About
The House of Re-Discovery Charity N0. 1065(HRD) was established for indigenous research in Climate smart agriculture , herbal medicine and is the philanthropic arm of the Global Day of the Drum Initiative (GDOD) established in 2014 in Barbados. The GDOD initiative is the brainchild of Ian Douglas, the inaugural event took place in twenty locations around the world (the Caribbean, Africa; the Americas and Europe) in an amazing journey and an international successful launch. Global Day of the Drum is a metaphor; for "playing one’s own drum" and serves as a conduit for intercultural expression and social cohesion through the drum as a culturally specific medium. GDOD initiative is an (18 minute) global synchronization of drums ritual, at 6:00 pm in the local country time on July 5th. GDOD utilizes the drum as a cultural contact point for coexistence where July 5th is symbolically and traditionally the geographical meridian day, (the 186 day, the middle of the year).
