Exploring our Existence... The five elements of Nature: Significance in Vaastu The five elements of nature comprise of all the resources that make up life. The ‘important panch’ are earth (Prithvi), Water (Jal), Fire (Agni), Air (Vayu) and Space (Aakash). They are the most prosperous and divine things in nature. By the balance of these natural elements the life on land is possible. Vastu, or the science of harmonizing these elements together is unsurpassed as for the betterment of mankind and the animal kingdom. Each home has five elements in different proportions. Everybody is comprised of these elements and in the right proportions that bring health and happiness, but a slight imbalance is enough to produce disease and misfortune in the life of a person. Only if these elements continue to balance themselves with harmony, will the living world survive the harsh effects of disparities. -Ahaana Moudgil (VI C) Water is one of the nature’s precious gifts to us. Water is the foundation of our lives. It is used in most of our daily activities and is also a major requirement for human survival. Even the plants and animals need water to survive. Therefore, life is impossible on earth without water. Many people make water dirty and unavailability of clean water is dangerous for life. Thus, we should learn to conserve water, keep it clean and use it consciously. Kashish Khan (VI F) Everything around us is a part of Nature which is made up of 5 elements - Earth (Prithvi), Water (Jal), Fire (Tejas), Wind (Vayu) and Space/Ether (Akash). All the elements are very important for the natural habitat. They support us in maintaining good health and staying fit. An imbalance of any of these elements can result in physical, emotional, and spiritual problems. Moreover, they help us in every way and teach us the lesson of harmony which is an extremely important one. Saina Singh (VI C)

Around the World...

Thoughts of a Teacher... Among the five elements, water entities process the subtle taste sensations. The ecstasy that we experience while we indulge in manifestations of varied flavour, the palatableness of honey to the astringent feel after biting on to an ash guard are all the connections that we are constantly constructing with Jal ‘The Water’. Unlike the other entities, Water is most required to synthesize our energy. Do the Earth a favor, be a water saver! Akanksha Sejwal English Faculty The Driving Force of All Nature The quintessential element of water can be enhanced in simple ways. Practice cold showers at an appropriate time of the day. Consume naturally sweet and salty foods. Embrace nature, take a walk, and smell the leaves, trees, and earth. Enjoy the gentle sound of flowing water. Look at awe inspiring images of the sea. Reconnect to this element now and move closer to our natural self. Sharad Jain Science Faculty WATER- THE CLASSIC ELEMENT

FIVE ELEMENTS OF NATURE The five elements of nature, namely Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Space, have been recognized across different cultures and philosophies for centuries. These elements represent the fundamental building blocks of the natural world and are believed to have unique qualities that shape the environment around us. Earth is associated with grounding, stability, and nourishment. Water represents fluidity, adaptability, and cleansing. Fire symbolizes transformation, energy, and power. Air represents movement, freedom, and communication. Space represents openness, expansion, and the infinite. Understanding and appreciating these elements can help us connect with the natural world, cultivate a sense of balance and harmony within ourselves, and develop a deeper understanding of the interconnectivity of all things. Moreover, these elements serve as a reminder that we are all part of nature and that our actions have an impact on the environment and the delicate balance of the elements that sustain life on Earth. Megha Joshi English Faculty Ancient Hindu wisdom that all matter is composed of five basic elements - Prithvi, Jal, Agni, Vayu and Akash is in harmony with our existence as well and we need to assimilate their characteristics in our lives, Earth represents patience, Water nurtures life. Fire fuels quest for knowledge, Air promotes purity and Space reminds us that we exist as part of a collective ecosystem. Sonali Dutta English Faculty Mentor Speak...

‘Fire’ has been key to survival in the Evolution of humankind and its expansion. Everything that we consume today for our survival is prepared and purified by Fire. Agni (Fire) keeps us warm to survive cold conditions without which we can perish. Hence, it is an indispensable element to our development – generating electricity, aiding communication and fostering expansion. It is the pure and primordial energy that supports life when in control and devastates when left unchecked. Shilpa Bhardwaj Sharma P/o Mehaan Sharma (VIII E) Earth is the only planet where life exists. Known to be 71% covered with water, earth without a doubt is the most beautiful planet of our solar system. But, are we taking enough steps to save this amazing planet for our next generation? With all the advancements and technologies, we humans are solely responsible for all the harm caused to this precious planet. Therefore, we all should come together to educate one and all and take all the possible initiatives to save our Mother Earth, so that it can grow and bloom forever. Shaheen AfrozP/o Kashish Khan (VI C) Our Stakeholders Speak...

