William“BILL”Gordon ~HIS STORY~
March 29, 1985 ~ July 10, 2021
William “Bill” Gordon was born March 29, 1985 in Chicago, Illinois to William
F. Gordon and Kim Gordon-Young. He was the middle child of our children,
and only son. They were three peas in a pod, Tanya Jeana, Nicole Joi and
Bill was the cream in the middle. Bill attended Lincoln Elementary School
and Thornridge High School in Dolton. Bill later moved to New Jersey and
graduated from River Dell High. After high school, Bill attended two years of
college, but later decided to follow that “Gordon” work acumen and landed
a job at Hackensack Hospital, where he worked as an X-ray file tech. After
he left Hackensack Hospital, he worked for Buldo Recycling Company.
Bill was outgoing, full of life, and had a great sense of humor. Bill’s pres-
ence was huge, and he lit up any room he was in with his infectious smile.
He wowed the hearts of everyone he met. Bill met Rachel DeFranko, the
mother of his beloved son, Kye, at Hackensack Hospital. Kye was born on
September 28, 2010. Bill and his son, Kye were inseparable.
On February 15, 2014, God allowed Bill to meet his guardian angel, who
would later become another reason for that beautiful smile. Iola (Candace)
Harris, whom he called Candace, My Love. If you saw Bill, you saw Can-
dace, the love and bond that they shared was beautiful to watch unfold.
The connection for them was immediate because he said she reminded
him of is grandmother, Betty Jo. The Lord knew Bill needed someone to
care and love him like a mother and granny would, and Candace did that.
She stayed by his side and loved him until the last day.
Bill was known for his love of fishing, and oddly enough, snakes. He taught
himself everything he knew about snakes and how to breed them. Over the
years his collection grew to about thirty. Bill loved his family and he loved
the Lord! Two things Bill enjoyed doing was fishing and spending time with
his dad. He departed this life doing both.
Bill leaves to cherish his precious memory, the apple of his eye, his son,
Kye, his mother, Kim Young, affectionately called Mom Mom (Daniel), his fa-
ther, William F. Gordon (Karyn), his dear sisters Tanya (Ramon) and Nicole
(Lamar), his grandparents (John and Mary Gordon), his handsome neph-
ews Marcus and Ayden, his niece, Jordyn, his great niece, Jada (whom
he affectionately called Brown Girl) his fishing buddies, his uncles, Sam
(Linda), Michael (Cheryl), Donald (Julie), Bernard (Vicki), David (Barbara),
Anthony (Sandra), Matthew (Nita), his proud uncles Tony (Antonia), and
Vernon (Theresa), his aunts, Joanne (Larry), and Joy, his close knit cous-
ins, LaRon (Jamie), LaWanda (Myles), LaShon (Reggie), Michael Aaron,
Jon Andre, Brandon, Mimi, Corei (Brittany), Jason (Kyla), BJ, Jennifer, Mar-
cia, Nikki, Chris, Michael Wright, Mykel Wright, Sidni, Christopher Jones,
Nakiia Henry, Janae Henry, Elesia Smith and a host of other relatives and
dear friends.
But I know that you will welcome me into your house, for I am
covered by your covenant of mercy and love. So I come to your
sanctuary with deepest awe to bow in worship and adore you.

Thornton Wilder said, “the greatest tribute to the dead is not grief, but gratitude.”
Even though my heart is heavy from the enormous void you left, it is full of
gratefulness. Grateful that God, in his infinite wisdom, carefully chose me to
birth you into this world to transform the lives of countless people.
Our Journey
After you were born, I knew our bond would be special by the way you looked
at me during feeding time. You were the one that took a little longer to lose the
apron strings, but when you did, you flourished. Your love for animals and
nature came as you grew into a young boy becoming your dads fishing
buddy. Everything you learned about the outdoors came from your dad. Like
Father-Like Son. Even though you were younger than your sister Tanya, you
became her protector and wanted to know the purpose of every guy who
looked her way. That bond and protection never waned.
When your little sister, Nicole was born, she was most like you, free-spirited
and mile mannered. There were 12 years that separated you in age, but she
taught you about many things creative that increased your knowledge on how
to look at, and capture nature.
As you grew older, your entrepreneurial nature became more pronounced. I
know this because one day I came home from work to a party that you and
Curtis orchestrated in my basement, and you charged your friends to attend. I
never knew what you did with the proceeds – I am afraid to ask Curtis.
At sixteen, we made the decision to send you to New Jersey to live with your
father, a decision you never let me forget. Son, I know you didn’t agree with
that decision, but think of all the people that would not have been able to expe-
rience the “bigness” of you: Josh, BJ, Sara, The Mendez’, Henry, Stan, Matt,
VDay, Billy Bikes, Sandy, Mike Buldo, Hector Drone, and many, many others.
It was not until February 15, 2014, when you met the love of your life, Candace.
that you put a pause about that decision. She became special to us both,
my bonus daughter. Nevertheless, I expect if we polled people, they would all
agree, our lives are fuller because you were in it.
No one — absolutely no one — comes close to how important you are to me my son, son. I cannot imagine
loving anyone more. Your sisters could not understand our bond, until they had sons of their own. You did not
hesitate to support me. When I tried my hand on IG doing “Talk About
It Tuesdays,” you would call to rehearse with me what I was going to
say. When I started my doctoral program, you understood the rigors,
and if you had concerns, you did not express them. You simply want-
ed me to be happy. There have been many moments that you wit-
nessed my faults and limitations, it did not matter what side of myself
I showed you son, son, you still loved and accepted me. You always
forgave me.
Now that we have come to the end of the road, we all must let
go of the presence of you, but never the essence of you.
Nothing could have prepared my heart for that devastating
call on July 10th from your father. As the news began to
spread of your untimely departure, a hush came over the
earth. I know all God asks of me, of any of us, is to be
who we really are, authentic, and you did that well. And
I realize it takes an immense act of humility to give back
what God has given to me, my sweet son, son. Be good,
be careful, behave.
Love you – Mom Mom

C ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS C
God calls each and every one of us to manifest His Presence on the
earth. He asks us to believe in Him for our Salvation and He asks us if
He can come live inside of us. I sought God and gave Him all of me.
Thank you for reaching out to my family, especially my Mother, my
Father, my sisters, my niece, nephews and cousins. We are all a part of
God’s family. May we never forget it. May we forever serve the Lord in
everything we do. God Bless You! I will miss you but don’t worry about
me. I have gone home to be with the Lord.
C REPAST C
Immediately following the service in the Allen Annex
Remember, our Message is not about ourselves;
we’re proclaiming Jesus Christ, the Master. All we
are is messengers, errand runners from Jesus
for you. It started when God said, “Light up the
darkness!” and our lives filled up with light as we
saw and understood God in the face of Christ, all
bright and beautiful.
2 Corinthians 4:5-6 (The Message)
[Most] blessed is the man who believes in, trusts in, and relies on
the Lord, and whose hope and confidence the Lord is. For he shall
be like a tree planted by the waters that spreads out its roots by
the river; and it shall not see and fear when heat comes; but its leaf
shall be green. It shall not be anxious and full of care in the year of
drought, nor shall it cease yielding fruit. Jeremiah 17:7-8
