Pameran Projek Pelajar & Pertandingan Rekacipta Inovasi (PROJEX - 25) Sesi
November 2022 akan dianjurkan oleh Jabatan Pelancongan dan Hospitaliti, Politeknik Kota
Kinabalu.

ABSTRACT

This research was done to find a suitable mixture composition for a mixture of sand and
quarry dust and to reduce the use of sand. The purpose of this fine stone mixture is to
overcome the main problem that is being faced which is the use of very fine sand and also
the excessive use of sand can damage the ecosystem. The use of very fine sand can affect
the mixture of materials in construction such as mortar. Quarry dust which is a by-product or
waste from the crushing process has a coarser structure than sand. To determine the
physical properties of sand and quarry dust, a sieve test and a turbidity test were performed.
Therefore, the distribution size and percentage of silt for sand and quarry dust can be
known. The size of quarry dust selected based on the analysis made is 2.36mm to 300μm. A
sieve test for 6 mixture compositions was performed and there were 3 best mixtures based
on the analysis of the scatter chart, namely 50% sand and 50% quarry dust, 55% sand and
45% quarry dust and 60% sand and 40% quarry dust. To ensure that the composition of this
selected mixture is better than 100% sand, this mixture is tested on mortar cubes. There are
several tests which are density test, water diffusion test and compression test done to
determine the properties of mortar cubes. Based on the observations and analysis that have
been made, the average density test value for a mixture of sand and quarry dust is higher
than 100% sand. In addition, the average water permeability of 50% sand 50% quarry dust is
10.11%, 55% sand and 45% quarry dust is 9.49% and also 60% sand 40% quarry dust is
9.64. When compared to 100% sand, that is 14.36% water penetration. Next, value the
compressive strength. The value of 100% sand is only 2.77mpa while for the average of the
three mixtures, the value is 5.27mpa. In conclusion, the composition of a mixture of sand
and quarry dust has better results than 100% sand.

ABSTRACT

Interlocking Pavement Block" which was innovated with the addition of motorcycle and
bicycle tire rubber tubes is a type of pavement that can reduce the impact on environmental
pollution. "Interlocking Pavement Block" is also produced with several percentage values
from 0 to 15 percent of the weight ratio of sand. to study whether these used materials can
be used in construction aspects, especially pavements. In producing this "Interlocking
Pavement Block" as many as 36 cube samples with the same mortar mix for several tests
including the strength, permeability, and density values of the samples. These tests were
made on all the samples within 3 weeks which is on the day to 7, 14, and 21. As a result, all
the data obtained from the test are recorded in tables and graphs. The data from the
"Interlocking Pavement Block" mix sample is compared with the existing key bricks. Overall,
the "Interlocking Pavement Block" which plus rubber tube and face mask by 10% is ideal
with a strength value of 9.8MPa on the 21st day which exceeds the standard level of mortar
brick key strength which is 7.5MPa. As for the density value, it exceeds the minimum value
of 2000 kg/m3. Next, it has a water infiltration rate of 4.1%. Therefore, this "Interlocking
Pavement Block" should be able to be used by the parties concerned in the construction of
pavements, especially key bricks.

ABSTRACT

Green roof can be defined as a roof that contains plant or vegetation that maybe fully or
partially covered on the roof. Malaysian tropical climate that is hot and humid throughout the
year causes most of the premises in Malaysia to use electrical appliances such as fan and
air conditioning. Unfortunately, this method contributes to high power usage. Besides that,
there are two sources of heat coming from building roof that increases the indoor
temperature i.e: conduction and sun radiation. The purpose of this study is to test the
performance of Sedum Callisia Repens plants in reducing the building indoor temperature
that cause by heat transfer from sun radiation to the roof. For this purpose, a green roof
prototype has been developed and installed on one of the model house roofs. The
temperature reading for both house model with green roof prototype and control house
model will be recorded for 7 days and the difference temperature between two model houses
will be analyze. Based on the obtained data, the temperature with green roof protype is 3˚C
lower compare to the control house model with surrounding temperature of 36 ˚C. The green
roof are able to decrease 6% indoor temperature if installed. The performance of this green
roof is expected to be improved even more if the model house was constructed based on the
proper roof area height of the house ratio. This because the model house in this study was
too high and caused the heat from solar radiation are mostly transferred to the wall
compared to the roof.

