With a sense of pride and patriotism, the curators of the monthly
magazine LVISG Times are delighted to publish the second edition
this year, on the landmark occasion of India's Independence Day.

The bevy of articles, paintings, art pieces, sketches, drawings in the
magazine pages represent the talent and hard work of our blossoming
lotusians. The reflection of the students’ creativity is the epitome of
the magazine.

I congratulate the entire team for their hard work and dedication in publishing yet another
successful edition. I am sure that the positive attitude, sustained efforts and innovative ideas
exhibited by our young children will surely stir the minds of the readers and take them to the
fantastic world of unalloyed joy and pleasure.

Ruheen Bajaj - VII Damodar ENCHANTED

Skin tanned to a golden brown,
You are the envy of many;
Body sculpted like a God,

You are the epitome of beauty.
Eyes as blue as the sea,

And lips as pink as the summer rose,
Your voice enchanting, and hair flowing,

Your smile, cheeky quite a lot,
But, sweet and innocent like a young

child too.
You are my love, my soul, my heart,

You’re my only inspiration.
Like a slow, lethal drug, you feed my

addiction
Your love, a mix of wine and poison,

Dripping down here and there,
Every little thing you do is toxic,
And it always leaves me wanting more.

"Freedom is never dear at any price. It is the breath of life.
What would a man not pay for living?"
~ Mahatma Gandhi

It was a chilly Saturday morning. A typical couch potato, I was watching a movie. The rasping
sound of the telephone woke me up from my slumber of fantasies and fairies. It was the call of my
best friend Chinmayi. She mentioned that she was coming to my house. I was thrilled at this news
as I would be meeting her after eons. As I heard the doorbell, it gave me nervous bouts of
excitement, which stole through my senses.

As we played and enjoyed each other’s company, out came an encyclopaedia on Kolkata. While my
mom was rustling up our favourite pasta, I suddenly became nostalgic about my trip to Kolkata.

My maternal grandparents dwell in Kolkata. I went there on a trip of 4 days. On the first day, I
met my best friend Divisha and her brother Samarth, and had a whale of a time. Divisha and I
indulge in shenanigans driving our mothers up the wall and are eternal partners in crime.

On the second day, we visited the historic Victoria Memorial Museum and the M.P. Birla
Planetarium with my cousin Riddhansh. Victoria Memorial Museum was decorated in memory of
Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. It was an eye opener to see weapons, letters to his family, and his
journals on display. In M.P Birla Planetarium we saw a show in Hindi on the Solar System which
was quite enlightening. On our way back, we used the famed yellow and black taxis of Kolkata. On
the same day, we met my mom’s colleague in Salt Lake and made a new friend Xena. We visited
the time zone and had a fun time.

On the third day, we visited the St. Paul's Cathedral and the Indian Museum which was built in
1894. In St. Paul's Cathedral, we saw mother Mary and prayed to her for the well-being of our
family and the nation. At the Indian Museum, we saw many statues and learned about human
evolution. By that time Riddhansh’s stomach had started rumbling and so was I famished. We had
our dinner at Quest mall. We went to the cinema in quest mall with everyone and watched the
movie 83. The movie was very inspiring. It talked about the World Cup which India won in 1983
when they were considered the minnows.

By the time I finished, the aroma of the piping hot pasta invaded my nostrils and it was simply lip-

smacking delicious. We gobbled it down in no time. We played for a while and oh! We realised it

was time to go home. We enjoyed it a lot throughout the day though.

Kolkata has rightly been called the City of Joy, as the warmth exuded by its people is legendary.

Kolkata is one of the most elegant and beautiful cities across the country. I would love to visit

Kolkata more often. Anusha Rajadnye - V Neems

आज़ादी का अमृत महोत्सव

DEAR CITIZENS, DEAR Revolutionaries
CITIZENS
This is a story,
Dear citizens, A story of old lore,
Though not as old
Let’s all go to the past. As Akbar and Ghor;

To the time when the British ruled

The air was wet
And India was not about to last. The night cold,
Even with that mindset

Our brave held;

The time when people of India were scared,

Held the future,
But thanks to our freedom fighters, Held the way,
Held the path
Their fear was sooner teared. The path to freedom as we say;

When the people of India realized,

Bullets were shot
They can win by being united, The dark night screamed,
However the callous colonisers

Their viceroys of wise
With greed and blind eyes;
They fought with the British bravely

And with the result they got delighted! Revolutionaries tried each way
Yet even hook and crook failed,
When India got victory, the Indians said, “We won! We Even though blood was shed
To England, gold still sailed.
won!”

Pragnay Sharma
And to make India a better country, teamwork had begun.
