The Standing Committees within Heritage Ranch are where almost everything that goes on, or gets done, within the
Ranch begins. There are seven Standing Committees and each has a specialty that corresponds with most, if not all,
of the functioning bodies operating in the Ranch. The committees oversee what is being done and make
suggestions to either our General Manager, Tony Trevino, or the managing Director for a specific function, i.e., Golf,
Food & Beverage, Infrastructure, etc. The Board of Directors?approval is required for most changes and especially in
policy or governance or unbudgeted or Reserve expenditures. The HOA Board approves the assignment of all
Standing Committee Chairpersons.

The Standing Committees and the current Chairperson for each and
the number of volunteers in each committee are as follows:
Activities Committee - Anita Wormald ? 10 voting members plus
approximately 60 on sub-committees
Finance Committee ? Norm Udovich ? 8 voting members
Food and Beverage ? Barbara Giles ? 12 voting members
Golf ? Paul Sawasaki ? 7 voting members
Infrastructure ? Clara Bahner ? 18 voting members
Marketing and Communications ? Cathy Honeycutt ? 5 voting members
Architectural Review Committee ? Liz Glasco ? 3 voting members, 2 inspectors

If a resident has an idea/suggestion they feel would be constructive or could help in the performance of our
community, the place to begin the approval process is with the appropriate committee. Reaching out to the
Committee Chairperson with the idea/suggestion is the first step in the process. The Chairperson will advise if the
idea has been previously explored, and if not, place on the agenda for their next meeting allowing the resident to
present that idea to the entire committee. If the committee votes approval for the suggestion, it can be taken to our
General Manager and then the HOA Board for approval and action.
All Standing Committees meet monthly and are open to all residents as guests. The Architectural Review Committee
meets weekly, in executive session, to review all of the many resident requests they get for changes, additions or
modifications to the exterior of their homes. The ARC meets in executive session due to the sensitive nature of their
reviews. The committee meeting dates/times/location are published in the weekly ?Your Week Ahead?emails
published every week by Eric. The committee meeting schedule is also available on the resident website,
h er it ager an ch .o n lin e.
If you would like to be active or ?give back?to our community as a volunteer, being on one of these committees is a
great way to start. As you can see by the number of volunteers on these committees many folks are needed. If you
would like more information on how to help or be a part of this process please reach out to any of the Committee
Chairpersons or any member of the HOA Board.

St r eam in g TV Ser vices
We grew up watching TV stations on a big, heavy TV set with the help of rabbit ears or an outside antenna. We
turned the knob on the front of the TV to get to each station. A few years later, TV sets even came with remote
co n t r o ls.
Then came the age of cable TV boxes and way more channels. We used VHS tapes and machines to record TV shows
and movies. A few years later, we had satellite TV. You can still see around Heritage Ranch a few folks with dishes
bolted to the side of their roof area.
Fast forward to today. Most TV sets can connect to the Internet via a wire or Wifi. Either way, once your TV can
connect to the Internet, you can ?stream?TV stations, shows, and movies.
If your TV set is several years old, you may be able to add hardware and still gain access to the Internet on your TV.
Several examples of add-on hardware are: Apple TV, Roku Streaming Stick, Amazon Fire Stick, etc. You can purchase
one of those at a store or online, but check with your TV first to make sure it has a port to plug in such hardware.
If you have a modern TV that is only a few years old, chances are that it has a built-in network card that allows your
TV to connect to the Internet right now.
Once your TV is connected to the Internet, you can follow the instructions that came with the hardware listed above
or follow your TV set up and add what are known as ?Apps.?Apps, which is short for applications, allow you access
to such streaming services as YouTube TV, Sling, Hulu and Hulu Live, Netflix, Apple TV, Amazon Prime TV, etc.
Most streaming services provide storage of shows and movies in the ?cloud.?In other words, you save shows you
like on their servers, not a set top box.
You will need to go online to each streaming service?s web sites and read about their costs and what channels they
offer. Most allow Basic Plans, but you can add additional channels should you desire.
To use streaming services and Apps, in general, a monthly fee is required, and this fee varies according to the
streaming service provided and the features and functions chosen by you. In June 2022, the starting monthly price
for Sling TV is $35.00, YouTube TV is $65.00, and Hulu Live is $70.00 a month, Netflix ranged from $9.99 to $19.99 a
month. Amazon Prime offers content that is included if you are an Amazon Prime Subscriber. Some Apps offer free
TV and movie access. Some free Apps are Crackle, Hoopla, Kanopy, Peacock, Pluto TV, the Roku Channel, Tubi TV,
Vudu, and Xumo.

Next month we?ll talk about coax (Grande) and fiber (AT&T) cables.

Thank you to Scott Chattaway and Craig Judd for organizing the sessions. We couldn?t have done it without the

·Stay hydrated during the match

Simple. Sweet. And oh, so delightful on a hot summer day! The beautiful front yard at 1007 Shoal Creek Court shows
off a rainbow of colors provided by well-chosen perennials that can hold their own in the hottest part of our year.
These include the bright gold of Stella d?Oro daylilies, the icy blue of Victoria Blue Salvia, the delicate crème and pale
yellow of Coreopsis, and the vibrant deep pink of Texas Hardy Hibiscus which fills an entire corner across the
driveway with its stunning plate size blooms ? nothing wows during the dog days of summer like this perennial
hibiscus! The green blades of a mass of iris anchor the other end of the bed ? having bloomed in the spring their
leaves now offer architectural interest and structure. Two white crepe myrtles and a Bald Cypress provide structure
and some shade for this charmer. A final splash of color is layered on with pink and purple Cora Vinca and big,
bright red Caladiums that peek out from behind all the other color. What a lovely and welcoming yard to call home!