One Earth One Chance... It is believed that the universe is made up of five elements: Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Ether (Space), collectively known as Panch Mahabhoot. Each element represented a unique aspect of the universe, such as solidity, fluidity, movement, energy and spirituality. By gaining knowledge of these elements, individuals could comprehend the basic principles of nature and how they are connected. For example, the Earth element embodied the concept of solidity, whereas Water exemplified fluidity, and Air symbolized the property of gaseousness. Fire could transform matter and Ether was the foundation of the other elements and a way to become spiritually enlightened Shalini SinghP/o Shaina Singh (VI C) The Life Philosophy of the Panchtattvas The five elements of nature also known as the Panchatatva – ‘pancha’ meaning five and ‘tattva’ meaning elements highlight a philosophical aspect of our lives. The natural order of the elements in the body are: Earth and Water are at the base, below the navel, Fire is in the middle of the torso; Air and space reside in the upper body. These elements have certain psychological attributes. The element of Earth or Prithvi holds things together, is a signifier of strength, stability, balance, calmness, grounding, resilience and confidence. The element of water is a lifesaver, a giver of pleasures. Fluidity brings flexibility, growth and strength. The element of fire burns anything that comes in contact with it. It is very necessary to burn the impurities present in our thoughts. Air or Vayu is characterized as an element that always moves in the upward direction and rising high. Rising well after a fall makes one a stronger human being. Priyanka Moudgil P/o Ahaana Moudgil (VI C)

My Ranthambore Safari Ride My family went for a safari ride to Ranthambore national park. First when we entered, we spotted lots of langurs. They were cute. When we entered the core area, we spotted deer and peacocks. The peacocks were so beautiful. I even tried to capture them in my big camera which my grandfather gave me. Then, we came across crocodiles. They were lazing around a lake and bathing in the Sun. We also saw a wild hare. It was so adorable, munching on some leaves. When we were driving beside a huge lake, we saw a dot on the green land across the lake. It looked like a bird from far away. But people said it was a tiger and we did not believe them. Luckily, there was a professional photographer who super zoomed his humongous camera and we found out it was a tiger only. The tiger got up and started walking. Lo and behold, we saw the tiger up and close. It walked patiently past us. It was a golden moment for me. We captured memories in photos and videos. I was thrilled and had so much fun. Written and Experienced by Vivaan Dogra V - G My Lost Dog — Tucker I lost my dog, whose name is Tucker. He is cute and a golden retriever. He went missing in the middle of the night. Despite my efforts, he’s nowhere in sight. I check the garden each day. For it’s where he often goes to play. To my luck, I found him there. But he was sniffing something and not sure what or where. Then he found his lost toy. When he got it, he started barking with joy. That was the reason he was gone. He was looking for it all along. Mishka Sood V-H Water Water is the main source of life on Earth and without water life would be impossible. All living beings such as humans, plants and animals are dependent on it. We human beings have polluted the water and in further time there will be no water and no life. Water is important for us to keep us healthy and to protect the environment. So, save water. One night when Jamie was going to bed, he thought to himself, “Should I fill the baker’s doughnuts with toothpaste or toilet paper Miss Andy’s house?” He thought for a bit and decided to do the doughnut one since toilet-papering someone’s house seemed like a lot of work to Jamie. In the morning when Jamie woke up, he was ready to prank the baker! He went outside but noticed something weird. Nobody paid attention to him. For instance, when he waved to his good pal, George, George completely ignored Jamie...! But Jamie did not care. After a while, Jamie reached the bakery and sneakily put his hand on a fresh doughnut. Surprise! Jamie’s hand went right through the doughnut! Now this really freaked Jamie out. He thought he was a ghost! To prove his theory, Jamie started making a big fool out of himself with his shirt off by jumping around in public. But, as expected, nobody noticed him. After, Jamie saw a big crowd forming in front of the village’s church. He started following the crowd. Jamie noticed that everyone was wearing black clothes and soon realized that it was someone’s funeral. Jamie started to recognize some people like his friends from school, his parents, his cousins etc. It was HIS funeral. Soon, when people left, Jamie opened the coffin and he found a carved pumpkin inside which was supposed to look like him! To be honest, it kind of did look like Jamie. Then, the whole village came and yelled “Got you!!”. Jamie was confused. He had a lot of questions on his mind. They explained that the doughnut was just a hologram. Jamie was so embarrassed and had a tough time believing that the village had gotten him good. Everyone had a good laugh and went back to their houses. Aaria Tickoo IV - B

