Cameron Valley Tea 03 This museum is one of the tourist attractions that is always the focus. The Time Tunnel Museum provides an exhibition space with the concept of memories of the past. Established in January 2007, the museum is filled with more than 4,000 collectibles and memorabilia. A museum with a concept like this is also the first in Malaysia. Cameron Highlands is very famous for the beauty and greenery of the tea plantations found in this highland. 13km from The Sheep Sanctuary, visitors can enjoy the interesting scenery and experience being in a tea farm, and don't forget to try and taste the fresh tea For strawberry fans, don't miss the opportunity to come to the strawberry farm in Cameron Highlands because Cameron Highlands is synonymous with and famous for strawberries. Cameron Highlands Flora Park 04 Other than flowers, Butterfly Park is also one of the places that must be visited when in Cameron Highlands. It is located in the Kea Farm area so it is easy to visit. This park provides unique and special butterflies, insects and animals for visitors to see and experience for themselves. This flora park is located not far from The Sheep Sanctuary because it only takes 6 minutes from the sanctuary. Here visitors will be able to see the beauty of colorful flora and flowers of various patterns and species. This flora park is also a hot spot for taking pictures because it is quite "instagrammable" and trendy. In addition to tea and strawberries, Cameron Highlands also has hidden gems, the Mossy Forest. It is a beautiful rain located on the second highest peak of Mount Brinchang. It is surrounded by trees and various types of vegetation that are all covered in moss, just like its name says. 05 Design Standard The Sheep Sanctuary is located in Kea Farm, Cameron Highlands so the place is like a hill, so there are stairs that can take visitors down to meet sheep and alpacas. Various replicas and decorations found around this sanctuary to enliven the atmosphere and also as props for visitors to take pictures. In addition, around this sanctuary there are strong fences to guard and guarantee the safety of the visitors. In this sanctuary there are also several sinks to wash hands because maintaining cleanliness and hygiene is very important, so with the presence of sinks to wash hands, visitors and workers can be kept clean. by: Mohamad Shafizal
As of June 2023, the sanctuary places about fifteen sheep and a few alpacas which visitors are able to feed them by giving them food which is given at the entrance. The animals are free to roam around inside the premise and are protected by the shepherds. According to The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture MOTAC, Cameron Highlands in general can be considered suitable for the first objective set by the ministry, which is, to empower tourism and cultural products/programs towards strengthening the nation's identity. By empowering tourism and cultural products/programs, Malaysian can celebrate their unique identity, promote cultural diversity, and strengthen the pride and sense of belonging among the citizens. Additionally, it helps attract tourists who are seeking authentic and enriching experiences, contributing to sustainable tourism and the overall development of the nation. Implementation of Tourism Policy 06 by: Danial Syahmi
IMPACT These attractive places gave an opportunity to the local people to earn an income and gave a higher quality of life for locals and an increase in the wealth of an area. They gain an income from the entrance fee that they charge to the tourist. The local people sell their crops and handcraft to tourists to earn a profit to survive and to generate their daily income hence the money will be circulating around the local people. Positive Impact 07 economy impact Example: A foreign tourist injects money into the local economy when he spends a dollar on a souvenir made by a local at the tourism destination. That individual goes on to spend that dollar on lunch from a local vendor, and that vendor goes on to spend it locally. by: Qurratu Aiman
Negative Impact Increasing in land and building costs Price increases brought on by rising visitor demand for essential services and goods can have a detrimental effect on locals whose income does not rise accordingly. Building costs and land values could increase significantly as a result of the growth in tourism and the resulting increase in real estate demand. This process, known as gentrification, frequently entails forcing locals to leave the area where tourist is concentrated. Foreign management and ownership Many companies decide to expand abroad as business costs in the developed countries rise. Although the corporation might save money by doing this, the host country's economy usually doesn't benefit as much. The economic benefit of increasing employment is reduced by the fact that foreign businesses frequently bring their own personnel with them. They typically export a sizable amount of their earnings back to the nation in which they are headquartered 08
09 social impact Positive Impact Educational and Awareness The Sheep Sanctuary offers chances for education and awarenessbuilding regarding the wellbeing of sheep and alpacas, conservation, and the ethical treatment of animals. The behaviors of the animals and how they behave when guests are present are available for tourists to learn about. A more caring attitude towards animals and the environment may result from this enhanced awareness. by: Danial Syahmi
