Morning Tub Materials
Below you will find a list of
April Materialsrecommended materials for the
morning tubs. These materials are not required; however, I wanted to
include them, just in case you are interested. Some of the same materials
from previous months can be used, as well.

Morning Tub Breakdown
Class Journals - Place these writing cards, along with the picture and word
August/Septembercards, in a morning tub with the monthly class journal.
I suggest leaving this tub open-ended. Some students may want to write
about a current event happening in the classroom (or something else) while
others may need more guidance.
Glue the model pages at the front
of the composition notebook.
Students can refer back to this, if
needed, as they write. In my class, I
have allowed students to do a
“joint journal entry.” This means two
or three students work together to
write a story, comic strip, etc. They
absolutely LOVED this!

August/SeptemberI Can Make Words – Students will build as many words with the
given letters – springtime. They will write the words they can make
on their writing sheet. For an extra bit of hands-on fun and fine motor
practice, students can then trace the words in glitter sand using a
paintbrush or can build the words using playdough.

Telling Time to Hour and Half Hour – Students will match the analog clock
to the digital clock. Students can use real clocks to help them, if necessary.

Flower Frame It!– Students will solve each problem. They can record
their thinking on the mat and uses the twenty frame to help them.
