PANORAMA- ANNUAL MAGAZINE

Founder-Manager , CMS Founder-Director , CMS

The cornerstone of CMS educational philosophy is a firm belief in the statement,

“Every child is potentially the light of the world, as well as the cause of its darkness;

wherefore the question of education must be accounted as of primary importance.“

CMS believes that the school has the most important role in shaping human potential.

A modern school must therefore, act as a lighthouse of society, providing meaningful

education, spiritual direction, guidance and leadership to its students, parents and society.

Ms Sushmita Basu

Superior Principal &

Head , Quality Assurance and

Innovation Department (QAID)

Truly life is a vicissitudinous journey of

experiences and our tumultuous

tryst with the upheaval unleashed by the

pandemic has been a watershed

phase in our lives. It has been a test of our

fortitude and resilience, our faith

and spirituality.

I am happy to note that we at CMS have

successfully turned this cataclysmic

adversity into an opportunity and taken

the lead in conducting online classes,

PTM’s, orientation sessions, co-curricular

activities, tests, assessments, counselling

and destressing sessions, etc.

We conducted the first comparative examination in the online mode.

Our teachers proved to be true friends, philosophers, counsellors and

guides of the students and also of the parents. Our teachers , no less

than corona warriors, worked with missionary zeal during these trying

times to keep hope afloat amidst the deluge of despair and distress.

We worked tirelessly to harness the creativity and ingenuity of the

students during this period and you will find vignettes in this edition

which are a true expression of our children’s psyche.

During the unlock phase we scrupulously planned and conducted the

offline second comparative examinations following all COVID protocols

as for us nothing is more important than the health, safety and security

of our children. The challenges were overwhelming but our team proved

equal to the task. I am personally indebted to all our esteemed parents

for reposing their faith in us .

I solicit their cooperation in all our future endeavours. God is with us

during these turbulent times. The first Pre Board examination has also

been conducted and these offline examinations have helped us in actually

assessing our students’ knowledge and preparedness for the forthcoming

Board examinations.

After a long hiatus, offline classes resumed in a staggered and phased

manner and the whole school , regardless of the meticulous observance

of the conventions of the ‘new normal’ was agog with life and activity.

Welcoming the kids back to school was truly an emotional experience

for me and all of us- it was the new dawn that we had been waiting

for-celebrating Vidya ka parv with the tiny tots, the light of our campus and

our lives was a memorable experience- it was truly a carnival but again,

with all safety checks painstakingly in place. We are now filled with a new

vigour and vim to turn them into the creative capital of the world.

Our immediate focus is obviously the Board classes and we are leaving no

stone unturned in ensuring that our students excel and perform to the best

of their abilities.

Education has become transcendental in letter and spirit and is no longer

confined to the four walls of the classroom. We have implemented so many

new pedagogical techniques, made technology an integral part of education,

effectively linked education to life and sown the seeds of a multi- disciplinary

approach to education as delineated in the NEP. We are upgrading the

infrastructure and making new professionally relevant subjects like Legal

Studies available to students to give them a wider choice.

We plan to harness the latent talents of our students and have planned

vocational courses in various subjects including music and the performing

arts. The FIITJEE classes have been running successfully. Our stress on Total

Quality Management in Education has been vindicated in the changed world

panorama.

In this annual e-magazine, we have included the stellar achievements of

our prodigious students. They have the potential, passion and panache to

reach for their own individual skies and blaze a trail of their unique talents

in the world. As I always say, kids’ minds are a gold mine of ideas, a veritable

treasure trove of thoughts, emotions and perceptions. It is very important

to make education child centric and the write ups included in this magazine

enable us to explore the magical world of their minds and hearts.

This edition will show you that when the going gets tough, the tough get

going and the efflorescence of creativity has reinforced my faith that the

canvas of the future has no shade of pessimism or cynicism. But at the same

time, it is our duty to mould these pliable and impressionable minds in such

a way that that they become unprejudiced fountainheads of idealism and

crusaders against polarisation and divisiveness of any kind.

Paradoxically, the pandemic, despite imposing social isolation on us, has

brought us emotionally and empathetically closer to one another than

nothing else and we have emerged stronger and more resilient.

I am sure this edition will make for interesting reading not only as a

compendium of the accomplishments of our students but also as an

expression of their vision and perspective, their conflicts and dilemmas,

their unspoken dreams and desires. We have great hopes from 2021.

The vaccination drive is underway. We would like to assure all our esteemed

parents, guardians and stakeholders that we are following ALL COVID

SAFETY NORMS in letter and spirit. Our altruistic teachers and self sacrificing

staff members are ensuring the safety, health and security of each and

every child. We are conscientiously committed to providing Quality Education

to our students. I would like to express my gratitude to the CMS management

for guiding us so well through this crisis. CITY MONTESSORI SCHOOL has been

a lodestar in the firmament of education and will always be.
