EXPLANATORY NOTES The purpose of this finding aids book was made to help researchers learn more about the records kept by Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) and how they are being used to preserve the company's rich history. The data is available via digital archives. Records, papers, images, and artifacts that shed light on the history of telecommunications in Malaysia may be found in the TM archive. This introduction describes the main points of the task, which center on the creation of the archive and its subsequent contents. The many different types of resources housed in the TM archive together shed light on the company's history and the ways in which it has shaped the telecoms sector in Malaysia. Official records, reports, marketing materials, and pictures are just some of the items that may be found in the repository. Researchers, historians, and the general public all have access to a wealth of information on the development of communication technologies in Malaysia thanks to these resources, which detail major milestones, innovations, and initiatives performed by TM throughout its history.

The definition of archive is a building or part of building that keep all the collection or enduring value of historical documents or records providing information about a place, institution or group of people. Documents, images, videos, audio files, physical objects, and digital data are all included. The ability to look back at historical events, societal shifts, and the development of ideas through time is made possible by archives, which also play an important role in conserving cultural, social, political, and technical history. Land titles, official communications, and government policy are only a few examples of the kinds of documents that could be kept in archives for their legal or administrative significance. Archival management is the process of evaluating a collection's value, acquiring it, organizing it, describing it, storing it, and making it accessible so that it may be used in the future. INTRODUCTION

Not to mention, archives are divided into a few types. The records and papers created by institutions like enterprises, government agencies, and educational institutions are the primary focus of institutional archives. Records of government bodies, such as laws, official communications, and public history materials, are collected and preserved in government archives. Diaries, letters, pictures, and manuscripts are just some of the items that are carefully preserved in historical archives. There are special places called archives that are dedicated to preserving and exhibiting works of art, antiques, and audiovisual recordings that are part of our shared cultural history. With the advent of the digital era, digital archives have sprung up, storing anything from electronic documents to websites to multimedia files. However, we decided to use the business archive known as the Telekom Malaysia Archive for this task. In conclusion, many archives serve vital functions in conserving and making available various forms of historical and cultural knowledge

HISTORY OF TELEKOM MALAYSIA BERHAD

TM, which is an abbreviation for Telekom Malaysia Berhad, is the most successful and significant of all the telecommunications companies in Malaysia. Individuals, businesses, and communities located all across the country are brought together as a result of its efforts. TM is a company that has a long and storied history that spans several decades. Over the course of that history, the company has evolved and adapted to the constantly shifting surroundings of the telecommunications business. Because of this, the organization has always provided innovative services and infrastructure in order to fulfill the ever-increasing demands of the digital era. In addition, TM was first established in 1946 as the Department of Telecommunications, which was a member of the Malayan Posts and Telecommunications Organization at the time. This was the company's original incarnation. This is the point in time when its history begins to become clear. Throughout the course of its existence, it went through a number of various makeovers and rebranding initiatives until eventually becoming the firm that is presently known as Telekom Malaysia Berhad in 1987. Since then, TM has made significant progress toward its goal of becoming Malaysia's primary provider of telecommunications services. To this end, the company has been steadily expanding both the scope of the services it provides and the network over which it operates. In addition, since TM is a comprehensive telecommunications company, it offers its clients, business partners, and public sector clients a wide range of services that are customized to fulfill the specific needs that are unique to each of these groups. Fixed-line telephone service, broadband internet access, data transfer, digital solution implementation, and wholesale service provision are some examples of the sorts of offers that fall under this category. Users are able to acquire advanced services because TM's infrastructure, which is made up of a vast network of fiber-optic cables, enables high-speed connections and supports high data transfer rates. This enables customers to get complex services. In addition to this, one of the most amazing achievements that the firm has achieved so far is the debut of their fiber-optic internet service, which is known as UniFi. Because it made high-speed broadband connectivity readily accessible to households as well as commercial establishments throughout the whole of Malaysia, the launch of UniFi was a significant development for the internet sector in that nation. As a result of its robust facilities, UniFi is in a position to provide reliable and rapid internet connections to its customers. Customers are able to enjoy faultless online experiences as a result of this, including the streaming of high-definition content and participation in applications that need a significant amount of bandwidth. The TM Archive is a storehouse of information that contains a variety of records, papers, images, and artifacts from throughout the company's history. These documents provide scholars, historians, and the general public with a glimpse into the expansion and evolution of the telecommunications business in Malaysia. The collection is loaded with a variety of information about TM's most important initiatives, such as the installation of internet access nationally, the growth of telecommunication services throughout the country, and the introduction of cutting-edge technology. CONTROVERSIES AND CRITICISM Internet Many people in Malaysia rely on TM's network for their professional and personal needs, and hence TM's inaction is problematic. Customers expect more quality in exchange for their TM monetary investment. Telekom Malaysia is under pressure to boost internet speed at reduced prices in order to satisfy customer demand and government request. That's why it is hard for Telekom Malaysia to expand its service to every place that isn't served by UniFi. For an instance, TM also failed to notified its consumers of a disruption in the UNIFI services, but the company did not provide any explanation for the issue. That is because lots of people are locked out of services like Unifi and Streamyx. The recurring approach that TM takes in managing customer complaints, which involves claiming technological restrictions and asking customers to be patient, is not an acceptable course of action.

Price Many Customers are unhappy with the pricing of the services. This has make the consumer to switch to a different provider of the same services such as Red One, Maxis, Celcom or other telecommunication network. This is because TM did not being transparent in its dealings with the people by giving outstanding value packages rather than taking benefit of consumers' unwillingness to consider their options. Other than that, TM also did not justify the differential in pricing in their products and services. For an example, in locations where UNIFI is not available, TM should standardise pricing for Megabits per second (Mbps) to ensure that customers are treated equitably regardless of the technology used. Therefore, although the price has the potential to retain customers for a longer or shorter period of time, how long the customer remains a customer also depends on whether the price is fair and whether the customer is satisfied with the service provided.

URL: https://www.nst.com.my/news/nation/2020/03/578840/telcosget-board-governments-prihatin-rakyat-initiative COMPETITORS Nowadays, numerous competitors enter the market and provide identical goods and services to consumers. One of the factors that has an effect on customer loyalty to TM products and services is the growing number of competing providers of telecommunications services. This is because, most of the customers nows are switching to other service providers like Maxis and Celcom, where many Telecom Malaysia (TM) lines have been terminated rather than installed. The customers also have a tendency to switch to other providers because they are dissatisfied with the services provided by TM companies and the packages offered by those companies in comparison to those offered by other providers.
