FOOTWEAR SCREENING
PACKAGES

Analytical testing, to determine if the use of banned or
restricted substances have been used in the
manufacturing process.

What is a screening package?

Screening packages are a variety of laboratory tests that are used to identify the exact materials
used in a variety of products. As part of our footwear screening process, BVCPS screens each
element of a footwear sample to test for substances that are banned or restricted at the country
of sale.
The information derived from these tests can also be used to aid in the manufacturing process of
future products. By ensuring products are manufactured without the use of hazadous or
restricted materials, dramatically reduces the risk of products being recalled.

Why is screening important to retailers?

Over the years there has been a rise in Government bodies testing products at random for the
use of banned or restricted substances. More often than not, the retailers selling the products
have followed all of the necessary guidelines and the banned substances have been introduced
without their knowledge.
The screening packages not only protect the end user, they protect the retailer against
purchasing and retailing products that are not deemed fit for their consumer.
In 2017 alone there has been a large number of cases publicised in the news and on social sites
where retailers have had to recall products. The negative impact on a retailer or brand caused by
recalls can be devastating.
