Introduction
“Digital economy” is an economy that is based on information and communication
technologies (ICTs) which affects all the sectors of economic and social activities including
education. In the digital economy, universities play a significant role in shaping economies
and societies. Universities generate and disseminate knowledge, develop human capital
through teaching and learning activities, drive technological progress and economic growth
through research and innovation. In the 13thAUNILO Meeting, we will discuss about
university library’ activities that support ASEAN’s digital economy strategy including digital
literacy, open educational resources (OER), and massive open online courses (MOOCs) along
with the copyright issues.
Thus, AUNILO Training the Trainers Workshop for this year is about “Creating a MOOC for
Library Instruction using edX Platform”. The purpose of this workshop is to enhance the
efficacy of ASEAN university libraries and increase our library roles in the digital economy
era.
Objectives
Through this training program, AUNILO hopes to bring the competency of participating
librarians, information specialists, IT and Audiovisual personnel to a higher level in the area
of massive open online course (MOOC) development.

Venue and Facilities
Meeting Room 323 (up to 60 seats) at Mahidol Learning Center (MLC) Building Floor 3,
Mahidol University at Salaya campus, Nakhon Pathom, Thailand. Participants are required to
bring their own laptops.

Learning Objectives
By the end of the training-workshops, the participants are expected to be able to:
1. Demonstrate knowledge about MOOCs
2. Demonstrate knowledge about ADDIE instructional design model
3. Demonstrate knowledge about digital contents, open educational resources (OER),
copyright issues, video and audio production
Evaluation Method
Pre-test before the class and post-test after the class
The questions will be multiple choice, true/false and short answer approximately
15-20 test items based on the learning objectives above
(We can use muxdev.mahidol.ac.th to do the online pre- and post- tests)
Outputs
The expected outputs of this training-workshop are the trained library personnel in using
and creating MOOCs for academic libraries. Report of this training the trainers program will
be submitted to AUNILO Secretariat and reported in AUNILO Meeting.
Participation and Registration
The workshop is aimed at librarians, information specialists, IT or audio-visual personnel.
Each AUNILO member institutions may send two participants for this workshop. No charging
for AUNILO participants except for the 3rd or more participants. The training is also opened
to other non AUNILO members. The registration fee is US$ 57 (2,000 Baht) per head. All
participants are required to arrange for their own travel, dinner, and accommodation cost.

Interested participants are required to send their nominations and register for the training
before or by 15th July 2017.
Accommodation
We recommend The Sukosol Hotel (previously Siam City Hotel) as it is near Airport Rail Link
and located only a 3-minute walk from Phayathai BTS Skytrain station. Another one is Asia
Hotel Bangkok located in front of Rachathewi Skytrain station. Transportation will be
provided from Suvarnabhumi Airport to the hotels and from the hotels to Mahidol
University at Salaya Campus.
