Melaka Classics is a classical music project in Melaka, Malaysia.
It all started in 2017, when violinist Orest Smovzh (now Artistic Director) came to perform in Melaka for the first time. His visit, skillfully organized by Cassel Krishnan (now Director), showed opportunities that could be explored in the town. Melaka truly has everything - history, cultures, architecture, a year-long influx of people from all around the world. It was missing one last thing - an active classical music scene, to complete the cultural experience. And that is why we are here. To make Melaka artistically more accessible.
We explore the city's history by playing in iconic spaces,
we expand limits by bringing the unexpected,
we establish Melaka on the classical music map,
we educate with finest performances and masterclasses,
we enrich the artistic experience of all
