Preposition

Preposition บพุ บท คือ คำทเ่ี ชื่อมระหว่าง noun, pronoun หรือ noun phrase กับคำอนื่ ในประโยค

เพื่อบอกความสัมพันธเ์ กีย่ วกับเวลา สถานที่ ทศิ ทาง จุดประสงค์ ลกั ษณะอาการ ฯลฯ
ตำแหน่ง Preposition โดยทั่วไปจะวางอยู่หน้า noun, pronoun หรือ noun phrase นั้น ซ่ึงทำหน้าท่ีเป็น
object of preposition กรรมของบพุ บท
Preposition อาจเป็นคำเดียว เช่น in, on, at หรืออาจเป็นกลุ่มคำท่ีเรียกว่า complex preposition เช่น in
front of, on top of, as out of, หรือมรี ูป V-ing เช่น concerning, considering, during, respecting
Preposition คำหนึ่งอาจมีความหมาย แตกต่างกัน ข้ึนอยู่กับการนำไปใช้ เช่น in ภายในสถานที่ เมื่อใช้เก่ียวกับ
สถานท่ี หรือ in ภายในเวลา เมอ่ื ใช้เกี่ยวกับเวลา

ตวั อย่าง preposition ในประโยค
Collon is in the bag. โคลลอนอย่ใู นกระเป๋า
Collion is on the for. โคลลอนอยบู่ นพื้นหอ้ ง
Colion is beneath the chair. โคลอนอย่ขู า้ งใต้เกา้ อ้ี
Collon is beside the phone. โคลลอนอยู่ข้างๆโทรศพั ท์
Mom camied Colon over the table. แมอ่ ุม้ โคลอนขึ้นเหนอื โตะ๊

ตัวอย่างประโยเหล่าน้ีมี preposition บอกความสัมพันธ์เก่ียวกับตำแหน่งของโคลลอน (proper noun
ชือ่ เฉพาะของสนุ ขั ตวั หน่ึง) กบั noun ตัวอื่น ได้แก่ กระเปา๋ พน้ื ห้อง เก้าอี้ ฯลฯ

noun phrase ท่ีทำหน้าท่เี ป็น object of preposition และอาจมี modifier ขยายหรือไมก่ ็ได้
รูปแบบ : preposition + (modifier)+ noun / pronoun / noun phrase

ตวั อย่าง prepositional phrase
at home, in time, with me, by reading, about what you eat and drink, from my uncle, under
the mango tree, along the busy, eight-lane highway
หนา้ ทข่ี อง prepositional phrase อาจทำหนา้ ทเี่ ปน็ adjective หรอื adverb ในประโยค กไ็ ด้ เชน่
I cannot do without your advice. Without your advice ปราศจากคำแนะนำของคุณ คือ prepositional

The dog in the bag is Collon. in the bag คือ prepositional phrase ทำหน้าท่ีเป็น adjective ขยายนาม

ประเภทของ Preposition แบ่งตามการใช้งาน

โดยทว่ั ไป preposition แบ่งออกได้ 4 ประเภท ตามการใชง้ านว่า
แสดงความสมั พนั ธเ์ ก่ยี วกับสิ่งใด ดังนี้

inside ภายใน, near ใกล้, next to ข้างๆ, off ออกจาก, on บน, onto ไปยัง, over เหนือ, to ไปถึง, toward
ไปสู่, under ข้างใต,้ underneath แฝงอยู่ภายใต้

การใช้ in, on, at เกี่ยวกบั สถานท่ี

Prepositions of purpose (แสดงจุดประสงค)์

Prepositions of manner (แสดงลักษณะอาการ)
