My Principle of Teaching

In my opinion, teaching is something that is wonderful and it is a
good deed. Teaching is the process where a teacher teaches an
individual a knowledge that brings goodness to oneself and the

world. I want to become a teacher where students can gain
knowledge and give positive impact on them. I want my students to
remember what I have taught and spread that knowledge to others.

My Personal Reflection on Microteaching

I enjoy Microteaching because this subject has taught and prepared
me to become a teacher. Madam Nirmala has provided so many

new knowledge about teaching and it has motivated me to become
a good teacher. I think that this subject and Madam Nirmala has
helped me to gain confidence in teaching and has benefit me in
good ways.

WEEK 1 - 8/9 Madam Nirmala introduced us to
Microteaching, and also briefed us
LECTURE on the assignments.

Madam explained to us the
difference between teaching and
microteaching.

Madam shared to us about the

teaching process and

advantages of microteaching.

And lastly, madam assigned us

a task to find information on

KSSM and CEFR.

WEEK 1 - 9/11 (TUTORIAL)

- Today, Madam Nirmala showed us the

latest format for the lesson plan. Madam
explained to us, each of the section in
the lesson plan. Madam also explained
to us the contents in the DSKP like the
themes, content standard, and etc.
Madam reminded us to download the
Bahasa Inggeris DSKP for our
reference. In conclusion, I was able to
refresh my memories about the lesson
plan and DSKP contents.

WEEK 2 –15/9 - Today, madam taught us the new
format of the lesson plan.
LECTURE
- Madam explained to us in detail
about the learning objectives and
learning outcomes.

- Madam showed us the S.M.A.R.T
criteria and advised us to apply
the criteria when writing our
learning outcomes.

LECTURE

• Madam Nirmala taught us on the

importance of set induction in
teaching.

- Set induction is important

because it acts as a warm-up
activity and to attract students
interest.

• Madam taught and explained to

us on the 4 strategies for set
induction which are:-

(1) Attention getting method.
(2) Interest method.
(3) Putting lesson in context.
(4) Advance organizers.

LECTURE

• And then, madam also
advised us to include 4
elements in our set induction
which are:-

(1) Keep it easy
(2) Include visual materials
(3) Fun
(4) Keep it meaningful

• And lastly, madam gave us a
task which was to a set
induction activity based on
the 4 strategies.

WEEK 3 – 23/9 Today, madam discussed on our
previous task. Madam asked for
TUTORIAL representatives from each group to
present our task on the 4 set
END OF WEEK 3 induction strategies. Madam correct
our mistakes, for us to make
improvements in our tasks, and gave
constructive feedback.

Week 4 – 29/9

LECTURE

• Today, madam Nirmala taught us on the

question techniques for set induction.

• Madam also revised us on the 6 Bloom’s

Taxonomy and advised us to apply them
in our lesson. The 6 Bloom’s Taxonomy
are:-

(1) Remembering
(2) Understanding
(3) Applying
(4) Analyzing
(5) Evaluating
(6) Creating

• Then, madam did a short discussion for

us to practice our questioning techniques
based on a poster about COVID-19.

LECTURE

• After that, madam explained to us

about the characteristics of a good
question.

• Each point, madam explained to us

clearly and in detail.

• Lastly, madam also advised us to

apply the 5’WH’ questions when we
want to ask any questions to the
students.

WEEK 4 – 30/9 • On 30th September, Madam Nirmala

TUTORIAL occupied the tutorial class with the mock
teaching for set induction presentation.
Each student took turns to present their set
induction video. After the presentation of
each students’ set induction video, Madam
Nirmala randomly choose 1 student to
provide the feedback for them and then
Madam will provide her own feedback to the
student.

WEEK 4 – 30/9

TUTORIAL

• The set induction presentation could not end

in 1 day therefore, Madam Nirmala will bring
forward the presentation next week on the
7th October 2021 (Thursday).

WEEK 5- 6/10 • On the 6th October, we did our
presentation on our assignment for
ASSIGNMENT- TASK A task A. Each group took turns to share
(PRESENTATION) screen of our recorded presentation.
After each presentation, Madam
Nirmala provided feedback for every
group. My group and I learned from
the feedback, Madam Nirmala
provided for us.