From traditional Chinese medicine to Feng Shui, almost every ancient culture described the nature of natural phenomena composed of several basic elements. In Indian philosophy, the five elements are known as pancha bhootas. These five basic elements are Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Space. They represent the physical and energetic qualities of the human body and of the physical world. The flow of these five elements influence our physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. When they are in harmony, we experience peace and good health. When they are out of balance, we can experience suffering and unhappiness. The awareness and understanding of these laws of nature allows us to bring stability in our lives as well as in nature. Panchtatva- The Core Truth... The Enigmatic Dance of Fire: Harnessing the Elemental Power of Nature Fire is like a mesmerizing dancer, enchants us with its natural charm. It can be both fierce and graceful, destroying and renewing. Throughout history, it's been a symbol of warmth, light, and life, a bridge to the divine. Today, we admire its beauty and use its powerful energy for a cleaner planet. Fire, the mysterious magician, shapes our world and captures our hearts. Sudha Pandey Pre Primary Faculty The Harmony of Nature's Five Elements The natural world is a tapestry of beauty and balance, woven together by the harmonious interplay of five fundamental elements - Air, Water, Land, Fire and Space. The importance of understanding and respecting these elements cannot be overstated. They are not just abstract concepts; they shape our world, influence our well-being, and inspire countless cultures and belief systems. By recognizing the interdependence of these elements, we gain a profound insight into the delicate balance of nature. In our quest for knowledge, let us embrace the wisdom of these five elements as we strive to be responsible for our planet. By doing so, we honor the intricate and beautiful dance of life that is sustained by the harmony of these elements. Conservation of these five elements is not just an option, but a moral obligation to secure a thriving planet for current and future generations. Akshita Rastogi Pre Primary Faculty Fire, water, earth, wind, and space, All five elements we must embrace. Each one unique, with its own grace, Let's cherish them in every place. Fire reflects passion and desire, With warmth and light that never tires. Water, We must preserve its purity, And avoid any kind of impurity. Earth, our foundation and source of life, Needs to be taken care of without any strife. Wind, the gentle breath of nature, Is a force that we must nurture. Space, the vast universe above, With stars shining bright like a dove. Let us pledge to take care of all the elements of nature that we dredge. Monika Jain Pre Primary Faculty

Water The potential energy of water has been used since long to make power. However these days, the chemical nature of water is being used to produce a new source of energy. When electricity is applied to a water molecule, H2 is produced. When this electricity which was used to split the molecule, is sourced from solar or wind energy, the Hydrogen being produced is called Green Hydrogen. This can be used as a green fuel. It is the next breakthrough renewable energy every big company is planning to leverage. This is the power of Water which no one can mitigate. Sameer Ahmad P/o Feha Ahmad Nursery Marigold Nature- The Beauty of Balance... According to Hindu Mythology, every human body is made up of 5 elements that upon death are dissolved into respective elements of nature. Hence, balancing the cycle of nature. The concept of harmonizing these 5 elements has been embedded in diverse cultures. EARTH- Embodies stability and nourishment qualities. WATER- Represents emotions, adaptability and flow of life. FIRE- Symbolizes passion, energy and the power to ignite change. AIR- Embodies communication, intellect and expansion. ETHER- Signifies connection, transcendence and divine energy.
