Southern Lights Band is an exciting four-piece outfit from the Cape Winelands in South Africa, making music since 2003. It was only in 2015 that the band name, Southern Lights, was adopted by these four friends. With an acoustic pop-rock, folk and African sound, combined with Triveno’s distinctive vocals and falsetto, it’s hard to place the band into a specific genre. Members are; Triveno Smith taking lead on vocals and acoustic guitar, tearing it up on electric is Werner Carstens, our lady grooving on the bass, Alecia Smith, and keeping ‘four on the floor’, Gavin Young. In 2016, the band along with award winning producer Helmut Meijer, released their debut single, ‘Looking for Love’ on iTunes and other major online music stores. In August 2016 they made their television debut on SABC 2’s Hectic Nine9 when they had the opportunity to play ‘Looking for Love’ during a Live broadcast. Their has since also been play-listed by numerous national and local radio stations.
