Resume and cover letter
In a resume and cover letter it would be beneficial to provide a link to a professional
profile because it would better present a more sophisticated look for a specific field.
Furthermore, the use of social network is increasing due to many employers looking online
since it’s an easier way to conduct background checks and what kind of person an employee is.
A professional summary should not include any fluff, because it does not add any real value to
the resume though it is better to demonstrate it through what has been accomplished. Most
hiring managers would not spend more than a few minutes reviewing a cover letter so it’s best
be straightforward and to the point, because no one wants to read a page long cover letter
when there are hundreds of other job seekers as well. As you go through your college years it is
better to substitute your high school experiences until you no longer depend on your high
school self. Job employers are not interested what had been done in the past but what is being
accomplished recently. The use of pronouns would be unnecessary because it will be repetitive
of using “I”and it is implied that everything on the cover letter would pertain to the individual.
It should be concise and easy to read since the resume is a document about a person. In the
video it informs that a cover letter gives an insight to what kind of person they are and the
interest of the job position. As well the qualifications that would make a good candidate for the
position thats is bein applying for. As well the focus should be on how the job seeker meet an
employer’s need, not the overall of a person’s whole life. An effective cover letter would
increase the probability of landing a job.

Career paper
I decided on this career in my high school years because at a young age I was involved in
taking care of different kind of animals. In my childhood I would take in injured birds and raised
them till they were healthy enough to survive on their own. As well I inspired myself to choose
this career since I was very fond of animals and I had enjoyed helping them in their time of need.
Fuerheremor, it creates a great responsibility to handle another life other than my own. It is
impacting not only in the patient but also their owner in being able to be trusted with someone
that dear to them. The overall experience is rewarding in doing something that would benefit to
the healthy living of the patient. Another essential point is the personality type and the job is very
compatible with some few minor issues regarding to the work. I am very extrovert that projects
an energetic atmosphere that attracts the social gathering of making new friends wherever I go. I
can be very fun in the workplace but can be serious when needed to in order to get the job done.
The job would require a certain level of physical fitness to be able to sustain the patient when
performing any medical means for their own safety. In which may be risky at times when dealing
with big or strong patients in the workplace such as mastiffs or any other animal at that. I have a
great personality that would find compassion for every patient but be considerate of their
suffering in certain cases. I am straightforward with individuals which would be in their best
interest when dealing with serious matters. Addiotionally, the aspect of being trustworthy goes a
long way when putting other people’s problems before my own. In being concentrated on the

Ruiz 2

objectives at hand without being distracted by any other means in the work area. It significantly
matches with my job interest in being a vet technician and provides a well presentation of my
personality overall. Vet technician is a high demanding job that would require sacrifices at time
but it’s an exciting career.

Veterinary technicians usually have a 2 year degree. In earning an associate’s degree can
be a good first step into the field. It allows me to enter the workforce sooner and quickly learn
hands-on experience within the entry level job. In able to earn the education I need a
postsecondary program in veterinary technician which is a 2 year program can be offered at the
Lone Star College that is in Tomball. Which would include the knowledge I’ll need in order to
use towards my job description and the experience to put to work. After completing the two year
program I would need to pass a credentialing exam Veterinary Technician National Examination
(VTNE) to be able be certified. Although, after completing the exam I would need to be licensed
in the area that I want to work in so the next step is to obtain the Licensed Veterinary Technician.
In order to stayed licensed throughout my career I am required to obtain ten hours of continuing
education annually. Equally important is certain skills that would be beneficial in the workplace
when dealing with patients. Vet technicians are like nurses in the veterinary world that provide
assistance for the veterinarian in situations. It is essential to be acquainted with math and science
which would make the job a bit easier since dealing with animals. Furthermore, the ability to stay
calm under stress because animals do not always cooperate. It is better to respond quickly when
a life may be endangered than planning out distinctively to each corresponding factor. Impulsive
can be good in the job because in being able to react accordingly with no hesitation.

Meanwhile, in veterinary clinics many may have regular office hours though might not
know when an emergency may appear throughout the day. It depends upon the roke environment

Ruiz 3

that I may choose to work in and the daily routine can be unexpected. In laboratories may be
responsible for collecting lab samples and exams on the patient if needed. In a day vet tech are
responsible for the care and feeding of the animals, as well documenting any behavior.Veterinary
technicians have the responsibility of handling the animals carefully while treating them
humanely as possible. Furthermore, observe the conditions and behavior of the patient in how
they are reacting to the medicine or other procedures. Meanwhile, may assist the veterinary in
restraining the animals while it is being examined during the exams or given its medications. At
times they may require the animals to be bathe and clipped the animal’s fur to be prepped for
surgery. Additionally, administer vaccines to the animals calculating the correct drug dosage
with the veterinary approval review. After a surgery the vet technicians would nurse the animals
back to health and keep them up to date to any meds. In some cases the technician would need to
take x-rays to see the progress of the animal’s condition. In any other health career, clinics and
labs will need to be staffed all day, because emergencies can happen at any time. Veterinary
technicians would often have a variable schedule and working long hours. Moreover,, it depends
where would it be best to work with animals in emergency, zoo or specifically with a certain type
of animal. The available career paths can be in exotic animals, dentistry, avian, and biomedical
research which are all specialized path. Those are just few examples from the endless choices
that are available in working with animals. What I would like most about this career is being able
to work with all kinds of creatures and expressing my love of animals through my work. While I
dislike is having to put to sleep animals that once meant the world to their owner, but I will help
them not to suffer anymore.

I would enroll in the vet tech program at Lone Star College Tomball Campus if I am
successfully accepted during the summer registration but as of now I am taking my prerequisites

Ruiz 4

to be able to be a candidate. As well I will be taking an internship at a community animal
hospital and be a volunteer at local animals shelter to be able to get the experience I need. After
completing my education and getting my degree I would need to be certified and licensed. Most
states will require to pass the Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE) that would
be administered by the American Association of Veterinary State Boards. As well be a licensed
veterinary technician where I will be working at for a period of time. The fact is there are more
responsibilities that a veterinary technician would need to be prepared for than what other
sources information may have. It is a new experience to try and learn new skills to be used
efficiently with patients in the way to help them get better. In order to develop my skills
effectively it’ll be prudent to have workshops in working in the specific area and working with
others to attain the experience I need. Animal clinics and hospitals would be big employers that
would be in need of vet technicians. In which can be very demanding and contain workload that
can be hectic. Over the years I have developed many skills from coursework, extracurricular
activities and my total life experiences. I have used skills which are not limited to any one
academic discipline or knowledge area, but are transferable to many occupations. A prospective
employer would expect me to be able to apply the skills I have learned in college to the work
environment.Having energy and enthusiasm for the things I enjoy. Being friendly and
connecting with people Also being very observant and noticing things that are important to me.
As well being able to improvise, adapt and react quickly when necessary at work.
