The sense of security
during these pandemic times

Everything in this world changed in a matter of seconds. Fear took over with the emergence of a virus that has taken over
us. Covid-19 is impacting the world and claiming lives. We have lost loved ones, warm hugs, sincere handshakes, and
family bonding time. No one is exempted from this pandemic, and sadly - even bringing people to financial hardship.

We want PSMBFI members to know they are not alone. In the beginning of the pandemic in 2020, PSMBFI extended financial
assistance through its ‘Patawid Covid Program’ to express gratitude to members - being at the frontlines and rendering selfless
service. Financial assistance was also extended to qualified Covid-19 infected members.

Covid-19 still exists today with quarantine classifications still being implemented in varying lengths. Nevertheless, PSMBFI is
responding to a variety of ways in order to meet the needs of its members. Being the first responders to high-risk operations, PSMBFI
members are vulnerable to infection and the dangers that go with their profession.

We are also aware of the Covid-19-related death toll in the PNP. The Association has processed claims which post-mortem
examination showed that the member contracted the virus. The daily cases of infection push the number of active cases and police
personnel should have life insurance from a dependable provider. Being members of PSMBFI, they have peace of mind and their
financial worries are lessened during uncertain times.

Our face-to-face interaction and engagement with members are in observance to social
distancing. This is to comply with the protocols of social isolation or distancing procedures. Also,
for the safety of members and employees returning home to their families as not to compromise
their health and immune system.

More than ever, we are making use of the internet as a platform for our social media contents,
virtual meetings, and online service operations. This way, we will be able to engage with as many
members across the country.

To provide members with convenience, we are continuously meeting representatives of
remittance centers, courier services, and banks to support our initiatives. This way, we will be
able to respond to challenges by enhancing the delivery of PSMBFI services.

The adage that “life goes by in the blink of an eye so live life” is timely. PSMBFI members
will always have their stories to tell - on how they are responding to this pandemic, performing
operational or service-related duties, and maintaining peace and order despite the surge of infected
cases. They surely deserve the best services from PSMBFI.

Truly, we can learn so much from one another by understanding how each are coping up with
life. We will never lose hope that Covid-19 will finally end and all will be back to normal.

PSMBFI distributes its ‘blue bundle of joy’ to the
patients of the PNP General Hospital

The giving of Christmas gifts is a symbol of love and a gesture to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. The Public Safety
Mutual Benefit Fund, Inc. has a yearly tradition called the “Pamaskong Handog” to share with patients confined at the PNP
General Hospital the gift of love and hope.

The gift-giving activity was held last December 10, 2021 and was graced by the PNP leadership and the PSMBFI Management.
Chief,PNP PGEN Dionardo B Carlos was the Guest of Honor and Speaker, joined by The Deputy Chief PNP for Operations
and PSMBFI Chairman PLTGEN Israel Ephraim T Dickson, Health Service Director PBGen Antonino R Cirujales, DPCR Deputy
Director PBGEN Harris R Fama, and DDA, Health Service PCol Mark Manfred Anthony E Solero. PSMBFI was represented by its
President - Atty. Joel Napoleon M Coronel and Vice President for Operations - PMGEN Celso I Pestaño (Ret.)

During the program, PGEN Carlos expressed appreciation to PSMBFI. “I would like to say thank you to the entire family of
PSMBFI for really taking care of our personnel, especially those who are confined in our General Hospital.”

“Isang malaking pampalakas ng loob at pampasaya sa atin pong mga kapatid, sa ating mga kasama na nandito ngayon sa General
Hospital that they are taken care of by our continuous partner like the PSMBFI. Also, the leadership of the Philippine National Police
is with you and always wants to take care of you.”

“Alam namin na mahirap na nasa loob ng hospital, but again, if you need such services, such help from the organization, ‘yan po
ay handa ang Philippine National Police through our Health Service para kayo ay pangalagaan.”

“Ito pong [gift-giving activity] from our PSMBFI may just be a gesture but still the thought of our partners like the PSMBFI na
talagang they come for you to have a very Merry Christmas. At the end of the day, the gesture is big enough for me and for the PNP
- this blue bundle of joy from PSMBFI.”