ABSTRACT

Quality is the symbol of human civilization, and with the progress of human civilization,
quality control will play an important role in the construction industry. The tender document
must have high quality standards to provide more quality, safe, suitable, and can give
satisfaction to the client. Depending on the quality of that information will determine the level
of accuracy of the tender. The contractor will have a high level of confidence in the
requirements and be able to submit a competitive tender if the tender documents are
comprehensive and detailed. In Malaysia, using standard contract templates improves
managing building projects. Measurement of all works’ components in accordance with
Standard Method of Measurement 2 (SMM2). Using the standard contract forms 2018
edition with quantities, such as those offered by Pertubuhan Arkitek Malaysia (PAM). The
tender’s overall contents are divided into sections, including section A for tender information,
B for tender details, C for specifications and workmanship, D for appendices and E for
tender drawings. All terms and conditions, as well as details on the responsibilities of the
client and contractor, must be included in the tender document. The rights of both parties
must be made very clear. Section A must be very specific about the terms and conditions.

ABSTRACT

This project is a research on the preparation of Tender Documents for the Proposed 2-
Storey House with a Swimming Pool and a Guard House on Lot 367, at No. 2, Jalan Bola
Keranjang 13/16, Seksyen 13, 40100 Shah Alam, Selangor Darul Ehsan. A tender document
is an offer manuscript issued by the client when he intends to implement the project and it is
very important to provide a quotation from the contractor. The responsible person for the
preparation of a Tender Document is a Quantity Surveyor. This research is done by
obtaining a complete set of building project drawings from the industry according to the
specification of the Quantity Surveying Programme in Politeknik Kota Kinabalu, then
preparing the quantity measurements and the Bill of Quantities for each element,
determining the type of contract to be used or Condition of Contract (CoC) and prepare all
the appropriate sections for the production of Tender Document. As a result of this research,
students were able to find out the Gross Floor Area of a project which is 344m2. Students
also applied the appropriate measurement techniques and prepared the bill of quantities
according to SMM2 by using Microsoft Excel software. The students also have to determine
the suitable contract to be used for the project. Through the building plan, students were
able to find out the design and specifications of the materials used for the project. Hence,
this research has helped students in the production of Tender Documents, which is one of
the main scopes as a Quantity Surveyor.

Trolladder is a combined innovation that combines two types of goods components namely
trolley and ladder which is named as Trolladder in conjunction with the combination of the
words trolley and ladder in the English word. Trolladder is a tool for domestic use that aims
to create a tool for individuals who do painting work, plastering walls, building their homes
alone without getting help from professionals or having the ability to hire construction
workers. This innovation was also created in order to expand the use of existing goods in
order to save users costs, time and energy. In addition, this innovation is designed through a
combination of stairs and trolleys by using existing stairs in the market and adding new
functions to the stairs. This combination expands the functionality of the product with three
different ways of use (3 in 1). This innovation is produced by using a 4-step ladder, iron,
wheels, bolts and nuts. The wheel is attached to the ladder using iron plates and bolt and nut
assembly. This product is designed so that it can be used as a ladder, trolley and flat trolley.
Then, experimental methods and questionnaires are used to test the effectiveness of this
product. The questionnaire was distributed to 50 respondents consisting of laborers and
domestic users. All the goals and objectives of this project have been achieved based on the
tests and analysis that have been carried out. Based on analysis and mean scores, it shows
all objectives with high interpretation. This innovation fulfills all three functions of the product
as a ladder, trolley and flat trolley at the same time showing a high level of effectiveness and
proven to facilitate the user's work. However, it is suggested that the development of product
design ideas needs to be implemented to ensure that this innovative product is able to be
commercialized.

