“As omnivores, many resent vegans for reminding them of the suffering they cause the innocent, for they would rather be kept comfortable and keep all the ugliness of their selfish choices hiddenaway. And yet that comfort has nothing to do with justice and it certainly cannot ever bring authentic inner peace. For it is the comfort of blocking out and dismissing and disconnecting, and it always comes with a terrible price. Nonvegans may rationalize their meals by saying they always thank the animal's spirit for offering his or her body to nourish us, or at the very least profess a gratitude for the animals 'sacrifice.' And yet if someone were to lock us up, torture us, steal our children, and then stab us to death, would we acquiesce as long as they promised to thank our spirit afterwards? And does anyone actually believe that any animal willingly offers to be murdered, regardless of how that killing is committed? Disconnecting in convenience and desensitizing in comfort is actually the opposite of inner peace, which is the state ofcontented being to which we all so deeply aspire, and which is the fruit of an awareness of interconnection while living in an active alignment with the same. A consequent appreciation of our moral connection with ALL other sentient life is essential, and as such thisstate of contented being can only come by Being Vegan.” ~ inspired by Will Tuttle125
