LGUs heighten
efforts to fight
COVID-19
rcespLvGoUisdn' s19e BY AY L A THERESA V. BUGAY
Soon after the sudden outbreak of
COVID-19, the national government
imposed an enhanced community
quarantine (ECQ) in Luzon, restricting almost
every movement outside people’s homes.
Since the ECQ limits the movement, most
livelihoods have been affected which
causes struggle to everyday living of
Bataeños.
The virus created chain-reaction-
problems to the government
especially to the Local Government
Units. Aside from combating
the virus, it is also a challenge
to LGUs to provide the needs
of Bataeños during the ECQ.
LGUs are urged to take action
and implement programs
that will help and protect the
community.
Thankfully, the brilliant
minds of LGU officials and
personnel came up with
different strategies to prevent
the spread of COVID-19 and
at the same time provide the
needs of their constituents.
From institutionalizing
checkpoints to distributions
of relief goods, Bataan LGUs
managed to overcome the
challenges of pandemic.

COVID-19 LGUs
vulnerability
BY ALLAN DON L. MALONZO
THROUGH THE initiative of the
Civil Engineering Department of
Bataan Peninsula State University
- Main Campus, a COVID-19
vulnerability of the province was
created.
Said map is included in the CoMap
Project of the CE Department that
aims to make provincial, municipal
and barangay-level vulnerability maps
based on risk factors such as population
density, and number of PUIs, PUMs
and confirmed cases in Bataan.
Identification of vulnerable
communities in Bataan is a great help
to LGUs and other government agencies
in order to formulate actions in the
prevention of covid-19.