ABSTRACT

This project is based on the researcher's observation of where nails and threads or Brick
Line Runner are used in the work of binding bricks as one of the conventional methods.
However, it is not applied in the workshop used in the Civil Engineering Diploma at the Kota
Kinabalu Polytechnic, Sabah which is the Brickwork and Concrete Laboratory course with
the course code DCC10022. Previously, the conventional method used to fasten bricks was
to use nails and threads for alignment purposes. Nails will be hammered into each end of the
construction and tied together with thread. It is intended to be used as a guide in ensuring
the continuity of each brick that is arranged. Therefore, based on the statement of the
problem, the researcher has set several research objectives, namely designing the
production of the I-Brick Line Runner innovation product, building the I-Brick Line Runner
and testing the effectiveness of the innovation product. Based on the research findings that
have been obtained through the Google Form application produced based on 3 research
objectives, the I-Brick Line Runner innovation has received a positive response from
respondents. For the questionnaire produced from the first objective and consisting of five
questions, the average percentage of respondents who strongly agree is 52.86 percent
higher than the average percentage of respondents who strongly agree disagree which is
4.3 percent. For the questionnaire produced from the second objective and consists of five
questions, the average percentage of respondents who strongly agree is 54.3 percent higher
than the average percentage of respondents who strongly disagree which is 4.3 percent. For
the questionnaire produced from the third objective and consisting of five questions, the
average percentage of respondents who strongly agree is 59.4 percent higher than the
average percentage of respondents who strongly disagree which is 4.3 percent. It is hoped
that, with the production of this I-Brick Line Runner product, researchers will not only be able
to solve problems or difficulties faced by Kota Kinabalu Polytechnic students who take the
Brickwork and Concrete Laboratory course with course code DCC10022 when doing brick
alignment work, but can also be used as a Teaching Aid (ABM) to lecturers and instructors
who carry out the teaching and learning process (PdP) at the Brick Workshop.

ABSTRACT
A Line Follower Robot (LFR) is a mobile robot that detects and follows a black line drawn on
a white surface. It consists mainly of IR sensors, a microcontroller unit, a motor driver, and a
DC motor. Many LFRs use PID control systems as their feedback mechanism. One of the
variables of PID is an error. To reduce the error in LFR, the sensors' measurement readings
must be more precise. This project will discuss improving the sensors' precision by
implementing a 16 array of line sensors using a multiplexer. Bare in mind that this project
only focuses on the sensor system of an LFR. The main components used in this project are
QRE1113 IR sensors, Arduino Nano microcontroller, and 74HC4051 multiplexer. The QRE
1113 IR sensor is a type of infrared sensor that is in SMD form and can emit and receive IR
waves at the same time. The microcontroller unit chosen for this project is an Arduino Nano
due to its small size and lightweight, ideal for a mobile LFR. The 74HC4051 multiplexer was
used in the project to combine 16 sensor signal outputs into four inputs of the signal pin on
the Arduino Nano. The result obtained in the Arduino Serial Monitor is that the sensors with
an output of more than 550 were the estimated locations of the black line on the surface. To
analyze the error, the sum of the weighted value, which is the distance of each sensor from
the robot's centre line, was divided by the sum of the actual value of each sensor from the
serial monitor. The result indicated the black line's distance either off-centre to the right or
left. On this basis, the sensor measurement error should be considered when designing a
high-speed LFR.

ABSTRACT

The issue of pests has always been a problem in society. Not only do they spread diseases,
but they are also destructive. As a result, we intend to develop a device that will address this
issue by reducing their population in areas such as housing and residential. Traditional traps
have the disadvantage of using glue-based traps, which can be harmful to children and
domestic pet owners. Therefore, this project will make an alternative mouse trap that is safe
for both the user and the environment, which eventually will be one of the solutions to a rat-
free zone. The device is equipped with IoT hardware, for example, sensors, Arduino, and
esp32. The sensors will be used to detect the movement of the mouse if it enters the trap.
As a result, the prototype of the smart mouse trap using an IR sensor with Telegram as IoT
was successfully built. The only downside of this trap is the network system. Since the trap
uses esp32-cam to connect to the internet and Telegram, the user has to change the
network SSID and password inside the code. Therefore, it would be wise to take this
information into account. By providing a system that can use an application to set up the
network, it will drastically improve user friendliness.

