Job Description
Position Title: Conductor-PI Teacher
Reports To: Program Director, Conductive Learning Center
Job Summary:
The conductor-PI teacher is responsible for planning and carrying out instruction in a
conductive education program, stressing the achievement of maximum independence,
knowledge and skills for children having motor challenges. The conductor-PI teacher
joins a dynamic team responsible for the advancement of the Conductive Learning
Center’s strategic goals; team is comprised of program staff, administrative staff,
volunteer Board leadership, and Aquinas College representatives.
Essential Functions:
Participate in planning curriculum, lessons and teaching methods.
Monitor student general health.
Promote self-care and daily living skills for maximum independence.
Instruct students in special and general education, using the holistic method of
conductive education.
Help form and set up groups of children, according to the principles of conductive
education.
Supervise students inside the center, as well as related areas of the center.
Maintain contact with parents and/or students via verbal or written communication.
Provide information to parents on how to apply/adapt children’s new achievements
into their home life.
Evaluate student progress based on student outcomes.
Complete assessment, progress and other necessary documentation and reports.
Communicate and collaborate with others in the helping professionals; e.g. therapists,
educators, rehabilitation specialists and medical personnel.
Maintain a clean, safe and organized environment within classrooms.
Work collaboratively to facilitate POHI student learning in the laboratory school
Interact with parents, students, Conductive Learning Center staff, board members,
Aquinas College administration in a positive, supportive and cooperative manner.
Participate in professional development activities as part of continuing education.
Other duties and responsibilities as determined.
Supervisory Responsibilities/Relationships:
The conductor-PI teacher will be part of the center’s instructional team designed to
deliver an educational program using the methodology of conductive education,
following State of Michigan physically impaired program guidelines. Direct supervision
will be provided by the Program Director.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree, with elementary certification
Special education endorsement for the physically impaired
Completion of approved curriculum in conductive education provided by the András
Pető College
Ability to work in a diverse environment

Ability to function as an effective team member
Life skills to include: perseverance, determination, resourcefulness, sense of humor,
optimism, compassion and patience
Additional Functions:
Conductor-teachers actively participate and share ideas in collaborative full-team
organizational planning and strategy meetings. They serve as members of Conductive
Learning Center committees, sub-committees, or task forces to develop and execute the
strategic vision of the Conductive Learning Center. Additionally, Conductor-teachers are
ambassadors and advocates for CLC and Conductive Education by participating in
Conductive Learning Center’s community outreach, marketing, and donor development
activities.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands:
A conductor-PI teacher will have a maximum of thirty student contact hours per week as
assigned by the Program Director or Executive Director. Due to changing class
groupings from one session to another, some flexibility in this assignment may be
necessary. Ten hours per week will be utilized for documentation, planning, preparation
and lunch.
While a conductor-PI teacher may work with multiple groups in one or more rooms, a
working environment of flexibility and sharing of duties will be expected of all
conductor-PI teachers.
A conductor-PI teacher is required to be in good physical health. Performing every day
duties will require frequent positions of standing, walking, and sitting. Stooping,
kneeling, and crawling will be occasionally required. A conductor-PI teacher may need
to move and lift students at the center.
