The Society for Modern Greek Studies (UK) promotes teaching and research in Modern Greek Studies throughout the United Kingdom. It organises regular events, disseminates information, and collaborates with other related institutions and organisations. The Society also acts as the UK national body representing our subject and is affiliated to the European Society of Modern Greek Studies.

Its annual Colloquium has been held at different institutions across the United Kingdom since 1988. Its aim is to provide a scholarly forum for postgraduate students in the UK, and, if possible, further afield, to contribute to scholarly discussions on Modern Greek Studies. In recent years, this Colloquium has been a student-organised event.
