The comic represents the basic nature of elements in a funny style, Helium
(He) is the second lightest gas whereas Mercury (Hg) is known for it’s high
density, hence making it heavy.

Magical drops!
Raindrops, Raindrops, falling from the
clouds,
Big ones, small ones, thick ones, thin
ones,
Sliping from the leaves,
Moving to the streets,
Passing by the river,
Meeting with the sea,
Falling into oyster,
Turning into pearl,
Turning the weather, to shimmer and
sunshine,
Oh ! passing by the bow,
A rainbow,
Raindrops, Raindrops, what a magic
stick?

Made the peacock dance,
And the frogs croaks
Changed the nature live,
Oh ! What do I See,
Its my necklace place,
Filled with joy and beauty,
Blooming flowers on the tree,
Attracting butterflies.
Raindrops, Raindrops, what a magic
drop! whenever you come,
You bring happiness all around .

The underworld adventure
{during year 2050}
It was a heavy rainfall that
day and a raindrop named “
Grekker” Asked his small
brother , named “Zander” ,
“our life is so short !
hhonly some secs. And we
will dye !” while he was
going to drop a bird that
happened to pass by And
they both fell on its back ! It

was A canary! They were
sorry for their other friends
! It was early morning , I
was dreaming of my ALL
NEW JET PACKS which my
father gave me yesterday. I
woke and without getting
ready , wore it and flew
through the early morning
rainy breeze !I then saw the
canary and started to follow
it ! The bird then sat on a

huge tree , nearby was a
grass field.
I was just about to touch the
canary when my jetpack
battery died ! I was about to
fall down , when I got a hold
of a branch of that tree ! the
branch did not last long
enough and broke into 2 ! I
then fell down on the ground
and “ Ouch ! “ I hurt myself
! I continued walking and

then I stepped on something
which seemed to like to
move ! i first thought it was
a trap from my “So Called
Forgotten Friend !” but
then it shaked and I fell in !
it was hollow and dark and
then i saw an orange-red
typa liquid like magma or
lava ! Suddenly I realised
beneath me is an active
volcano ! So I was like “SO

NOT HAPPY ! ``I fell in the
liquid and realised after all ,
it wasn't the lava ! I was

saw a whole new world with
thousands and hundreds of
different species which
didn't exist in the above

dinosaurs and dragons ! and
some creepy different things
I didn't know !

I looked forward to getting
outta this thing , but
suddenly I saw a creepy ,
huge , temple ‘sorta
structure with slogans
written on it . {i think} . and
the best thing was that there
was a big bar which looked
graceful ! It was like a
hundred feet taller than me !
I then tried to move it but it
didn't move ! I thought of

taking help from those
creatures . Somehow at least
! I went to look for some
dinos and found one
Carcharodontosaurus ! I
tried to attract it to me , but
what i saw was that it
roared to its max , and ran
behind me ! I ran towards
the miraculous bar and
turned right . It banged its
head on the bar and the bar

moved round and forth and
suddenly the volcano’s part
broke apart and opened the
way for mr to get out of this
place ! I was very happy
and made my way out !

A DECADE OLD MEMORY LANE
Cdt. Gauri Kalaskar, SYBSc
D/o Rajendra S Kalaskar, ARDE
Childhood memories are bitter-sweet doses full of happiness
mixed with a pinch of nostalgia.
Gone are the carefree days, when we were just pure and innocent
souls clutching to our mother’s fingers, unaware of the nastiness
out in this competitive world. We all wry at the labored ease of loss
of our childhood days which are imprinted in our minds.
We have grown up looking outside the window and waiting to jump
off our seats with the ding of the school bell.
Now we can't stick our head outside the boundaries of our mobile
screen, depriving modern era's kids of their childhood's essence
and building blocks.
In summers, neither the scorching sun nor the thirst would keep
us from reaching our delicious treat of mangoes. Just the taste of
ध्रुव तारे AN E-MAGAZINE OF DRDO KIDS PUBLISHED ON 14.11.2020 66
an unripe tangy mango or a sweet and mellow mango was worth
the labour and sweat expended.
I still can’t decide which season I like over the other. Is it summer
or monsoon? Every rainy season declared its arrival by croaking
of frogs, followed by our creative paper boats floating in the mud
pot-holes. Wearing those fancy gumboots and stamping in the
water puddles was fun and so was dancing in the rain.
Shivering and sneezing, drenched in mud, we always tried to get
away silently without being caught as we walked towards our
rooms to clean up. But our hunger gave us away as we fell with a
thud while struggling to get hold of the out-of-reach box of laddoos.
Having been scolded and rubbed dry with a towel from head to
toe, we slept peacefully in our mother’s lap.

THE BLOOD RED HACKLE
Cdt. Gauri Kalaskar, SYBSc
D/o Rajendra S Kalaskar, ARDE
When the moon turns red and the sky goes black, we are gonna
rise up like an army and take this world by storm.
NCC stands for National Cadets Corps. It is what I breathe in and
out.
It has imbibed in us the true sense of being down to earth, rolling.
Licking the dust, crashing in shiny mud puddles are our sweets.
Humanity is at par as you would not mind playing that role of a
Homo Sapien after considerable amounts of frog jumps, camel
walk and tiger walks. Greater compassion and understanding
evokes for those who cannot speak or themselves.
I have never regretted being a woman. But I am not just my gender
in bones. I have been made to remember being a person with flesh
and brain. Skin too charred, burnt in the fire that makes my eyes
gleam with hunger for more of me. Not a glass doll, unnecessarily
pretty body hollowed out on the inside. Scars, sweat and blood
ornate me. There be roses and thorns but our blood red hackle is
for a breed apart.

Smelters of iron who have themselves forged in fire, Sir they are
called coz we salute in respect. They are not easy upon us, our
seniors. And neither am I upon myself. I have been churned down
to what I am only because I managed to keep my feet on ground
in literal sense. I stayed.
In the era of teenagers going frenzy over the latest fashion trends
why did I choose to stick soil, twigs and maggots to my attire is
quite difficult to explain. You have never showered the parched
land of your throat having miles and miles of veins extended out
for being touched by a single droplet of water. It’s sacred. You
have not come as far as smelling the salt filled Gulab Jamuns that
we gulped down and right out after. People pay for rollercoaster
rides but we get front rolls and cream rolls served to us free of cost.
If that is not enough of ups and downs, our lives are never short of
them. And we have each other’s back every single time. There is
no bond like the one made from paved paths by duck walks. Our
well acclaimed motto is rightly unity and discipline.
You must've seen the smartly dressed cadets marching at the
Rajpath with pitch perfect synchronization of footsteps.
But its not all about just drills. We growing boys and girls have a
lot of appetite for adventure. The Himalayan Base camp, scuba
diving camp and yachting camps make our blood boil with
adrenaline. The want to taste the waters of pure sprinkles and
brooks in up in the snowy mountains and the scent of salty waves
thrown at us by the roaring seas is hard to wear off.

Foreign cultural exchange programmes allow us to be at different
places on the globe aided by the government without burdening
our parents with the cost of our desires.
NCC sharpens our observational skills, dedication and persistence
in the face of monotony. It rubs off our hard edges n carves out
personality. Not only for the armed forces, it builds a base of
professionalism for any field of choice.
It imbibes leadership qualities, cultivates etiquettes, disciplinary
culture and a ritual of importance of time.
World's largest uniformed voluntary organization's impact is such
that its further expansion has been announced by the PM in the
coastal and border districts of the country with a road full of
opportunities ahead.
So push your limits and join us.
Once a cadet, always a cadet.
