RULES & REGULATIONS FOR THE ENGLISH STORY TELLING

COMPETITION (SELANGOR STATE LEVEL) 2022

1. Objectives : (a) Instill the important of English studies among
Chinese Primary pupils and to raise their standard.

(b) Foster better understanding between the teachers and
pupils.

2. Entry qualification : All existing Chinese Primary School pupils are eligible to
participate.

3. Participation : (a) District Preliminary Competition - Maximum 2 pupils
per school.

(b) State Level Competition - Champion and first runner-
up from each District Preliminary Competition.

4. Allocation of time : Every participant is given 5 minutes. If time is exceeded,
one mark will be deducted for every 30 seconds. Timing
starts when the speaker starts his/her story.

5. Adjudication : Pronunciation : 30% Intonation : 30%
Expression : 20 % Content : 20%

6. Judges : To be decided by the respective committee.

7. Prizes : (a) District Preliminary Competition - Prizes will be decided
by the respective District Committee.

(b) State Level Competition –
1 - 5 - Distinctive Prizes
6 - 10 - Merit Prizes
11 - 23 - Consolation Prizes

allowed to wear lounge suit, tie or bow.

(b) Contestants are not allowed to use props, pictures or
cardboards

(c) Contestants who are late by 15 minutes or more will
be disqualified.

13. The organizing committee reserves the right to add, delete or amend the above regulations where
necessary. The decision of the organizing committee is final.

COMPETITION (SELANGOR STATE LEVEL) 2022

1. Objectives : (a) To raise the English Language standard in Selangor
Chinese Primary School.
2. Participation
3. Format of paper (b) To promote goodwill and good relationship among
teachers and pupils in the state.

: Each school is entitled to submit 4 participants for the
competition.

: (a) The paper consists of 100 multiple choice
questions.

(b) All questions will be set by the appropriate panel
appointed by the organizing committee.

4. Prizes : District Level : To be decided by the respective District
Committee.
5. Date of competition
6. Venue of competition State Level : (a) Individual

1st – 3rd,
4 - 10 for Distinctive Performance,
11 - 20 for Merit Prize (Total of 20
Prizes )
(b) Team - First to third prize
(c) Certificates will be awarded
