Personal Artworks
JEWELRY
When I’m not teaching, my main mode of creative expression is making jewelry for my small
business, Sweet Stella Designs. Since 2006, I have hand‐sculpted miniature polymer clay foods to
incorporate in to unique jewelry pieces. I sell my work at shops & boutiques in Columbus and
beyond and at local art fairs and craft markets.
Sweet Stella Designs is the 2012 winner of the “Best Brand Without A Storefront” award in the
Columbus Alive’s Best of Columbus reader’s poll.
My jewelry has been featured locally and nationally in several publications, including the
Columbus Dispatch, Alive, (614)Magazine, 200Columbus, The Crafts Report, and BuzzFeed.

PAINTINGS
For several years, I have been exploring magnifications of sugar crystal and abstracting them
using a spectrum of rainbow hues in watercolor. The “Crystallized” works play with geometric
forms and bold colors and are meticulously created from many layers of translucent paint,
emphasizing color relationships and patterns.
MIXED MEDIA
My artworks from the series “Bitter/Sweet” and “Snacktacular” address issues of food, memory,
and home with pieces created using simple materials commonly associated with craftwork, such
as polymer clay and wood. Layered with frosting, fruit slices, sprinkles, and other decorative
features, the foods become the focal point in each of their environments.
In many of my pieces, the scale change of the foods makes them adorable and covetable. Most
people would not consider ordinary chocolates and cakes as art objects; however, when reduced
in size and placed in their tiny environment, or when created using unusual materials, the
meanings of the objects change. They become precious collectables that inspire memories and
feelings of comfort and familiarity.
