BACKGROUND OF UNIVERSITI UTARA MALAYSIA

Universiti Utara Malaysia was established on 16th February 1984. It aspires to primarily develop and
promote management education in the country. Its academic programmes are especially geared towards
providing a broad spectrum of academic knowledge and intellectual skills in the management-related
areas. Essentially, it is devoted to excellence in scholarship, research, publication, and service to society by
producing graduates who have the ability and high degree leadership qualities in planning and managing

Universiti Utara Malaysia also acts as a catalyst for socio-economic and intellectual development in the
northern region of Peninsular Malaysia. It plays a crucial role in engaging the surrounding local communities
through community-based projects—developing and strengthening community-university partnerships
through collaboration with other government agencies as well as private sectors. It is envisaged that
the University’s robust ecosystem, basic infrastructure, state-of-the art facilities, and international pool of
human resources will provide the much needed impetus to develop and sustain socio-economic activities
in the region. The synergy of the denizens remains strong as we uphold the values embedded in the
University’s motto: Knowledge, Virtue, Service.

Is an intensive year-long progrramme
designed to prepare potential students for a
degree in the field of study of their choice at
UUM. The holistic design of the syllabus not
only imparts the skills and experiences needed
for success at university but also success at
university but it also focuses on polishing
the soft skills required for students to excel
beyond the classroom physical setting.
The successful completion of the year-long
foundation programme in accordance to the
required standard, would lead students to
secure a place in a variety of UUM Bachelor
Degree Programmes. The English Language
and study skills complement the subject
specific modules to better equip the students
for university level education.

GO- KART INTERNATIONAL natural
CIRCUIT
The 1.2 km circuit recognised
by the International Automobile
Federation (FIA) provides 36
go-kart cars, 13 paddocks,
viewer's grandstand, control
tower, and related services.

UUM SPORT CENTRE
Sports Centre is responsible to
manage, organise, plan, regulate
sports and recreational programme
for students and staff. It is equipped
with a modern complex and facilities
covering an area of 74 acres offering
almost 28 types of sports and leisure
activities.

Sports Centre also focuses on high
performance sports to participate
in programme organised by the
Malaysian University Sports Council

ACADEMY
The academy was set up in
September 2010 as a Centre

both national and international
levels.