you must be able to handle the worst. Conservation Efforts The Sheep Sanctuary is dedicated to the preservation and protection of these endangered species, which can only survive in regions with lower temperatures. Sanctuary programmes help to preserve biodiversity and safeguard ecosystems by giving these sheep and alpacas a safe sanctuary. By preserving the ecological balance and promoting sustainable growth, this also helps society at large. Negative Impact Traffic and Congestion The Sheep Sanctuary can attract a significant number of visitors, especially during peak tourist seasons such as school holidays and during the weekends. This increased traffic can lead to congestion on the road, especially if the car parks are full and the visitors need to park on the side of the road which makes the road narrower. Local residents may experience difficulties in accessing their homes or businesses due to increased traffic flow. Economic Displacement The establishment of The Sheep Sanctuary may lead to economic displacement for local industries or businesses. For example, if the sanctuary becomes a major attraction, it could draw visitors away from other tourist sites or activities such as the tea plantation farm and strawberry farms which could impact the revenue of local businesses that depend on tourism. 10
CONTROL MEASURE From the perspective of social impact, the local authorities should ensure that the parking space for the tourist attractions around are sufficient. They should assume that The Sheep Sanctuary will be receiving a heavy load of visitors as Cameron Highlands is a chosen destination for people around Klang Valley for a short gateaway. Other than that, they should also develop the place equally instead of choosing which attraction should get better infrastructures, which could lead to economic displacement for the other attractions. social impact 11
12 environmental impact Negative Impact The sheep sanctuary also raises the sheep and takes care to ensure that the sheep will not become extinct in the future. In fact, the sheep’s excrement will be given to the farmers who cultivate their crops to be used as fertilizer for their plants. Positive Impact The sheep's excrement also has an impact which is air and smell pollution. Although the management keeps the places clean, when we arrived there the smell was already detected 200 meters away. The Sheep sanctuary as we know it is a famous attraction located in Cameron Highland where it was declared as a tourism place, moreover the sheep sanctuary goes viral on the social media, and it attracts more people visiting and more public transportation that arrives there. Hence, it will become more pollution on the air pollution such as the gasses that produced by the buses and when increasing number of people visiting it may occur left of trash that can produced another pollution many more which can be affecting the environment of the places. by: Afiq Iman
analysis of impact 13 Economic Impact The presence of a sheep sanctuary can attract tourists, both from within the country and abroad. As visitors come to explore the sanctuary, they contribute to the local economy by spending money on various services and products. This includes entrance fees, guided tours, merchandise, food, and other related expenses. The flow of tourist spending can stimulate local businesses and generate revenue. Additionally, the sustainability and environmental considerations of the sanctuary's operations should be carefully addressed to ensure a balanced and responsible approach towards economic development. To lower poverty and unemployment, possibilities for employment aid in lowering local poverty levels and unemployment rates. People may obtain consistent earnings, improve their financial situation, and raise their level of living by having access to work opportunities. This may result in less reliance on social assistance programmes and an improvement in the socioeconomic climate as a whole. Job opportunities by:NurainHusnina
14 Small enterprise Compared to huge enterprises, local firms typically have a lesser ecological imprint. They frequently use environmentally friendly techniques including buying regional and organic foods, cutting down on packaging waste, and advocating for energy conservation. This might support community-wide conservation and environmental sustainability initiatives. Cost of land and construction rising The cost of raw materials like steel, cement, timber, and other building supplies has an impact on construction costs. Increased material prices may result from changes in trade tariffs, fluctuating global commodity markets, and supply chain disruptions. These elements have a direct effect on how much building projects cost overall. The length of time and expense associated with development projects can be increased by governmental constraints on land use, building rules, environmental laws, and permitting procedures. The costs associated with complying with these rules are sometimes passed on to investors and purchasers as additional costs. Economic leakage A percentage of the money earned by attractions that are significantly owned and controlled by foreigners may leave the local economy. Foreign-owned companies frequently return profits, dividends, and royalties to their home nations, cutting down the economic advantages that might otherwise stay in the area.
