10 PIAA SWIMMING & DIVING CHAMPIONSHIPS 2025 Hali Flickinger Hali Flickinger is a distinguished American swimmer who competed for Team U.S.A. in the 2016 and 2020 Olympic Games. Hali is known for her remarkable achievements in the pool. Growing up in Spring Grove, Pennsylvania, she honed her skills under the guidance of coach Michael Brooks at the York YMCA Aquatic Club. A standout athlete, Flickinger became a three-time Scholastic All-American while attending Spring Grove Area High School, where she captured national titles at the YMCA Short Course championships in both 2011 and 2012 in the 200-yard butterfly, setting event records in the process. Her international accolades include a silver medal in the 4 × 200 meter freestyle relay and a bronze in the 200 meter individual medley at the 2011 FINA Swimming World Cup in Moscow. At the collegiate level, she was instrumental in leading the Georgia Bulldogs to three NCAA Division I women's team titles in 2013, 2014, and 2016. Flickinger graduated from the University of Georgia in 2017 with a degree in finance, adding a strong academic foundation to her impressive athletic career. David Lewis David R. Lewis is an accomplished individual with a rich history in competitive swimming and diving, coaching, and officiating. Educated at Haverford High School, graduating in 1964, and West Chester State College, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1973, David's path was shaped by his dedication to swimming and diving, even as he balanced military duties and work in the private sector. His competitive accolades are impressive: from the age of 7 to 28, he participated in numerous prestigious competitions, garnering titles such as the AAU Middle Atlantic State Champion in 1961 and the PIAA State Diving Champion in 1963. His diving talents earned him a spot on the All-Philadelphia Scholastic Swimming Team in 1962, and he achieved notable success in the Junior Olympics, finishing as the 1-meter champion and 2nd in 3 meters the same year. Over the years, he competed in national events against teams from Canada, West Germany, and Japan, and was inducted into the Haverford High School Sports Hall of Fame in 2008. As a coach, David served as the Head Swimming and Diving Coach at Upper Darby High School from 1974 to 1984, where he produced numerous league champions and state qualifiers. He continued to influence young athletes through coaching at summer clubs, YMCA programs, and age-group competitions, leading to even more championship titles. In addition to his coaching achievements, David has a distinguished career in officiating, serving PIAA and NCAA events from 1981 to 2024. His leadership roles include serving as a chapter rules interpreter for PIAA and as a member of the District 1 Steering Committee, where he supervised diving entries and represented officials. David's dedication to the sport extends to educational initiatives, having produced instructional tutorials for diving judging and conducting clinics for diving judges. His legacy in the swimming and diving community is further highlighted by his record as a three-time PIAA Meet qualifier and an undefeated dual meet champion throughout his high school career. With over four decades of experience as a PIAA swim and dive official, David R. Lewis has made a lasting impact on the sport. Donnie Miller Donnie Miller is a distinguished figure to Shippensburg University as both a coach and educator, renowned for his exceptional contributions both academically and athletically. Inducted into the Shippensburg University Athletics Hall of Fame in 2009, Miller is celebrated as the founder of the university's men's and women's swimming teams, showcasing a legacy that has profoundly impacted the sport at the institution. With a remarkable career spanning over two decades as a head coach, he has earned a reputation for excellence by leading his teams to unprecedented success, including 13 individual national titles and a staggering graduation rate of 90% among his students. His innovative approach and commitment to fostering talent have established him as one of the most successful coaches in PSAC history, garnering four-time Coach of the Year honors. Beyond the pool, Miller's dedication to education is reflected in his extensive tenure as a professor at

PIAA SWIMMING & DIVING CHAMPIONSHIPS 2025 11 Shippensburg University, where he also made contributions to the football program. His influence extends far beyond the arena of competitive swimming, making him a revered figure in both sports and academia at SHIP. Mel Nash Mel Nash is a remarkable person in the world of swimming, known for both his remarkable athletic achievements and his impactful coaching career. Nash made a significant mark as a competitive swimmer in the 1970s, winning multiple medals at World Championships and excelling in events such as the 100 m backstroke at the Pan American Games. A graduate of Gateway High School and Indiana University Bloomington, he transitioned from an accomplished swimmer to a pioneering coach at the University of Texas at Arlington (Texas A&M), where he became the youngest head coach in NCAA history at just 22 years old. Nash later contributed to the development of many national team members during his tenure at Texas A&M University, earning accolades for his coaching excellence in both men's and women's swimming. He continues to be involved in the sport through his coaching at North Florida Swimming Club, where he nurtures the next generation of competitive swimmers alongside his wife. With a family legacy in the sport—his children also excel in swimming—Mel Nash's dedication to swimming spans both his personal achievements and his lifelong commitment to coaching. Tom Tretheway (1964) Thomas George Trethewey, born on May 8, 1944, in Gary, Indiana, is a distinguished American former competitive swimmer renowned for his remarkable achievements in the sport during the 1960s. A standout athlete at Mt. Lebanon High School in Pittsburgh, Trethewey went on to make his mark at Indiana University, where he excelled under the guidance of legendary coach Doc Counsilman. His impressive accolades include being the 1965 NCAA Champion in the 200-yard breaststroke and contributing to the winning medley relay team that same year. Trethewey also showcased his prowess at the international level, representing the United States at the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.