ABSTRACT
The field of agriculture has been one of the main activities throughout the Covid-19 epidemic
spreading around the world. They grow vegetables or fruits around their homes to fill their
free time during the Movement Control Order (MCO) ordered by the Ministry of Health
Malaysia (MOH). However, after 2 years of the MCO being enforced, Malaysia has declared
an Endemic phase and there is no longer working from home and the crops they cultivate
during the MCO will be affected by their busy work because the crops are poorly monitored
and maintained. So, the solution to this problem is that a device tool will be created to help
users to monitor their cultivation. This device will use the Internet of Things (IoT) system as
the main control of this device. IoT will create smart plantation system to perform various
tasks which is monitoring and irrigation task. The IOT system will displayed the soil and
temperature value and the user can control the switch to water as well with a long distance.
These results help the crops to grow efficiently even the user is far from their crops.
Although more research is needed to make this project more convenient to use.

ABSTRACT
A plant watering system is where the plant is watered systematically and is often used widely
for agricultural purposes, but some people also use it for gardening. This plant watering
system was developed to ease the life of users who make their gardens at home. In addition,
it can monitor the moisture of the water in the soil to ensure the intake of water needed for
the plant is enough for their growth. It has been observed that the main problem is no
system for watering plants at home. It is also known that users have struggled to water their
plants at home, and manually controlled watering needs to be operated systematically,
causing the water used to be excessive for plants. Thus, this system will help users
systematically monitor the plant's consumption rate and also be able to watch the data sent
by the sensor to help manage the plant itself. The objective is to develop an automatic
garden watering system using Arduino uno, a soil moisture sensor for checking the soil
condition, and a water level sensor to prevent the main water tank from having enough water
to water the plant. As a result, this system will make it easier for users to water their plants
when they are away from home. This plant watering system can also save water by using a
dripper to irrigate the plant. It is also expected that this project will meet some obstacles,
such as the cost, the fact that the hardware may need to get power sources, or the fact that
the sensor may break after a particular usage time. The result showed the data displayed of
the soil condition and when the water pump started pumping the water. In conclusion, this
plant watering system can be another part of a home automation system. It gives
alternatives for the home user to make their garden at home. However, much further work is
needed, especially adding a humidity sensor to monitor the garden's temperature and an
ESP32 for IoT system monitoring in a smartphone.

ABSTRACT

A microcontroller is a single-chip microcomputer produced using VLSI technology. It is used
to control the functions of embedded systems in office equipment, robotics, home
appliances, automobiles, and various other devices. Microcontrollers are typically used in
devices that require some level of user control. Examples of microcontrollers are Arduino,
PLC, PIC, and many more. Many courses on the syllabus involve automation applications
controlled by many types of controllers. Therefore, most programmable Labs need more
application trainers for many groups of students. HMI is an added feature to the course
DEJ40033 PLC & Automation for the new syllabus version, but the Automation and Control
Lab (EAK) of Politeknik Kota Kinabalu needs this trainer equipment. The PLC sets in EAK
Lab are industry standards and can be programmed via a programming console (PC), but
there is no access to the software in the laptop environment. This project involves the
construction of an application platform to provide easy plug-and-unplug connections to
several controllers, focusing on the Arduino and the PLC OMRON CPM2A-40. Detailed
research has been conducted to explore and utilize the software used for the PLC, CX-
Programmer, with an adaptor wire to interface a laptop USB to the PLC serial connector
port.In contrast, the Arduino software interfaces with the Arduino controller. In this project, an
Arduino board connects the HMI to the PLC. A small microcontroller, such as the Arduino
Nano, can be used as an input array to be connected to the central controller, such as a
PLC, in actual complete applications to condition several Input/Output (I/O) devices
efficiently. For the application platform, an existing project, "HMI Operated Interactive
Recycle bin," was modified to construct the application trainer with an easy Plug-Unplug
connector to interface various controllers, especially with Arduino and PLC OMRON
CPM2A-40 under this project. This project has achieved the objectives and aligns with the
project title, which implies "multiple accessibilities" to permit the integration of several
controllers to create a whole system. To maintain the freedom of user choice, the "Multiple
accessibilities" in this project may apply to "Multiple controllers" or "Multiple applications." As
the future expansion, this project may serve as the reference and continuity to develop many
more applications platforms and explore to add on other types of controllers to share the
same applications platforms to sustain the Multiple Controller Application Trainer (MCAT).