WEEK 5 – 7/10 • On the 7th October, we continued the
presentation for our set induction video. There
TUTORIAL were still a lot of students who have not
presented their video. I presented my video on
the day and received my feedback from Ain
and Madam Nirmala. The feedback from Ain
was that she enjoyed my set induction, and it
was good. She also said that the part where I
said “Wakanda Forever”, was funny.

WEEK 5 – 7/10 • Madam Nirmala’s feedback for me was also
positive. She commented that my set induction
TUTORIAL was short and sweet. She participated along
during my set induction and that made me so
happy. Madam also commented that I had a
good repo with my student. I appreciate
Madam Nirmala and Ain feedbacks towards
my set induction mock teaching.

WEEK 6 – 13/10 • On the 13th October, Madam taught us on the
questioning techniques and reinforcement
LECTURE strategies.

• Madam Nirmala explained to us the difference
between positive reinforcement and negative
reinforcement. Madam provided situational
examples for each reinforcement.

• Madam also taught us on the punishment for
positive approach.

• I understood what Madam Nirmala taught
because she provided examples that are
relatable to us.

WEEK 6 – 13/10

LECTURE

• At the end of the class, Madam Nirmala remind
us for the second mock teaching video. The
mock teaching, we must focus on the topic we
learned today, which is on questioning and
reinforcement technique. Madam advised us
that our mock teaching video should be 7
minutes.

WEEK 6 – 14/10

TUTORIAL

• On the 14th October, we continued the mock
teaching for set induction video presentation.
We watched the rest of the other students’ set
induction video. We also paid attention to
Madam Nirmala’s and the reviewers feedback
to the students who presented their video. In
conclusion, I learned a lot from the other
students’ set induction video.

WEEK 7 – 20/10 • On the 20th October, I had my first physical class
for microteaching. Madam Nirmala taught us on
LECTURE a new topic which is about stimulus variation.
Madam Nirmala also recap on the questioning
techniques which are the open and closed
ended questions. After that, Madam taught us
on the verbal and non-verbal reinforcement. For
the stimulus variation, madam explained to us
with clear examples to provide understanding.

WEEK 7 – 20/10

LECTURE

• In conclusion, I learned a lot from this lesson
because Madam taught us how to implement
stimulus variations, reinforcements, and
questioning techniques in the next mock
teaching.

WEEK 7 – 21/10 On the 21st of October, we presented our mock
teaching video for the presentation stage.
TUTORIAL Everyone took their turns to present their video. My
mock teaching video was 9 minutes long. The
reviewer who reviewed and gave feedback for my
video was Aimi. Her feedback was positive and I
appreciate the comments she shared because that
is how I can improve myself in my presentation
stage. The most helpful feedback that I got was
from Madam Nirmala because she reminded me
which important element that I forgot to include and
that made me become more aware of my mistakes.

WEEK 7 – 21/10

TUTORIAL

From Madam’s feedback, I also start to understand
the difference between verbal and non-verbal
reinforcements. In conclusion, I learned a lot from
Aimi’s and Madam Nirmala’s feedback on my
presentation stage mock teaching video.

WEEK 7 – 21/10 Below was Aimi’s feedback for my mock teaching
video:-
TUTORIAL • great teacher-student bonding
• perceives a fun environment
• great ambience of online tools (related everything 34
to the topic of the lesson)
• voice is loud and clear reinforcement techniques
(positive)
• promises no homework for a week as a reward. •
rewards students with ice-cream.
Questioning techniques:
• Thought provoking(student is able to think
critically in answering “5 important roles of a hero”
and “who is your hero?”.

WEEK 8 – 27/10 On the 27th October, we did the presentation on
our assignment for task B. The presentation was
LECTURE to present our ESL blog. My group and I chose
the platform wix to create our ESL blog. I
experienced and learned a lot on how to create a
learning blog using wix. In the ESL blog, we
incorporate all the 4 learning skills which are the
speaking, reading, writing, and listening skills.
Creating an ESL blog has helped me build my
creativity and critical thinking skills because it
guided me to develop learning materials for the
students.

WEEK 8 – 27/10

LECTURE

The feedback that my group and I received from
Madam Nirmala was positive. Madam said “good
job” on our presentation. All in all, I really
appreciate the task B assignment because I got to
improve more my creativity skills, gain more
knowledge and experience to create a blog that I
can use in the future.

