MG's high-definition reboot over the last few years has proved it can do a lot more than just make affordable cars. It's also shown a lot of nous with its electrification efforts and the HS+EV mid-sized SUV is no exception.

It aims to rival the likes of the Toyota Kluger, facelifted Hyundai Santa Fe and Kia Sorento with the help of a new plug-in hybrid powertrain that pairs the existing 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol engine with a front electric motor.

Unlike the combustion-only models, the Excite and Azami LE +EV grades get the full suite of active safety features, including front and rear autonomous emergency braking, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, cross-traffic alert, traffic sign recognition and driver attention alert. Front parking sensors and a 360-degree camera are also standard across the range. The HS+EV also gets an extra seven-year warranty, as well as a battery replacement guarantee.