ABSTRACT

Fast and effective tidy folding through a t-shirt folding machine is an advance over the
traditional method of folding a shirt by ultrasonic sensor on a device. This project aims to fold
t-shirts automatically by using ultrasonic sensor. The fully automatic machine only requires
the user to place the t-shirt on the folding tray and detect motion using ultrasonic sensor.
The t-shirt will then fold itself. Four servo motors move the folding element of this
mechanism. Typically, a person folds their garments the traditional way, by hand. However,
many issues are usually encountered by working women who need help managing their time
for household duties. This project aims to present a simple, fully automatic t-shirt folding
machine. In this proposed system, a servo motor is spun by software that uses a
microprocessor to regulate the folding motion. The microprocessor manages the complete
folding action. The results demonstrate that this system can significantly minimize the time
needed for human clothing folding compared to the traditional way.

ABSTRACT

The Indoor Automated Plant Care System (IAPCS) is an indoor plantation-designed project
that uses clean solar energy as the system's power source, is self-regulatable, and manages
the essential needs of plants, such as water and artificial sunlight. The IAPCS is intended to
improve the standard management of indoor plantations that acquire sufficient water and
sunlight exposure because people are sometimes too busy at work to take care of the
plants, which causes them to wither away inside progressively. The sustainable system is
achieved when the solar photovoltaic system absorbs sunlight and converts it to electricity,
which powers the entire hardware project that produces 17 VDC and rechargeable 14 VDC
batteries within the IAPCS. To be informed of the accurate condition of the plant growth
parameter, including humidity and temperature, light brightness, and soil moisture, the
system combines this range of sensors with a low-cost programmable microcontroller, the
Arduino. While the system efficiently monitors the ambient humidity and temperature in real-
time, detecting sensors triggered by low light brightness and low moisture soil will
automatically turn on the artificial light-emitting devices (LED) and pump water to the
plantation soil. The water level sensor is installed and pumped in when the water tank level
is low. A cut-off water feature with a solenoid valve is introduced while connecting with an
open water supply to keep the stored water at a set level. By implementing the controlled
LED output through the IoT, the IAPCS Blynk app is created, and users manage to monitor
and independently act remotely and continuously. The project's results lead to a substantial
positive impact on the use of clean energy for powering indoor plantations, how indoor plants
are cared for, and the efficiency of water systems. Overall, these efforts contribute to the
sustainability of indoor green practices.

ABSTRACT

Green technology can be described as sustainable energy generation technologies such as
wind turbines and photovoltaics. Objective of this study is to analyze the use and
effectiveness of Peltier as an electrical generator from thermal energy. The focus of the type
of heat used is low temperature heat energy. An ice is the method used to cool one of the
Peltier surfaces. Several Peltier have been used to analyze the number of voltages that can
be produced. The effectiveness for one Peltier is tested by setting different temperature on
both surfaces of the Peltier. The study found that the more Peltier was used, the greater the
electric current can be produced. 0.8 voltage can be produced from one Peltier and the
average value for using 8 Peltier is 3-6V. The type of circuit also plays a role in the research
process where the series circuit can produce a good current compared to the parallel circuit
with a recorded voltage value difference of 0.5V. The temperature difference is tested
between the two Peltier surfaces by heating the surface of the second Peltier. As a result,
the higher the temperature difference between the two Peltier surfaces, the higher the
electric current that can be generated. In conclusion, the purpose of the study can be

