Peristiwa tentera bergajah The Elephant Army
Setelah pengajaran dan pembelajaran anak-anak dapat 1. Membaca surah Al – Fil dan terjemahan. 2. Menceritakan peristiwa tentera bergajah.
Kisah ini ALLAH ceritakan dalam Al Quran surah Al Fil (1 – 5). Kisah ini menceritakan bagaimana pasukan tentera bergajah gagal menyerang kaabah. Allah tells this story in Al Quran Surah Al Fil. It tells how the elephant army failed to attack the kaabah.
• Tidakkah engkau mengetahui bagaimana Tuhanmu telah melakukan kepada angkatan tentera (yang dipimpin oleh pembawa) Gajah, (yang hendak meruntuhkan Kaabah)? • Bukankah Tuhanmu telah menjadikan rancangan jahat mereka dalam keadaan yang rugi dan memusnahkan mereka? • Dan Ia telah menghantarkan kepada mereka (rombongan) burung berpasuk-pasukan, - • Yang melontar mereka dengan batu-batu dari sejenis tanah yang dibakar keras, - • Lalu Ia menjadikan mereka hancur berkecai seperti daun-daun kayu yang dimakan ulat.
This event happened in 571 AD, in the city of Mecca, the year of the Prophet was borned. Mecca is visited by many people because is located in a strategic place. Mekah is in the middle of the trade route between the north and south of the Arab Peninsular. People also visited the kaabah, making Mecca even more busy and crowded.
Meanwhile, the Yemeni governor named Abrahah, who ruled in the city of Sanaa’ , began to feel jealous when he saw people visiting the kaabah. He began to think how to make more people visit Sanaa’ than Mecca.
Then Abrahah built a large and magnificent church called Al Qulais. He hopes that by building the church he can divert the public’s visit from Mecca to the city of Sanaa’.
But when Abrahah found out that people were still visiting the kaabah, he became angry. Abrahah ordered his army to prepare war equipment to destroy the kaabah.
Abrahah with his army has moved to attack Mecca and then destroy the Kaabah. Abrahah brought 60 thousand soldiers. They also brought elephants to carry their war equipments.
When approaching the city of Mecca, Abrahah’s army seized the property and livestock of the Meccans, including 200 camels belong to Abdul Mutalib.
Abdul Mutalib is the prophet’s grandfather. He is the leader of the city of Mecca and the key holder and guardian of the kaabah. He was informed about his camel that was seized by Abrahah.
Abdul Mutalib bravely went to see Abrahah to confirm the truth of the story that his camels had been seized by Abrahah’s army.
Abdul Mutalib asked, “O Abrahah, why you come here with this large force ?” Abrahah replied, “I came to attack the kaabah. The kaabah has caused people not to visit Sanaa’, while I have built a more beautiful and magnificent church there .”
Abrahah asked, “Why you come here?” Abdul Mutalib replied, “I would like to ask you to return my 200 camels.”
Abrahah was puzzled why Abdul Mutalib asked for the return of his camels and not to stop his army from destroying the kaabah. “I’m the owner of the camel, while the kaabah does not belong to me. The kaabah is belong to Allah, who takes care of it.”
Abrahah agreed to return Abdul Mutalib’s camels but arrogantly continued his goal of attacking the kaabah. Abdul Mutalib told the peole of Mecca to hide in the hills while waiting for the situation to return calm.
Abdul Mutalib and the people of Mecca evacuated Mecca and moved to the surrounding hills to protect themselves and their families from being attacked by Abrahah’s army.
Then Abrahah ordered his army to destroy the kaabah.
At a place called Wadi Muhassar (located between Mina and Muzdalifah) suddenly the elephants stopped and did not want to walk. These elephants sat as if their leg were tied.
Abrahah was surprised and angry. He ordered his soldiers to beat the elephants to make them walk.
The soldiers beat the elephants to make them walk, but it didn’t work. The elephants did not move from their place.
Suddenly from the sky came a huge flock of birds.
These birds carry hot stones. Each one carries three stones. One in the beak and each in between the toenails.
