From the first, it was the Trivium and the Seven Arts which offered a comprehensive, well-rounded approach to personal and intellectual development, emphasizing critical thinking, virtue and lifelong learning, but also knowledge from other areas of psychical phenomena . This differs from the more standardized and compartmentalized approach of today's secular public education and training systems.
