What you have in your hands is the result of over a year of play testing and research. These are the 360 quotes from the new card game, King of Quotes.
Quick backstory. Own personal research into history shocked us when we discovered that many of the most famous people in the world had said things that captured entire generations, moved millions of people into action, or distilled the very nature of the human experience. Many famous people also said things that shocked us, and were contrary to what we’d learned about them at school.
Through this research we also realized that two fundamental drivers throughout human history, were the struggle for freedom, coupled with the quest for power. These two strong forces lay within each and every one of us.
What happens when you begin to tune into your own inner drivers? Can you feel that longing for complete freedom? Can you feel that desire for power - whether it be personal empowerment, or the thrill that comes from playing to win and gain power?
If you can tune into those desires, then you will be able feel into something of what drove this collection of 30 famous characters to pursue in their lives. We’ve found 30 of the most impactful people, each of whom had at least a dozen remarkable quotes each (yes, some had even more, it was a tough choice!). Many famous people in the world said some remarkable things, but for in this first edition of the King of Quotes game, we needed a dozen quotes from each character that clearly tapped into that yearning for freedom, or that desire for power.
This accompanying book that you’ve got here shows who actually said each quote. But the fun part of playing the game is, you see a single quote on a card without the name, and then you a minute to guess who said it! You form two teams, one on the side of freedom, the other with power. Your team mates can help you guess, while the opposing team can challenge and try to beat your guess.
With twelve quotes from each person, we were inspired by a vision of a game that would take what you imagined to be the basis of history and politics, and turn them on their head. Because that’s what reading these quotes did to us! We wanted to create a super fun experience, that would at the same time blow your mind and leave you looking at the world with fresh eyes… all within 30 to 60 minutes!
