of the aesthetic appearance by correction of the superior sulcus
deformity. The expansion of the orbita more importantly stimulates
the growing of the middle face and guarantees the symmetry of the
face especially in unilateral anophthalmos.
Pin SETE’s (0.24ml)
They are injected into orbit to fill in volume in cases which have an
enophthalmic appearance inspite of presence of an implant or in
patients with microphthalmos.
Implants in Orbit wall
They are used to fill defects after craniofacial injuries and deformities Figure 9: Dermis fat graft
like superior sulcus in anophthalmic sockets .e.g.
Polyethylene rim implants in the form of
• Orbital Floor Channel implant
• Orbito zygomatic implant Fascia lata grafts and Sclera
• Enophthalmos wedges
• Extended orbital rim implants They are used for wrapping implants as well as to correct superior
• Inferior orbital rim implants sulcus deformities
• Inferior medial orbital rim implant
Auto/homologous implants Conclusion
Dermis fat graft (Figure 9)
Proper selection of the type of implant and a well executed surgical
technique goes a long way in restoring satisfactory cosmesis to the
patient.
This autologous graft is used to fill volume deficiencies in the orbit
especially in enucleated /eviscerated eyes which received no primary
implants or in whom the implants have extruded.
