Welcome Letters

Dear Valued Patrons,

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Downtown Cabaret Theatre (DCT). A special place
where adults, children, friends, and family come together to experience not only first-rate
entertainment but a unique way to spend time together BYOB Cabaret Style!
For over 40 years DCT has entertained audiences from Bridgeport and the surrounding
communities with affordable musicals, plays, and concerts. Open 52 weeks a year; we offer an
average of 6 shows per week with over 300 shows a year to choose from. Without our valued
audience, we would not have enjoyed this level of success. Thank you for being such loyal and
supportive patrons.
Help us become Fairfield County’s worst kept secret! Word of mouth is the key to keep DCT
vibrant and relative. Open your favorite social app or pick up the phone to let your friends and
family know about the Downtown Cabaret Theatre and our money-saving subscriptions!
On behalf of myself and the very hardworking and dedicated staff, production and creative
teams at DCT thank you for your loyal support.

Hugh Hallinan (Executive Producer)

Dear Valued Patrons,

Welcome to the Downtown Cabaret Main Stage Theatre’s production of Jesus Christ Superstar,
a show that has been produced by DCT three previous times over the past 40 years. This classic
rock opera is followed by the infectiously fun disco/drag queen show with a heart of glitter, Priscilla
Queen of the Desert. It is an honor for us to present them here to you in the intimate Downtown
Cabaret Theatre.
Special thanks to DCT Executive Producer, Hugh Hallinan, and the creative team on Superstar.
This fall we are also giving special mention to company member Christy McIntosh-Newsom,
the director of our recent production of The Hunchback of Notre Dame, as well as last season’s
Hairspray, Fancy Nancy, Little Red Riding Hoods, and In the Heights. Christy was one of the founding
members of Bridgeport Theatre Company and has served in a myriad of roles for the company
these past seven years. She has been an essential influence that led to the successful merge/
formation of Downtown Cabaret Theatre Main Stage Theatre two seasons ago. It is our pleasure
to have recently bestowed Christy with what we feel is the apt title of Associate Artistic Director
of Main Stage Theatre.
We hope to see you at more of our musicals or plays, children’s theatre performances, and
concerts here at the wonderful and unique Downtown Cabaret Theatre.

Eli Newsom (Producing Artistic Director)

Creative Bios

Lance Gray (Director/Choreographer) has had a lifelong relationship with Jesus Christ Superstar, being one
of his favorite musicals for as long as he can remember. At 10, he listened to the concept album until he knew
all the lyrics. At 19, he played Jesus at Theatre on the Square in Indianapolis, IN. He would play Judas later
and Jesus again over the next 6 years. After directing last year’s drama Amadeus, which was a great experi-
ence, he is glad to be back to directing the rock musical. Previous MST directing credits include American
Idiot, Hair, and Little Shop of Horrors. Lance also appeared as Juan Peron in DCT’s Evita, and as The Arbiter in
Chess: In Concert. Up next, Lance is putting on heels and lashes to portray Bernadette in Priscilla Queen of the
Desert. He has also been a part of our Children’s Theatre for the past 15 seasons. “Thank you to my creative
team, cast, band and crew. We did this, and I love it.”