Social Impact By analyzing these social impact factors, people learn more about how conservation efforts affect education, traffic and congestion, and economic displacement by examining these social impact elements. This approach aids in comprehending the socioeconomic advantages of composting that go beyond its environmental benefits. Education and awareness Promoting compassion, conservation, and the welfare of animals is made possible in large part by raising public awareness of animal sanctuaries. Promote the objective and purpose, which means that you should inform people about the goal of animal sanctuaries, which is to give abused, neglected, or exploited animals a safe haven. Ensure that these animals receive lifelong care and that you encourage their natural behaviors. Conservation Efforts Animal sanctuaries support conservation efforts by safeguarding endangered animals among other things. The main goals of many animal sanctuaries are to shelter and safeguard threatened species. Sanctuaries support the preservation of these creatures and work to stop their extinction by keeping and caring for them. Rehabilitation and release programmes come next. In order to return injured or abandoned animals to the wild, certain sanctuaries are experts at treating them. These refuges help to preserve wild populations by giving animals a second chance at life through meticulous rehabilitation. Traffic and congestion A frequent problem that has an impact on both the local community and the overall visitor experience is traffic and congestion at tourist destinations. Infrastructure and transport planning is one of the major factors to take into account to prevent the issue from occurring. The local government must create a thorough transport strategy that addresses how to handle traffic and congestion. To offer practical alternatives to private vehicles, this may entail strengthening public transportation options, setting up shuttle services, designating parking spaces, implementing designated parking zones, or introducing shuttle services. Economic Displacement When tourism expansion results in the displacement of local companies, population, and traditional economic activities, it can have unfavorable effects on tourist attractions. To guarantee that the community's worries, needs, and goals are taken into account, they must be involved in the work and dialogue to address this issue. Encourage open communication and cooperation between local residents, tourism industry participants, and government officials 15
Environmental Impact To mitigate the negative impacts and maximize the positive ones, it is important to implement sustainable land management practices, such as rotational grazing, waste management systems, habitat restoration, and monitoring programs. This way, the environmental impact of the sheep sanctuary can be minimized while providing educational and cultural benefits. Conservation of animals By providing a protected habitat, the sanctuary can contribute to the conservation of sheep species, particularly those that may be endangered or facing population decline. This conservation effort helps maintain genetic diversity and prevents the loss of unique genetic traits. Sheep grazing can play a role in maintaining the balance of vegetation in the sanctuary. Controlled grazing can prevent the dominance of certain plant species, promote biodiversity, and create favorable conditions for other wildlife. Environmental-friendly compost Find out what kinds and how much organic waste is being composted to avoid going to the landfill. Food scraps, garden garbage, agricultural waste, and other organic items may fall under this category. To determine the environmental advantages of composting over more conventional waste disposal techniques, figure out how much garbage is being composted. Air pollution This may include stinky natural sources like dust or pollen as well as industrial emissions from vehicles, power plants, agricultural operations, trash incineration, and power plants. Calculate each source's contribution to determine its relative importance. Crowdedness High population density often results in limited space and overcrowding. This can lead to congested streets, cramped living or working conditions, and insufficient public spaces. The lack of personal space and privacy can negatively impact the quality of life for residents and workers in the area. 16
For the comfort of visitors, facilities are very important, so the management should make plans to add and diversify facilities to guarantee the comfort and safety of visitors who come to this sanctuary center. This is because to maintain the arrival of visitors to always come to this sanctuary. future planning To attract more visitors, promotion is a very good method. So, The Sheep Sanctuary can use existing technology to make social media platforms a key to promoting this sanctuary. This is because social media has more and wider engagement of people, so it will be able to introduce this sanctuary to the public. 17 1.Increase facilities 2.
