Advocating for a
Tobacco-Free California

The California Youth Advocacy Network

(CYAN) changes the commercial tobacco use

culture in California's high schools, colleges

and universities, military installations, and

other youth and young adult communities by

providing knowledge, skills, and tools to

create local change for healthier
communities.

Online Trainings

The online trainings are asynchronous lessons, which

can be provided to youth advocates to complete on

their own. These trainings equip advocates with some

foundational knowledge of commercial tobacco issues.

Trainer Modules

Trainer modules are accessible kits for program

coordinators and educators. Each module includes a

training outline with a suggested icebreaker, as well as

the slides. Each presentation can be downloaded and

adjusted to fit your needs. Or you can reach out to our

team and we can customize our slides to better fit your

needs.

tobacco, retailer density, and

proximity on targeted communities.

Participants will learn the ways in

which the tobacco industry blocks

tobacco control policies in order to

continue their targeting of vulnerable

populations; and how to disrupt the

industry with local tobacco retail

policies that protect their

communities.
