Dear Teachers,
Welcome to a new school year! We have a wonderful opportunity to offer our
students, their families, the parish community and one another the best we have
to give; our love of God, our belief in good and our desire to pass on to others the
love of learning and growing in the direction God provides.
May each day bring you a sense of purpose, a chance to laugh, and abundant
opportunities to grow!
Prayers and Peace for each of you!

Jesus, Others, Yourself - Priorities in living a

life filled with JOY!

The ABC’s of it all …

A – Assurance; The brain needs an environment conducive for learning. This includes an environment that is absent of threat
and supportive of confidence and certainty in one’s own abilities.

B – Meaning; Be meaningful. The brain naturally searches for connection and meaning. It is constantly trying to understand
purpose and significance.

C – Collaboration; The brain is social. People are built to work, play, learn, and live together. Collaborating with others is the
key to the learning process and human development.

D – Differentiation; Every brain is unique and learns differently. Understanding each learner’s social, emotional, and academic
functions help guide the academic process.

E – Emotion; Emotion drives our attention and our attention drives our learning. The use of emotion hooks and engages the
learners to the lesson.

F – Feedback; The brain craves immediate feedback. It is feedback that is essential for creating accurate neural growth.

C.L.A.S.S. – Connecting learning assures successful students. 2016

Lesson Plans should include; specific teaching and learning strategies, student activities, outcomes and assessments, re-
teaching, guided and independent practice opportunities, materials used, pacing and careful thought on student based needs,
interests, and current or seasonal events.
Lesson Plans are to be completed weekly and submitted via email to the school receptionist on the first workday of the week;
by 8:00 am.
A substitute folder and access to plans and materials must be readily available in case of teacher
absence.

Taking time to reflect on daily and weekly plans is part of sound educational practice and is an expectation of STE.

Praying the Rosary is an important Catholic tradition. We
celebrate the Feast of the Holy Rosary on October 7th. We
can honor this practice and help our students build their
own faith life by providing them the opportunity to pray
the Rosary as a school family.

What is Eucharistic Adoration?

Understood simply, Eucharistic Adoration is adoring or
honoring the Eucharistic Presence of Christ. In a deeper
sense, it involves "the contemplation of the Mystery of
Christ truly present before us".

The theme for National Catholic Schools Week 2019 is “Catholic

Schools: Learn. Serve. Lead. Succeed.” Schools typically observe the
annual celebration week with Masses, open houses and other activities
for students, families, parishioners and community members. Through

these events, schools focus on the value Catholic education provides to
young people and its contributions to our church, our communities and
our nation.

Students must be given access to information about
their performance . . . At the broadest level, students
need to know if they actually have mastered the
material or not. Giving them information about the
ways they are studying, reading, searching for

31 What is the meaning of receiving ashes on Ash Wednesday?

Ashes are an ancient symbol of repentance (sackcloth and ashes).
They also remind us of our mortality ("remember that you are dust")
and thus of the day when we will stand before God and be judged.
This can be linked easily to the death and resurrection motif of
Baptism. To prepare well for the day we die, we must die now to sin
and rise to new life in Christ. Being marked with ashes at the
beginning of Lent indicates our recognition of the need for deeper
conversion of our lives during this season of renewal.

Through Mary, I was invited into the Catholic fold. It was her feminine presence
and the safety of her motherhood that helped me grow. My child’s heart was so full

of love for my mother in heaven and understood already what my head could not
yet know: Mary would bring me to Jesus. The growing would be toward Jesus, for

Jesus, with Jesus. Through Mary, Jesus was brought to you and to me. She was
delivered up like an innocent, perfect spring flower to lighten our spirits, complete

our senses, bring the very aroma of heaven to our world in need of warming, and
welcome our hearts into the eternal mystery of spring and growing things.
