What is an electric motor

An electric motor is an electrical device that
converts electrical energy into mechanical
energy. There are many types, each of which
has different properties in terms of speed or
power. Can be divided according to the
nature of use, can be divided into 2 types,
namely AC electric motors and DC electric
motors.

Type of electric motor

AC electric motors

It consists of 2 main parts: the part that acts to
change electrical energy is the coil in the stator And
the part that provides mechanical energy is the
rotor.
AC electric motors are divided into 2 types as
follows.

1.Synchronous Motor
2.Induction Motor

DC electric motors

The type of DC electric motor depends on the
connection between the Field Coils and armature
coil Which is divided into 3 types as follows

1.Shunt DC Motor
2.Serie DC Motor
3.Compound Motor

principle

operation of electric motors

An electric motor is an electrical device that
converts electrical energy into mechanical
energy and will be expressed as the power on
the shaft To be a power source to be used with
various machines. normal operation of the
motor Most of the electricity is generated by
the interaction between the magnetic fields of
the magnets in the motor and the magnetic
field Caused by the current in the coil causing
the attraction and repulsion of the two
magnetic fields.

control

AC electric motor

There are two ways to control the speed: choose
the speed. You can choose whether you want the
motor to rotate at low speed or high speed. The
second type is the control type to rotate in order of
speed. In this way, the motor will always spin at low
speed first and then at high speed. Achieved by
using relays to help control. As for decelerating from
high to low the motor must be stopped and then
restarted at low speed. Suitable for work with a large
load on the motor shaft.

There are many ways to control the direction of
rotation, such as using a switch connected to the
power circuit to change the direction of rotation.

DC electric motor

Speed can be controlled by adjusting the voltage
supplied to the motor. which can be adjusted not to
exceed the maximum voltage supplied to the
motor. torque control section This is done by
controlling the current through the armature and
stator windings. Currently, it is commonly used to
control with a Pulse Width Modulator or PWM circuit.
(using the method of supplying power to the motor
periodically by controlling the voltage is to adjust
the amplitude of the pulse supplied)

The direction of rotation can be controlled by
reversing the polarity of the power supply to the
motor. May be used to switch polarity by hand. Use
electronic circuits or relay circuits to control.
