Dear Younger Me

Hello, you are small and young, and also me
But guess what, I’m also young and small!! You may feel so
mature and cool but please trust me if an adult tells you to do
something or says to wait then it’s probably for a good reason.
Please don’t push yourself too hard, but also don’t give up. When
high school hits it kind of goes downhill pretty fast, like, a rat
strapped to a roller skate with rockets on it going down a hill fast.
Keep your head up, motivation is hard to come by but if you can
really focus and try your best you’ll get stuff done and learn how
to do things in a way that keeps you on top of things and mentally
cool and good. :)
Also, do sport, put effort into exercising and stuff, I am very unfit
and it is not fun having to do sport right now, so, uh, yeah go
do sport. If you have a problem please tell someone, get your
thoughts out there girl. Preferably a responsible adult that you
trust, some adults do not know what’s up and saying things can
get you in trouble, but trust your gut and be confident in your
thoughts and feelings (it’s okay if you’re not though, you can talk
to someone about that too).
Uh, you go girl, from your slightly* suffering older self
*quite a fair bit more than slightly**
**for legal reasons this is a joke.

Dear younger me,
I would like to advise you not to play video games as they are
fun, but you get addicted to them pretty easily. So that means
you would come home after school to play or even quit the sports
game you love just to play. You would also stay at home all the
time just to play and ignore everyone so you can play all day and
all night. So, if you’re already addicted to them or still addicted
to playing games, you would lose lots of friends because you are
just playing video games all the time and they don’t play them.
And your grades would also go down because all you are doing is
playing games in the middle of your classes and you also wouldn’t
stop talking about them. Your health would go down as well
because you are barely getting outside for fresh air and all you
would do is sit in front of your Television or whatever you use and
you would also get unhealthy because you would turn lazy from
sitting inside instead of going outside and having fun.

Music

2020 was a very challenging year for the music program
with the shift to online learning.
In Term 4, Kris Cheeseman prepared her students for exams
and Jessica Brady hosted the College’s first participation in the
nationwide “Music Count Us In”. This program was a digital
link-up with schools all over Australia, involving rehearsing and
playing together a song specially composed by school students.
Our primary students played mostly percussion instruments and
enjoyed participating in this event despite not being able to
sing in the link-up.