ABSTRACT

Potatoes are one of the world's most important foods, besides rice, wheat and more.
Potatoes are a very common food around the locals; however, peeling a potato can be an
issue for those who need it. Comparisons have been made between using a knife and the
dual-purpose potato machine. Findings showed that using this innovation, Dual Purpose
Potato Peeler is much easier to use and more time efficient. Dual purpose potato peeler is
an innovation machine that can produce a potato that has been peeled. In the process of
peeling the potatoes, the brush will turn in the bucket around 2 to 3 minutes; it can
accommodate around 4 to 6 potatoes. During the process, it also needs to use 11 liters of
water. Thismachine is called 'dual' because it is not only for peeling the potatoes, and that
the water from the potatoes was able to make a fertilizer. In this machine it uses a motor
electric to connect it to the brush by using an adapter. In conclusion, this product saves

ABSTRACT
A homestay provides an opportunity to stay with a local family for a fee. It's an affordable
accommodation alternative, ideal for independent leisure travellers of all ages, interns, gap
year students, students living abroad and anyone seeking a real and genuine travel
experience. With the fact that Covid-19 has caused a big impact to the many industries in
Malaysia including the tourism and hospitality industry, homestays are one of them.
Homestays are in need of upgrade cope with the situation these days. So, the solution is
using this Remote Homestay Accessibility and Security System for a better, safer, and
efficient experience. This system is designed to provide ease for the customers to check-
in/check-out at the homestay without the need of physical interaction between the owner and
the customers. This function is useful whena customer wants to check-in while the owner is
far away from the homestay and in areas that has high cases of Covid-19 where social
distancing is recommendable. Besides that, this system also has a security function that
notifies the owner via Telegram that there is thievery happening in the homestay. The
Ultrasonic sensor is installed facing a desired item, such as a television to be monitored so
that when the item is removed from its original location, the system detects that the item is
moved/stolen. Other than that, an automated light system is implemented to save electricity
and the light will only turn on when movement is detected by the PIR sensor

ABSTRACT

An initiative called "Smart CGT Monitoring" aims to keep track of CGT weight and LPG
leaks. The cooking gas tank is referred to as CGT in this project. The gas used for cooking is
liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). LPG is another petroleum gas that can run out and is
hazardous if it leaks since it can start fires and explosions. Additionally, every home has
probably experienced running out of gas while cooking. When this happens, we undoubtedly
feel a little hesitant to relight the fire out of concern that it would die from a gas leak. The risk
to users is very high. The objective of this study was to increase convenience while also
increasing safety when cooking. We created a project to detect gas leakage and depletion
using sensors such as the MQ6 Gas Sensor (LPG) and load cell sensors in this study.
When the weight exceeds 30 kg and the CGT is still full, the LED turns green, then yellow
when the weight reaches 23 kg -18 kg and the CGT is half empty, and finally red when the
weight reaches 18 kg and the CGT is empty. Telegram will be used to send all data. In the
event of a gas leak or reduction, a notification will be sent via Telegram, informing the user
of the situation. Furthermore, data can be obtained by changing the LED flame to determine
the level of gas consumption. Furthermore, data for gas leaks can be obtained via the
buzzer's sound. Direct solutions, such as directly opening the gas regulator from the gas
barrel if gas leaking is detected, could be improved.

ABSTRACT

Nowadays we are able to track vehicles using many applications, which helps in securing
many vehicles. Furthermore, there is a rapid increase in the occurrence of road accident.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 1.35 million death cases occur
worldwide every year, representing 2.2% of the total number of deaths. Besides that,
according to the government statistics, the recent accidents that happened from January to
September of 2022 recorded 402,626 road accident cases and 4,378 fatalities. This system
is mainly developed to automatically detect accidents and alert the victim's contact list
through the registered contact list in the system. This way, victim can seek help in time.
This is because, during an accident, the victim might get panicked, where they lose their
chances of survival. The goal of the system is to send the location, warning to alert those
whose number was registered into the system so that they can help the victim reach
medical assistance faster using GPS and GSM modules. The system comprises of
Accelerometer, Ultrasonic Sensor, GPS, and GSM module support in the message. The
Accelerometer is used to detect changes in the axis and Ultrasonic Sensor is used
primarily as the proximity sensor. Short messages that contain. [Longitude, Latitude] helps
in locating the vehicle and sends an alert stating "Possible Accident Detected".

