(S2), Pound (S3), Sun (S4), Lara (S5) and Peter (S6, and
also this year’s Head Boy).

KKVS GIVING GANG

จติ สาธารณะ ชว่ ยเหลอื สงั คม

During last December our school has an activity called
‘KKVS Giving Gang’. The purpose of this group is we
want to encourage students to have a public mind and
thoughtful. We asked for volunteer students who want
to join the group to provide a present for children in
Chum Chon Pra Yuen School and Child Help Foundation
in Khon Kaen.
For This year we have many students participate in
this activity. We had over a hundred boxes to give. On
Monday 21 December 2020, after school assembly we
went to Chum Chon Pra Yuen School. They have a little
show for us. Then we went to Child Help Foundation
named Baan Look Rak, the orphan school. A single of kid
got their individual present also we got heap of donation
from every part of school and parents to donate some
stationary, money and other thing for their living.
We would like to thank to all students who participated
also a big thank you to parents who always give us the
best support. THANK YOU!

To celebrate the culture and traditions of the Chinese
people Ajarn Peter’s English classes joined in with some
fun activities on Friday 12 th February. Small groups of
students eagerly competed to be the first to cooperatively
complete their tasks.
The first challenge was to read a text with a large number
of words missing. They had to choose the best option
from a list of words to complete the text about Chinese
New Year celebrations and traditions.
In the second activity students learned about the Chinese
zodiac symbols. Each group had a set of animal symbols
and a set of characteristics and their task was to match an
animal with its characteristics, with the help of a cryptic clue.
The students were all very involved in their lesson and
enjoyed learning about the most important event in the
Chinese calendar, as you can see in the photos!

After we got sticky rice, students learned how to make
Bamboo Rice called Khao Lam. The teacher allowed
students to create their own style of Bamboo Rice. So we
had Bamboo Rice with beans, Banana, Salmon, Chicken,
Chocolate and Marshmallow.
To enhance the learning experience, students also made
their own style of Coconut Rice; cooked from their own
sticky rice.

The children in Pre K had a fun time celebrating the Lunar New Year at KKVS. All the children looked very
beautiful dressed in their red and traditional styled costumes. In the auditorium the children were able
to learn about the many different ways people celebrate the Lunar New Year, for example the different
foods and drinks they eat. At the end of the celebration, the children were kindly gifted some chocolate
coins from Ajarn Ratanporn which they enjoyed eating at morning snack.

PRE K : LUNAR NEW YEAR

K1: POPCORN

For the topic of corn the children in K1 took part in making delicious hot popcorn.
We talked about the ingredients and equipment we needed to make the popcorn and also talked about
how we would keep ourselves safe while cooking around a hot pot.
The children were very intrigued by the process and enjoyed looking into the pot as the popcorn popped.
After all the popcorn kernels had popped we took it to the canteen and enjoyed it for morning snack. A
delicious treat for the children!

K2/1: SHADOWS

For the topic of shadows the children in K2/1 went outside to search for
the perfect place to make their very own shadows. Before going outside
the children knew they had to find an area that was full of sunlight. Out
in the playground the children enjoyed moving their bodies in various
positions to change and transform the shape of their shadow. While
outside, the children also noticed that many different shadows are made
in nature, observing the shadows made by trees or buildings.

K2/2: XYLOPHONE

K2/2 had a wonderful time with Kru CC learning how to play the
xylophone. Kru CC taught the children about the different keys on
the xylophone and they practiced playing all together. The children
all concentrated and listened to Kru CC very well. The children are
looking forward to their next visit to Music and Movement.

K3: DRAGON

K3 had a wonderful time celebrating the Lunar New Year.
After celebrating in the morning, in the school auditorium,
the children came back to the classroom to make their
very own Chinese Dragon. This was a 4 step process. First
the children had to colour in their dragon, cut it out and fold the
dragon’s body out of a piece of paper. Lastly they connected it all
together and added wooden sticks. The children were very proud of
their dragons. They were all very colorful and beautiful.
