Enabling Innovation and Growth


The International Islamic Food Processing Association (IFPA) was established under the auspices of the specialized institution of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) - the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS). IFPA’s operational activities started in 2021. It operates under English Law. Developing competitive agro-industries is critical for creating job and income possibilities in the OIC member-states, given that more than 52% of the OIC population lives in rural regions and relies on agriculture. The organization’s mission is to facilitate private-sector-led trade and investment across all agri-food ecosystem players for sustainable development of food security in IOFS and OIC member states. In March 2022, the association began its strategic transformation. It started the relocation process to the United Arab Emirates and registration with Dubai Association Centre (DAC). IFPA has 45 active Honorary and Corporate Members, including: Tajikistan’s Chamber of Commerce Kazakhstan’s Meat and Grain Unions Uzbekistan’s Oil and Fat Union Uzbekistan Food Industry Association Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) Guinean Chamber of Commerce and Industry Tunisian Union of Industry, Commerce and Handicrafts (UTICA) IFPA cooperates with the private sector of IOFS member countries such as Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkey, UAE, Morocco, Qatar, Guinea, Pakistan, Nigeria, Sudan, etc. Partnership agreements were signed with IsDB Group entities (ICD, ITFC, ICIEC) in September 2021. The core membership services have been designed based on a review of global and regional best practices of industry associations from across multiple geographies. TRADE FINANCING Providing trade financing/project funding (in conjunction with IFPA’s partners) ADVISORY Providing legal assistance (business setup, contracting, arbitration center); providing information on regulations (Halal, ISO, fair-trade, wastage/sustainability certification/training), quality compliance and support in implementing technology (agri-tech, automation, digital transformation), acquiring investment, etc. EVENT AND BUSINESS MATCHING Organizing conferences and webinars to facilitate networking and business matching INTELLIGENCE Providing the latest industry research, e-newsletters, annual reports and a database of companies and contacts TRAINING AND EDUCATION Organizing online workshops, courses and training in partnership with OIC and global sector institutions TALENT DEVELOPMENT Providing access to an OIC-focused agri-food sector job portal, as well as providing a list of agri-food related universities within OIC for recruitment Enabling the growth of companies’ food export to support IOFS/OIC member states in reducing import dependency and address seen and unforeseen crises (e.g., COVID-19) Enabling and supporting champion companies from OIC countries across key essential food sub-sectors Identifying and disseminating OIC success stories across wider OIC markets through thought leadership Facilitating and promoting a quantifiable reduction in food wastage, postharvest losses and sustainable agricultural growth Enabling innovative technology platforms for OIC food trade and development growth Making IFPA self-sufficient and financially sustainable OBJECTIVES
