WELCOME RUNNERS!
Motivation, determination and a lot of hard work brought you to
this point and this year's marathon. This weekend is all about
you! Your event might be a means to achieve a healthier you, to
test yourself at a new distance or to achieve a personal
goal. Whatever the reason, this is your race! You all are
inspiring athletes and we are glad that you have chosen us to be
part of your moment.
While you were busy training, we have been working hard behind
the scenes with a team of over 2,000 volunteers to ensure that
you have the best race experience. This year we are pleased to
announce the replacement of the near mile-long bike path that
runs from Craig Park in Painted Post to a small walking bridge
near the Interstate Highway 86 underpass tunnel. The former six-
foot wide bike path was replaced with a new 10-foot wide path
and signage along the path was replaced. The bike path is an
integral part of the Wineglass Marathon helping to keep runners
safe. We have made some important changes this year to ensure that you have the best experience. Bus pickup from
Corning will no longer be on Market Street. Bus pickup will be located on Tioga Avenue. In addition, we have made traffic
changes on Victory Highway. Only the westbound lane will be open to traffic on Sunday, October 4th between 7:00 am –
1:00 pm.
Whether you are running the Corelle 5K, the half or full, have a great weekend!

CORELLE 5K
We are excited to welcome Corelle as the first title sponsor for any Wineglass race. As part
of the 5K course, runners will pass by the World Kitchen factory on Tioga Avenue where all
the world’s Corelle is made!
This year’s participants will receive a long-sleeved cotton tee,
and Corelle is making a special “run” of their very popular 28
ounce bowl for 5K registrants only.
Show your 5K bib at the Corningware, Corelle & More store at
114 Pine Street in Corning to pick up your commemorative
bowl. For the first time in the history of our 5K, all finishers will receive a medal.
MEET COLLEEN KELLY ALEXANDER
With her indomitable spirit and incredible story of survival, Colleen
Kelly Alexander teaches us all that regardless of the situation, ad-
versity or obstacle, the power to triumph is universal – even in the
face of seemingly insurmountable odds.
In 2011, while cycling home from work, Colleen was run over by a
multi-ton freightliner. Crushed, ripped apart and bleeding out, she
flatlined twice, spent five weeks in a coma and has since endured
multiple surgeries. Defying diagnoses, dire predictions and death,
Colleen stunned doctors by bucking the odds and coming back to
participate in more than 50 races and complete 15 triathlons, in-
cluding 4 half Ironman events since her trauma. On October 4th,
almost four years later to the day of her horrific accident, Colleen
will run the Wineglass Half Marathon!
Aside from competing, Colleen campaigns for bicycle safety and is
an official Red Cross spokesperson. She is a doer, mentor, motiva-
tor and staunch advocate for those reaching to achieve their highest goals.
You can meet Colleen throughout the weekend at the Expo, Corelle 5K, the Pasta Dinner at the Radisson and you can
see her at the Finish Line.

GOOD LUCK, SERGEANT MIKE CASE
New York State Police Sergeant Mike Case has been a fixture at the Wineglass Marathon for years. Patrolling the
course, securing resources, keeping runners and spectators safe, Sergeant Case’s leadership has been invaluable.
Retiring after 32 years with the State Police, Mike will be missed for his tireless
contributions to the community, regional and even national events. He served
as the long-time Officer in Charge for the LPGA Corning Classic and stepped in
to help with Hurricane Sandy support, 9/11 clean up, and the recent statewide
manhunt for two prison escapees.
“I couldn’t have succeeded at everything in my career if it weren’t for my
family. My wife held down the fort every time I was called upon by the State to
respond to anything, anywhere, at any time,” said Case.
From everyone at the Wineglass, thank you for your guidance and support!

2 MILES = 2 IMPROVEMENTS
Making the runner experience safer and more enjoyable each year is a hallmark of the Wineglass. We listened to your
feedback and are delighted to share two big changes this year that both full and half marathoners will enjoy.
WIDER LANE ON VICTORY HIGHWAY SR 415 (Mile 19 Full; Mile 6 Half)
Vehicle traffic this year is one way only to allow a wider lane for runners. Cars will only be allowed to travel westbound,
leaving the entire eastbound lane and shoulder for runners. A “pinch point” on the course for years, we hope you like the
extra room on this one mile stretch.
Steuben County Sheriff Deputies Brooke Payne and Michael Ramirez will patrol
this section of SR 415 on specially equipped mountain bikes purchased for them
by the Wineglass.
WIDER & RENOVATED BIKE PATH (Mile 22.5 Full; Mile 9.4 Half)
The Villages of Painted Post and Riverside partnered with the Wineglass to
widen and fix this 1.1 mile section of the course. The paved path safely
bridges runners toward the finish. Finished just last month, this major project
was made possible by the Villages, grants and a $50,000 donation from the
Wineglass. Not only will you appreciate this enhancement, but residents and
visitors are enjoying it as well!
YOUR SAFETY IS
OUR PRIORITY!

WINEGLASS COMMEMORATIVE POSTER
Starting the poster tradition in 2014, the Wineglass team is pleased to feature
another local artist’s work in the 2015 poster. Corning resident Barbara Hall
Blumer created the artwork for this year’s Wineglass poster. Her oil painting
“Breakthrough” captures the landscape that local runners enjoy in the Finger
Lakes Region.
In addition to being a painter, photographer, and jewelry designer, Barbara
Blumer is an avid food blogger whose Feast Everyday blog is a local favorite
go-to for recipes. Visit her studio and gallery at 11 West Market Street at the
Wineglass finish line when you’re in town or visit her website at
www.barbarahallblumer.blogspot.com
Posters will be on sale at the Expo and the Information
Center (One West Market St.) for $10 each.
