Drop Off Rules &Requirements
Hello, I am Samantha and I run the recycling schemes from my home garage. I do
apologise, but here is the important information, about the when, how, what, and
where etc.
We are normally open for drop offs (no appointment required) on TUESDAYS (8am till
8pm) and SATURDAYS (10am till 7pm), other days/times are available by
appointment only, please contact us to arrange. There are two brown external
outdoor storage boxes that we put at the front of our home on drop off days, please
pop your segregated and bagged items into either of these boxes. Please do not put
loose items into the boxes, it takes ages to pick it all out. If the boxes are not out at
the front, please do not leave items, even when bagged, the bags can be ripped open
by domestic pets and wildlife or can be subjected to the British weather, (we cannot
put soggy items into cardboard boxes to send off) and we would hate for any of the
items to contaminate the environment. If you are dropping off any large quantities,
please let us know beforehand so we can ensure that there is space available in the
boxes and garage.
Each of the recycling schemes operate independently and they all have their own sets
of rules that we must comply with. I am sure you can all appreciate that the sorting,
boxing, weighing, sending off etc takes a huge number of hours every week, and
because of this, it is imperative that all the items dropped off are properly sorted and
separated into their relevant schemes. We cannot send-off mixed boxes. If items are
not separated, it can easily quadruple the time it takes us to hand sort everything to
box up and get ready to send. Each picture in this booklet is a separate scheme and
contains the details of what is and is not accepted waste.
Schemes can change at any time (this is out of our control), please join our active
Facebook page for all the latest news and information.
We cannot take all plastics for recycling, even if it looks the same as an item that we
do accept. Each scheme is sponsored by different manufacturers and they will not
pay to recycle packaging from items that they do not produce. EG, the R&B Home
Hygiene scheme (sponsored by Dettol, Vanish, Airwick and Finish) will accept the
packaging from home cleaning wipes, but they will NOT accept the packaging from
baby wipes. They do not produce baby wipes so they will not pay for the packaging to
be recycled.
If you are unsure of anything, please ask.

Please remember: -
Please DO NOT drop off items if you or any member of your household are ill,
have any CV19 symptoms or are quarantining.
Please follow social distancing rules and remember to use hand sanitiser or
wash your hands before and after dropping off etc and wear a face covering if
possible.
If you are dropping off in a car, parking is limited, please be courteous to our
neighbours and DO NOT block drives or the road.
ONLY ITEMS ON THE ACCEPTED WASTE PICTURES CAN BE RECYCLED (in this
booklet), please DO NOT drop off items that are not listed, we cannot recycle all
plastics. If you are unsure, please ask.
All items need to be SEPARATED and BAGGED into their specific recycling
schemes.
Crisp packets etc please try to flatten (weighing down with heavy items for a day
or two helps) or fold a pile in half and pop inside another packet to form a “crisp
packet brick”. DO NOT tied in knots or triangles.
Nuts, popcorn, and pretzel packets, please keep separate as these can only go in
one of the crisp schemes and not the other.
Mini cheddars and twiglets go in the Pladis biscuit, cracker, and cake scheme
please, not in the crisp scheme.
Pet food pouches, MUST be CLEAN and DRY. Please flatten all pouches
(especially those with gussets) and tie in bundles of 50 to keep flat.
Baby food and yoghurt pouches MUST be CLEAN, DRY and have their lids on.
All plastic MILK bottle tops MUST be CLEAN and DRY. (No other food or drink
bottle tops please (except for those mentioned in the “NOTES” below).
Pringle tubes can be flattened, but DO NOT leave the plastic lids inside, please
bag these separately.
Please remove as much product from the items as possible, (only pet food
pouches, baby food pouches, yoghurt pouches, cheese packaging and milk
bottle tops require washing.
Notes regarding accepted plastic bottle tops/lids: -
Plastic milk bottle tops from dairy milks (Milk Bottle Lids Scheme).
Lids and tops from beauty and personal care items, such as shampoo, shower
gel, deodorants etc (Garnier - Beauty and Personal Care Scheme).

Top Tips: -
Use stretchy bread bags to separate your items into the different schemes.
Pop small sweet and chocolate wrappers inside larger sweet bags.
Use Pringle tubes to segregate items such as pens, toothbrushes etc.
Fold flattened crisp packets and pop inside another crisp packet to form a
“crisp packet brick”.
Please do not get overwhelmed with all the different schemes, to start, choose
just three or four. When you are comfortable with those schemes, add in a
couple more. But only if you want to.
Please remember: -
We DO NOT ACCEPT the following items for recycling, even if they look identical to
packaging that we can take. These schemes are sponsored by manufacturers and
they will not pay for the recycling of things they do not make. There are no schemes
available to us that accepts any of these items: -
No frozen food packaging, including meat, vegetables, ice cream and ice lollies.
No soft drink packaging, pouches, bottles, or lids.
No tetrapaks, coffee cups, juice boxes etc.
No glass jars or bottles.
No razors or sharps, these pose a health and safety hazard.
No batteries.
No rice, pasta, lentils, pulses, or noodles packaging.
No breakfast cereal, loose granola, or porridge oats packaging (granola and oat
bars packaging can go in the biscuit, cracker, and cake scheme).
No baby wipe packaging, only face cleansing wipes and household cleaning
wipes packaging please and No actual wipes.
No tea bags or loose tea packaging or hot chocolate packaging.
No fruit or vegetable packaging, including fresh, frozen, or dried.
No meat packaging, fresh, frozen or snacks i.e., fridge raiders etc.

only stretchy plastic we can recycle is from loaves of bread, bakery items and

No light bulbs please.
No ring pulls from food tins or food tins themselves.
Thank you everyone for all your patience and understanding.
