Directions: Your Group will create an Employee Handbook for your business. The handbook should include an
Introduction, at least three General Policies, at least three Compensations and Benefits Policies, and an
Employee Acknowledgement Form. This is a Long-Term project and it is important each group remains up to
date.
TASK 1: Use the Internet to research the formats and topics included in an employee handbook
and to research the formats and elements included in various job descriptions.
TASK 2: Create a company and decide what product(s) the company will produce.
TASK 3: Prepare an employee handbook with the following sections:
1. Title page – include the company name, creation date, and an appropriate graphic
(logo).
2. Introduction to the company – A welcome letter to your employee. Include the
company name, product(s), the date the company was incorporated, the philosophy of
the company, staff members, etc.
3. Hours of Operation – What time are you open for business. List any Holidays that you
will not be open. (Create A Table for the Hours of Operation)
4. Rules and Standards – Develop company Rules and Standards. Create a set of 10
company rules and standards. They must relate to the company and product. Rules
must be in bullet form.
5. Job Opportunities – List 3 Jobs within your company and give a Job Description for each
(Description should be 4-5 sentences.)
6. Employee Benefits – Develop employee benefits for your company based on research
found on the Internet.
a. Three General Benefits Policies (ex. Dental Insurance)
b. Three Wage and Compensation Policies (How Much do three different
employees get paid, How often do the employees get paid)
7. Employee Acknowledgment Form – A Form included in your handbook that the
employee will sign stating that they have read all of the required information in the
book.
