Beware of phishing scams

Phishing scammers email you to get personal details such as passwords, and these can be sold to other
fraudsters and used to commit crimes like identity theft and bank fraud. This scam is not limited to
email as requests can also come via phone call (vishing), text message (smishing) and letter. The contact
may disguise themselves as a reputable organisation.

Genuine organisations will never contact you by email or text asking you to click
on a link and provide passwords or other sensitive information. If you receive an
email, phone call, text, or letter out of the blue never give personal details. If you’re
worried it might be genuine, find the contact details for the organisation through a
trusted source and get in touch with them independently.

Look out for common signs of a scam message, such as bad grammar, spelling errors, and
strange web links and ‘from’ email addresses. Be vigilant – as with all scams, phishing
attempts can be hard to spot.

We are looking to recruit volunteers for a variety of roles
including a Volunteer Coordinator within the Home Library
Service in Martock and the surrounding villages so that we can
raise awareness of the availability of the service and support
individuals who cannot get to the library due to poor health or
mobility or caring responsibilities but still enjoy reading . A Royal
Voluntary Service volunteer will choose, deliver, and befriend an
individual in their own home.

The Volunteer Coordinator will liaise with the library to arrange
book deliveries, be involved in inducting new volunteers and
arranging training and safeguarding procedures and be a first
contact for volunteers’ queries and concerns. They will arrange
volunteer cover when required and ensure relevant forms are
completed and sent monthly. They will also organise rounds if
necessary (only Martock and Yeovil) and to assign volunteers to
customers, and undertake a phased in HLS records system, as
well as assisting the Service Manager with recruitment.

Home Library Service Volunteers deliver and collect
books/DVDs/CDs to older people who may be housebound or
have mobility issues. They help combat loneliness, as well as
seeking their reading and listening preferences, check they are
well and report any concerns to the appropriate person. Driving
license and own car is required if driving as part of the service.
There is a flexible time service and training and materials will be
provided by Royal Voluntary Service. Location is local and
expenses are paid at the rate in our expenses policy.

If you would like to know more about volunteering for the
Home Library Service please contact