This activity was PSMBFI’s way of thanking its members and appreciation for their support. The welfare of public safety practitioners
remains the main concern of the Association.

In the spirit of giving, let us remember that it is the thought that counts and that love is the most important thing in this world. When
love governs our hearts and minds, everything else will follow and we do not need to wait for Christmas to love one another.

Chief,PNP PGEN Dionardo B Carlos

Police General Dionardo B Carlos assumed command
as the 27th Chief of the Philippine National Police last
November 12, 2021. His 4-point immediate action program
for implementation are: to ensure peaceful and orderly 2022
elections; to continue PNP programs on anti-criminality, anti-
illegal drugs, and anti-corruption; to develop and empower
the area police commands; and to continue the policies,
programs, and projects of previous Chiefs of the PNP.

The Public Safety Mutual Benefit Fund, Inc. vows to fully
support the new Chief,PNP and his mandate to serve and protect
our countrymen. Last November 17, 2021, PSMBFI’s Top

in Camp Crame.

Various concerns were discussed that are intended to benefit
PSMBFI members. The Association likewise remains firm on its
commitment to render unparalleled service to its members.

PSMBFI is committed as ever to promote and further strengthen
its solid partnership with the PNP. The Association will stand
firmly with the PNP as it “serves and protects”. It will provide
life insurance and various benefits that are tailored fit for police
personnel and other public safety practitioners.

PSMBFI turns-over P8.8 Million for the PNP Scholarship Program

The Public Safety Mutual Benefit Fund, Inc has gone a long way in building a brighter future for its members and their family.
For the past years, the Association has been supportive to the Scholarship Program of the Philippine National Police by
regularly turning-over the Special Group Term Insurance (SGTI) Experience Refund check.

The SGTI Experience Refund Check for CY2021 amounted to P8,811,740.85. This was symbolically turned-over to
Chief,PNP Police General Debold M Sinas by PSMBFI President, Atty Joel Napoleon M Coronel, at the PNP Conference
Room in Camp Crame last April 27, 2021. This was made in the presence of PNP Key Officers, PSMBFI Board of Trustees,
and Executives.

Embracing the new normal in the way we serve members

PSMBFI continues to build its capabilities to respond to the new normal. All our offices are open to provide essential services.
At a time like this, our employees continue to work efficiently.

But just like other companies, our workforce has their share of struggles with Covid-19. When one employee is exposed to the virus,
the impact can be significant for the whole Department. The rest of his/her colleagues may need to be tested, self-isolate, and work from
home to ensure that the virus is not further spread. Nonetheless, we continue to assure members that we are maintaining the same level
of service.

The pandemic may have changed the way we work. The conduct of onsite information drive and field service operations are in
observance to health protocols and social distancing. We are also meeting members virtually and our social media platforms are active
more than ever.

Safety and cleanliness are the key to make our employees and members feel safe within our offices. All those entering office
premises must strictly wear face mask, face shield, disinfect at the entrance, and have their temperature checked. Social distancing is
observed at all times in each Department and at the Customer Service receiving area. While disinfecting of premises multiple times a
day is part of putting safety measures in place.

We are implementing all standard health and safety protocols recommended by the IATF. All our offices are safe for members to visit
as we embrace the new normal. As we always say.... “welcome to PSMBFI!”

Plan and save for your retirement with the
PSMBFI Endowment at 56

PSMBFI members are encouraged to enroll as policyholders of the Endowment at 56 (E-56). This is both an insurance
and an investment plan that enables members to plan and save for retirement.

The E-56 will be most beneficial when one bows out from the service at age 56 and the cost of living rises. Simply said, the
E-56 is among the important plans of PSMBFI as it helps the member with his expenses having reached retirement and prior to
the receipt of his pension.

Under the E-56, the insurance coverage of the policyholder is equivalent to the sum assured. The sum assured will be
received when the policyholder turns 56 years old, which amount can reach up to P3 million.