ABSTRACT

Due to the increase in the number of vehicles, problems in the parking area must exist. This
is due to the fact that the transport infrastructure and parking facilities developed are now
irrelevant, users find it difficult to find available parking spaces, which wastes a lot of users'
time. With the implementation of a smart parking system, the proposed smart parking
system consists of an Internet of Things (IOT) module deployed on site that provides real-
time output and monitors the flow of parking in and out of the parking lot. The proposed
system counts incoming and outgoing vehicles to display the total number of parking spaces
on the LCD. Parking will be sent directly to Bot Telegram. With the implementation of a
smart parking system, customers can easily find and get an empty parking space in any
parking lot. A suggestion for the next development of the project is to develop a highly
efficient parking system suitable for malls, multi-story car parks, as well as gated and private
parking.

ABSTRACT

Discussing the background of the project study we will be doing which is the rice washing
machine. This machine is capable of washing rice more effectively, fast, and clean and can
reduce the use of labor for washing rice. Therefore, it can lead the rice washing process
because the washing machine can replace the work of traders or individuals who want to
use it. Although, this rice washing machine works semi-auto but can give a big impact on
the ricewashing process. For example, an individual who uses hands to wash rice, will cause
the handsto be weak and tired and can wash a small quantity of rice. Compared to using a
rice washing machine, it can be washed using an agitator and the rice washing quantity is
fixed at 10kg. In addition, the scope we target to use this rice washing machine is small
traders therefore, wewill discuss the statement of problems faced by them. Many problems
faced by traders to wash rice. With this rice washing machine, dealers can avoid unwanted
problems. A problem statement is a research problem of an issue existing in literature,
theory or practice that creates the need for research implementation. A research problem
can be determined and formed based on events that occur in daily life. Next, discuss the
objectives of the project. An objective is something specific, such as a goal, purpose, or
achievement. This rice washing machine also has a specific objective to achieve. The
objective of this rice washing machine is to design the project using auto desk inventor, and
to build the project using appropriate method and materials, as well as to test the result of a
project from the function. With the objective of the project, it can produce a product or
machine more perfectly and successfully. Finally, there is project scope. Project scope refer
to the work involved in producing the project and the processes used to create the project
according to its defined functions, fixed quantities and uses. The scope of the rice washing
machine is 10kg. Therefore, it is very important to research the scope before starting the
project. From the scope, we can see the method of production and the quantity of the
project needed. We found that most traders face the same problem, which is that their
hands are tired and tired when washing rice in large quantities due to age and health
factors. The findings of the study are the results of a study that has been analyzed by the
researcher through instruments of observation, interviews and questionnaires that were
analyzed to achieve the objective of the study. In addition, the findings of this study can also
be known whether the question of what is studied has been answered through all the data
that has been collected in this research in various ways such as the use of frequency
statistics, percentages, construction of tables, graphs and so on.

ABSTRACT

Cleaning has become a basic need of all human beings. Effective cleaning and sanitizing
help and protect the health of human beings directly and indirectly. This project was
developed to keep our surroundings clean and help workers to collect leaves more
efficiently. Nowadays, different devices such as electric motors, diesel engines, and robots
are being used to clean the road. But such processes need a higher cost, maintenance and
are very tough to carry out. That's why, some people still using manual method to clean the
road by using rake, broom and tongs. This problem can be solved by developing a user-
friendly roadside leaves collector. The objective of this project is to design a machine that is
able to collect leaves, to construct a machine which can be operated semi-automatic that
can be an alternative to conventional electric cleaning machine for saving energy and protect
the environment and to test the functionality of the roadside leaves’ collector machine. The
roadside leaves collector machine system using a broom and motor to collect leaves after
that the leaves were put in a bin. The bin can carry 1-2 kg of leaves and the broom can
collect leaves in about 15 minutes. The motor used was able to spin the broom in different
speed controlled by the regulator. The motor uses 240v/50Hz power. A chain and sprocket
were used to connect the scoop and scoop controller so that the machine can move easily.
The results of this project were proven that the roadside leaves collector machine is able to
collect leaves in a short amount of time. This project can still be improved in size and type of
broom. The broom can be replaced by using broom that a stiff and longer.
