and harmonium and Amir Khan on
Sarangi .

SOAP-CANDLE MAKING ACTIVITY
DEPARTMENT OF SCIENCE

Learning is an active process and we
learn the best by doing. Bearing this in
mind, learners of grades IX&X were
enthusiastically involved in Soap and
Candle making activity to strengthen the
theoretical concept of Saponification
and Physical and Chemical changes
respectively. Apart from the concepts
learnt, the learners experienced to
carefully handle and take care of
apparatus, use of essential oils and
colors in right proportion. Multiple
queries of the learners were solved
during the process of Soap and Candle
making, thus enhancing the learning
and broadening the learners knowledge.

Career Fest’22

Career Fest was planned for the learners of

With the objective of directing our

focus towards covert aspects of

mental health, an Inter School

Psychology Conference,

Esperanza’22 was organized and

hosted by Lotus Valley

International School, Gurugram, on

12th November’22. The event was

organized to create a forum for

stimulating an enquiry into

prevalent issues related to Mental

health and well being. With

participation from about 20

schools, there was a range of

activities including a virtual poster

session, Debates, Audio-visual

clips, Quiz, and a panel of Clinical

Professionals. Esperanza’22 was

conducted on an online platform.

The conference had eminent
personalities and panelists in
attendance. The online event was
attended by our honourable Chief
Guest, Mr.Sudhir Kakar, who is a
psychoanalyst, novelist and scholar
in the fields of cultural psychology
and psychology of religion. Mr.
Kakar is the author/editor of
twenty-three books of non-fiction
and seven of fiction. The Mind in
the World: Collected Papers of
Sudhir Kakar, 4 volumes (Culture
and Society, Psychoanalysis,
Biography, Religion) will be
published in Spring 2023 by Oxford
University Press.

Psychology Conference

Our Guest of Honor, Ms.Ameeta
Parsuram. Ms. Parsuram is a psychologist
by profession and has been involved in
teaching, training and therapy for thirty
years. As a psychologist she has had an
interest in understanding human
relationships, especially from a woman’s
perspective. Poetry is her passion. Her
poetry is sensitive and is a vivid
reflection of the experiences of human
beings.

Panelists for the event included
Dr.Anjuman Bains, a counselling
psychologist and Researcher who’s
associated with the Ministry of Youth
Affairs and Sports, Dr. Aleena Ali, an
Expressive Arts Based Therapist at Fortis
Memorial Research Institute, Gurugram,
Ms Sumangali R. Nair, an Assistant
Professor at Department of Psychology,
Jesus and Mary College, Delhi University,
Ms. Kunashni Parikh, a clinical and sports
psychologist and also a former Under 17

Ms Anita Malhotra commenced the
session with an overview of the
academic framework and CBSE
guidelines. She shared her valued
suggestions and approaches with
parents, highlighting the importance
of parental involvement in
maintaining a balance between
academics and play time, dissuading
their ward from social media, internet
etc. The Head of the institution
emphasized on the importance of
school rules, attendance, regularity,
and periodic tests; encouraging
children to participate in as many
events, as these experiences build
confidence and self-belief.

focus areas for learners. Queries from
parents were entertained at the end of
the session by the Director-Principal.
The Vice-principal, Ms Harvinder Kaur
summed up the session and thanked
parents and learners for their
presence, emphasizing that the
learners implement and bring into
practice the valuable guidelines
advised by principal ma’am and
prepare as per the information shared
in the presentation. The session was
enriching and highly informative and
was well received and appreciated by
the audience of 250 participants.