The protection of the policyholder is likewise maximized. If the cause of death is by accident, an additional cash benefit will be
given to the beneficiaries. While if total and permanent disability due to sickness or accident is incurred, succeeding premiums
may be waived.

The E-56 comes with a loan privilege whereby the policyholder may borrow 90% of his Cash Surrender Value. The E-56
application forms are available at all PSMBFI offices nationwide.

PSMBFI’s brand of service through its CSR Programs

More successful companies nowadays are helping communities through its Corporate Social Responsibility programs. The
Public Safety Mutual Benefit Fund, Inc. is able to enact positive changes in society by advocating the concept of CSR.

Not only does PSMBFI take into heart its role of looking after the welfare of members, but able to do business responsibly with the
objective of helping our members and partner agencies.

PSMBFI is able to give back to the community through its “do good efforts” like turning over equipment, computers, and ambulances to
partner agencies. It extends support to the PNP Scholarship Program as a continuing commitment to help deserving police dependents.
The Association extends financial assistance to members in times of need, and helps the programs and activities of partner agencies.
Gift-giving activities are also ways of showing gratitude to members. With more than two decades as a mutual benefit association,
PSMBFI supports the services rendered by its partner agencies to the public.

The Association has a responsibility beyond just providing life insurance. In essence - if PSMBFI succeeds in empowering members
and partner agencies, then they will be more capable to deliver public service.

PSMBFI insurance and living benefits for
PNP NUPs and Civilian Employees

Civilian government employees are tirelessly rendering public service. The PNP Non-
Uniformed Personnel (NUP), for instance, play a vital role in the accomplishment of police
work. They are responsible for the administrative work of the PNP.

The NUPs and civilian employees are considered “everyday heroes”. On the other hand, the
Public Safety Mutual Benefit Fund, Inc. recognizes their importance and the responsibilities they
have. Thus, PSMBFI encourages them to enroll with the Members Equity Plan called “My Life Plus”
to ensure that they have maximum insurance protection. They have an array of benefits and privileges
for an amount of monthly premium they can afford.

As PSMBFI members, they have life insurance, savings (Equity Value), Accident Hospitalization
Benefit, free insurance for one (1) dependent, and may avail of loan products at reasonable interest rates. They may also avail
of the additional insurance called the Member’s Memorial Plan at a minimal monthly premium.

In this day and age, getting life insurance is important to help ensure the future of our loved ones. This way, they will not be
facing financial hardships in case the member passes away unexpectedly. Those interested to become a PSMBFI member may
visit or call any of our offices. We will be glad to assist you.

We aim to be a COVID-
protected PSMBFI!

We, at PSMBFI, are doing our best to prevent Covid-19.
Our employees are heeding to the call of the government to be
vaccinated to achieve the targeted herd immunity.

PSMBFI is “adopting and implementing the appropriate
vaccination policy in the workplace as part of our occupational
safety and health program, consistent with the guidelines issued
by the Department of Health and Inter-Agency Task Force.”

This pandemic demands new standards of cleanliness
and sanitizing measures in our workplace. Our offices must
be clean and disinfected for the safety of our employees and
visiting members.

What are the benefits of getting the Covid-19 vaccine?

PREVENTION FORM GETTING VERY ILL

• Based on what we know about the vaccines for other disease and early data from clinical trials, experts believe that getting a
COVID-19 vaccine may also help keep you from getting seriously ill even if you do get COVID-19.

PROTECT OTHERS

• Getting vaccinated yourself may also protect people around you, particularly people
at increased risk for severe illness from COVID-19.

PREPARE FOR THE UNKNOWN

• COVID-19 can have serious, life-threatening complications, and
there is no way to know how COVID-19 will affect you. If you get
sick, you could spread the disease to friends, family, and others
around you.

BOOST YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM

• Wearing masks, social distancing, and washing your hands helps
reduce the chance of being exposed to the virus or spreading it to
others, but these measures are not enough. Vaccines will work with your
immune system so it will be ready to fight the virus if you are exposed.

STOP THE SPREAD

• Stopping a pandemic requires using all the tools we have available.

Information above received from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