WEEK 10 – 10 & 11 /11

WEEK 11 – 17/11 • On the 17th November, Madam Nirmala taught
us on a new topic which is on “Closure in a
LECTURE lesson”. Madam advised us that for closure we
should wrap up the lesson in 5 minutes. Madam
explained to us what to expect in the closure 39
stage like we need to gain feedback from the
students and get them to summarize the lesson
whether they have understood or not. Madam
also did not forgot to explain on the importance
and purpose of closure. Other than that, she
explained on reflective thinking of a teacher. A
teacher should be reflective during the process
of the closure stage.

WEEK 11 – 17/11

LECTURE

• As a conclusion, I learned a lot from this topic
because I got to learn what to include in the
closure stage such as the enhancement and
extension task. I got to understand the
difference between enhancement and extension
task.

WEEK 11 – 18/11

TUTORIAL

• On the 17th November, for tutorial, we did a
short demonstration for the closure stage. At the
beginning of the class, Madam put us into
breakout rooms in zoom to practice on our
closure stage. All of us did a 5 minute
demonstration for the closure stage. After each
demonstration, Madam provide feedback and
advice us on which part to improve more in the
closure stage.

WEEK 13 – 24/11 • On the 24th November, Madam Nirmala
assigned to us a task to test on our
LECTURE understanding on the set induction, closure,
reinforcement strategies, stimulus variation, and
teaching aids. The task was to identify the 42
teaching strategies used in 3 movie clips which
are Freedom Writers, Dead Poets Society, and
Harry Potter. This task has helped me to
observe and identify the teaching strategies in
the movie. It helped me to apply what I have
learned from previous lesson in the task given.
In conclusion, I learned a lot and got to test my
understanding in this task.

WEEK 13 – 25/11 • On the 25th November, we continued with our
third mock teaching presentation which is on the
TUTORIAL production stage. Madam Nirmala wanted to see
on the stimulus variation and teaching aids. For
this mock teaching, I did not get to present my 44
video as there was not enough time for all
students to present. Therefore, madam Nirmala
randomly choose which student to present. From
this session, I learned a lot from the other
student’s mock teaching video because a lot of
them received positive feedback from their
reviewer and Madam herself. I got to learn a lot
on how to include stimulus variations

WEEK 13 – 25/11 I got to learn a lot on how to include stimulus
variations and teaching aids in the lesson. From
TUTORIAL the other students’ presentation, I got to gain more
ideas from their mock teaching video. As for myself
and the other students who did not get to present
our mock teaching video, Madam Nirmala provided
a google form for our reviewers to provide
feedback on our mock teaching video. As in
conclusion, I learned and gained more knowledge
in this production stage because I got to see each
students different ways of teaching for the
production stage.

WEEK 14 – 1/12 • On the 1st December, Madam Nirmala taught us
on a new topic which is Whiteboard in
LECTURE classroom. She taught us on how to fully utilize
the whiteboard and what kind of tools that are
suitable to use for online platforms. Madam
Nirmala showed and demonstrated for us how to
fill in the spaces on the whiteboard where she
separated the space into 3 which are for the
questions, students responses, answers, and
pictures. Madam Nirmala also reminded us that
the whiteboard is used for brainstorming
sessions and if we want to use pictures,

LECTURE

we should use large printed materials where
students could see better and in detail. We should
use printed materials because it can save time and
we can be more organized in our lesson. As we
write something on the whiteboard, our body
should face the students and communicate along
with them. As in conclusion, I learned a lot from
Madam Nirmala’s demonstration as she taught
everything in clear details.

WEEK 14 – 2/12 • On the 2nd of December, we did the final mock
teaching stage which is the closure stage.
TUTORIAL Madam chose randomly some of the students to
present their closure stage video. Majority of the
students closure video were 4-5 minutes. 49
Watching my classmates closure video, I
learned a lot and understood the elements on
what to input in the closure stage. As for the final
mock teaching, I was also unable to present my
video as there was not enough time for every
student to present. Madam Nirmala provided a
google form for our reviewers to drop their
feedback on our closure stage video.

WEEK 15 – 8/12 • On the 8th of December, we did not have class
as Madam Nirmala had a meeting during the
LECTURE lecture time. So, Madam assigned us a task
which she had posted on Google Classroom.
The task was to revise and practice on
constructing a lesson plan. Madam wanted us to
apply and include all the important elements of
set induction, presentation, production, and
closure stage in our lesson plan. Madam
reminded us to complete the task before the
tutorial session tomorrow because she want to
check and provide feedback on the lesson plan.
